Have been watching the replay on fox footy from the game last week against Coburb. I noticed the ground was a real strange colour, then I noticed that all the players have green dye on their white boots, on their legs, shorts and jumpers - it is not just the dye from the signage on the ground, because that isn't green - and just about every player has it on them. So, they have obviously dyed the grass green to make it look better for tv...it must be really dry, and I would say, unfit for VFL football. I personally have never made the venture to Weribee, so can someone else please tell me what the playing surface is like? Thanks.

Train there a couple of times a week (not Werribee VFL), the ground and centre in the week before the Coburg game was very hard, they must have watered the ground a heap on friday and they sprayed the ground green on Friday (for TV). I know they sprayed water on the ground the game

We used to have a great ground in great conidtion, however the council have reseeded the oval because of the water restrictions, the manager at werribee told me the oval will green up in Summer as the type of grass that has been planted enjoys the summer.

I can't understand why we do that since the oval should be top conidtion for footy since that is what brings in the dollars not cricket.

Played a game there on Sunday after Coburg game on Saturday the ground was very good to play better that it looked.

It is in very ordinary condition round by the cricket nets (a couple of big holes filled in with sand) and in front of the ground stand.

The oval seems to be wearing very badly this summer it is in the worst condition i have ever seen. At least since the underground drainage was put it.

I don't know hwether the condition of the ground has anything to do with when the council accidently posioned/over fertisler all ovals in the area a couple of years.

I look around the area and the three major footy grounds are in sh*t condition (Soldiers reserve/Hoppers/Werribee).

Just my rant from a Golden Tiger member

yeah it's similar to the grass they are using at the western oval now.
It survives better in summer, takes less watering i believe but it goes brown and hard in winter. Plays well but looks ugly. I guess it comes down to saving money.
I believe they sprayed it green so that it would look more attractive for the television.

There was a vfl game down at tassie against the bee where the center has 3 strips that looked like cricket pitches in summer but they were in fact different types of grass. The curator was testing how they would go in winter but from the tv it looked just like a cricket pitch.
