At least he writes his own songs.. Guy does have a good voice.. But where is he? He made 2 maybe 3 singles and that's it.. Guy had the voice but couldnt write the music.. Wes has a great voice, different from other Idol winners and he's a good songwriter. If you listen to the words other than the woah oh oh oh oh oh, it's pretty good lyrics in that song

Whoever said his new song sounded like Matchbox 20 is correct. I heard this on the radio at work and asked one of my workmates (who loves M20) if this was them. She laughed at me but it really does sound like them. Not really a fan of songs which are completely centred around doo's or whoa's either.

As for Australian Idol winners, I'm more of a Casey Donovan fan myself. Hasn't she had a stunning career....

dunno anything about wes carr, but it seems to me as though any idol winner or idol associated contestant is automatically smeared because of the idol tag, no matter how talented they may be.

Wes Carr is one of the best to come out of the show I reckon. However not really a fan of this song too much though.

The problem is pretty much whatever they do, it will always be accompanied by the "former idol" tag. It means they won't have any credibility with most muso's, most music critics, no mucis elitists will respect them and the teenage market that loved them on Idol will soon move onto the next batch or just outgrow them.

The one's that have done alright have succeeded by either targetting an under-represented market (Shannon Noll), or completely reinventing themselves (Jessica Mauboy from a average innocent 16 year old to a sexy partying 18 year old). I think Wes Carr's just going to fade into obscurity, he's one of those artists that whilst talented, doesn't hold the publics attention for long.
