Round 2
Werribee v Sandrngham, Saturday 12 April at Chirnside Park

Final scores

Sandringham 14. 16. 100
Werribee 18. 12. 60

Werribee senior coach Barry Prendergast offers his thoughts on how the Western Bulldogs listed players performed.

Matthew Boyd
Started well with a solid performance in the first half. Got quite a bit of the football and was a good contributor in the mid field.

Nick Bruton
Faced a tough day in the ruck given the conditions in the centre square. Had a good battle with the opposition’s ruckman and won more than his fair share of hit outs in an encouraging display.

Brent Colbert
Performed well in the back line where he rebounded well. Has shown that he is a real improver and keeps getting better each week.

Daniel Cross
Won a lot of the football and worked very hard in the mid-field. Has started the season off with consistent form and is showing promising signs for the Bulldogs.

Cameron Faulkner
Was a little off colour before the game. Consequently was a bit quiet early on but managed to work his way into the game and was a good performer in the second half.

Kieran McGuinness
Was outstanding on the half back flank where he kept a good player from the opposition quiet. Rebounded really well and was among Werribee’s best.

Brad Murphy
Started the game well before fading a little. Was rested for a bit and then concluded the game equally well when he returned to the ground.

Wayde Skipper
Played at centre half forward all day and continued to present himself as a go to target despite the difficult conditions of the day making it a difficult position to play.

Cameron Wight
Played up forward as well as in the ruck. Contested pretty well in these positions and continues to develop.

Tim Walsh
Strong early in the game and then returned late in the last quarter. Presented well at this stage of the game and kicked a couple of timely goals to try to give the team a shot at victory.

Brian Harris
Bounced back from his game of AFL football really well. Played at centre half back where he beat his opponent but developed a groin injury which will be assessed during the week.

Marcus Picken
Made a good return from injury. Played on Peter Vardy who he managed to put out of business. In the end he struggled a little with his fitness but is expected to return to full strength in the coming weeks.

Interesting. Anyone think he can make the firsts, and if so, where would he play?

Everyone played really well. How much did we win by again?

Either there's just a touch of the Iraqi Minister for Information here or all the Werribee listed players were really crap.

Considering the focus of the midfield and the lack of accountability, cheating, downhill skiing whatever you want to call it maybe it is time to seriously consider guys like Faulkner,Cross and even Brent Colbert. I have watched these guys play for Werribee and they play accountable footy.
I look forward to team selection this week.
Peter Rohde,Come On Down! It is one thing to say players are not following your instructions and you will not put up with it.
Start making some decisions instead of talking about it.
Drop the main offenders and send a message to the rest of the team, And the supporters, that you are serious about changing the game plan before this season slips away.

No Vardy was coming off an injury as well and gave him a lesson. His disposal and decision making was shocking

A simple matter of logic.

1. We should pick the best available players each week.

2. The gameplan is accountable footy.

3. Who is therefore playing the best appropriate footy at the moment?

Seems the answer is these guys, not Alvey, Eagleton & Co, therefore pick Scray72's players above.

Colbert isn't ready yet. Developing well but wasn't even playing for werribee seniors last year. Last quarter goal to his opponent when he misread ball shows this.

If you want hard/accountable guys. I'd promote Boyd especially if Dimma or Hahn lose form or are injured.

Good point. Why don't they promote Boyd? With Grant injured there is a spot for him.
Is it a financial decision?
He is your typical solidly built inside midfielder.
