Bendigo won't be a factor. They'll have problems when it comes to the 12/10 rule in the finals.

What is the ruling on Rookie List players in the finals?
I was talking with someone the other day about it and we weren't quite sure. If Rookie list players are excluded from the AFL listed players then we will be fine.

Blumfield, Beasy, Carter, Doering, Rosa, Connaughton, Robins are all core Bendigo players. Bowen is coming back from injury and played in the 2nd's on the weekend, had a very good year last year. That gives us 8. If rookies qualify, Bain, Jolley and Wilson would give us 11. Pendlebury and Vigus in the reserves go pretty well, Pendlebury in particular.

Agree with Longy's post before. Bendigo Bombers have some excellent VFL listed players so I don't see how 12/10 rule is going to affect them.

Also Werribee have lost Koops in recent weeks so there's one player who won't be available.

I can't see Werribee being beaten until about Round 14 or 15, when they play Bendigo in Bendigo, and then Sandringham the following week. One of those two teams should get over the line.

Weird fixturing.. but Werribee play Springy again in just 3 weeks.

*cough* http://www.vflfooty.com

Our reserves down at Werribee only feature two or three and four Bulldogs players at the most each week.

We have some great talent in the reserves side such as Robbie Costello, James Allan (2004 Geelong rookie list) and Luke Collins.

Who else here rates Costello ?

Atkins has the right tactics to win on most grounds generally.

Very impressed with Salim Hassan. Looks a real talent already.

As to who could beat them, Bendigo look the most likely. As for the 12/10 rule, Bendigo have a good core group as Longy mentioned above.

There is a lot of experience in the team with Carter, Blumfield, Beasy and Doering all standing up regularly.

Ideally, under the 12/10 rule, this would be a best possible Bendigo team:

B: Rosa, Hunt (Essendon), Bowen
HB: Thomas (Essendon), Doering, Blumfield
C: Slattery, Monfries, Dyson (all Essendon)
HF: Carter (c), Johns (Essendon), Connaughton
F: Wilson (Essendon rookie), Robins, Beasy
R: Cartledge, Haynes (both Essendon), Jolley (Essendon rookie)
Int: Vigus, Pendlebury, Corcoran, Gilliland

Werribee have alot better VFL listed players than Bendigo. E.g Podsiadly is better than Beasy.

Doering would be the red hot favourite for the Liston.
Blumfield is a class act at VFL level and is getting better every week.
Beasy is a different player to Pods. He contributes but is by no means Bendigo's spearhead. He rotate's through there with Watson, Richards and now Johns. Beasy has AFL experience over Pods.
Carter finds plenty of the ball and is a very good leader.

B Williams (dogs) Henderson Rau
HB Sleeman Wight (dogs) Lamb
C O'Sullivan Griffen (dogs) Robertson
HF Bowden Bandy B. Murphy all dogs
F Darcy Podsiadly McGuiness (dogs)
R Street Birss(both dogs) Hassan
Int Faulkner Walsh(both dogs) Furfaro Castello

this depends on how many senior games Rawlings/Ray/griffen and Birss play

4 in the VfL state side. i think werribee would have to be flag favourites but all depands on if they can start winning in finals

Bendigo had 3 and Beasy and Blumfield pulled out on the Friday before with injury. At the very least, Blumfield would have played.

Very ordinary footballer at VFL level.

Doering, Blumfield, Carter, Robins. You idiot
Whatever! Travis Robertson captain of the VFL side is the best player outside of the AFL never to play at AFL level. Never beaten and the premier VFL backman in the competition.

Podsiadly is alot more damaging proposition than Callan Beasy and has proven that over the last 3 years in the VFL. Beasy was extremely lucky to play the games he did with Carlton because not one of them was worth a pinch of shi.t

Doering is an excellent player and wins plenty of the pill but is hardly damaging. Hassan at Werribee is electrifying and takes players on.

Throw in young gun Chad O'Sullivan (probably leading the Liston after the first 6 rds) Teagan Henderson, Edward Darcy and Werribee have the cream of the crop when it comes to VFL listed players. Thats why they are on top and they don't look like being beaten. You idiot.

How can people doubt Bendigo's ability under Knights. Amazing how a new coach can turn a team, that was lucky to make last year's finals for their first time, into a serious premiership threat.

Bendigo are looking the goods to be at Carlton on the second last Sunday in September. Now, can you imagine a flock of red and black fans at Optus Oval on that particular day and the potential influence that could have on that day, because it is fair to say that plenty of Essendon fans, who do care about how Bendigo are travelling, would have the potential to make a difference.

Once again, Bendigo are playing well..yet aren't being given the credit.
