One of the great acts of self sabotage.

Leave out half a dozen fit VFL quality players and then not have anyone anywhere near the best player on the ground all day. We'll be out of the 8 by next week, season shot.

In SA so don't get the telecast...Was this performance enough for Stewart to get the nod over Brown?

Stewart was pretty impressive. Even in the first half when he was missing goals he was still getting plenty of the ball and leading/marking really well. To then kick 3 goals in the second half and get even more of the ball, finishing with 26 possessions is a very good effort. He was timing his leads to perfection.

He'd have to be in contention for a seniors spot next week. I dunno whether they'd try to replace Brown or go with a 3 tall structure, relying on Stewart's mobility to make it work. Considering we lost Stringer and didn't really replace him I could see some logic behind having Stewart in.

Fantasia coming back won't really change the structure, as he will replace Long as a superior like for like.

Our VFL contingent is really subpar

To be fair, we should only be playing up to 6 VFL listed guys. Our usual (fit & firing) 6 would be, Hind, Younan, A.Hep, Hocking, Boyse and one of W.Berry/Sheehan/McQueen.

Having watched the replay, it really was our inside midfield brigade that was letting us down yesterday. The ease to which Werribee were allowed to waltz the ball out of a stoppage was pathetic. Add to that our little pressure (61 tackles for the day - that is tick over 15 a quarter) and it was easy to see why we struggled. We lacked little to no cohesion moving the ball forward of centre and the played right into the hands of the Tigers defensive kingpin Sam Collins (16 marks).

Our defensie end struggled to play as a unit also, the ability of the Tigers to get 1:1's was sub par and we were found out quarter upon quarter with the ease to which some of the more mature bodies were beating our kids up with ease.

Anyways, move on. Now in a log jamb of teams fighting to stay inside the top 8 after missing out on potentially moving a game inside the top 4. \

Taking on Collingwood (6th prior to games today 15/7) back at Windy Hill at 11am next Saturday 21st July.

I'd put Lazarro ahead of Berry or McQueen. And in fairness, blokes like Ferry (must be injured) and Darby would be fine playing a role too. Can't judge Hooper too harshly, coming off an ACL and he showed a lot for the Roosters in his time up there.
