Possible we have a squad of 23.

Pending the injury list: Liddy (Groin) should be assessed. Sinn (Shoulder) ruled out.

With Bergman returning to the AFL side we may see Mead drop down here. As well as extras like Lorenz and Zadow.

Not 100% on if Wines can play here or not.

Since this game is the day before the AFL game, there may be an AFL emergency held back.

SANFL listed players yet to appear this pre-season: D.Cochrane - Roberts - Couroupis - Carnelly - Turner - Bowman - Growden - Ferrari - Byrne - Driscoll - Whimpress - Dean - Hill - Miller - Smith - Gilchrist - Griffiths - Kempe - Pitt

Why are we playing Westies at Elizabeth?
Not sure, but I see Westies ground is in use (U16s game vs WWT Eagles) during this time.

We've beaten 2 top 3 teams from last year in pre-season, and only just missed finals last season because Soldo disappeared late in the season, and also Norwood shut the lights off in the last quarter to the end we were kicking at, so we should be aiming to make finals.

Norwood always turns the lights off at the end we're kicking.

They also played like 21 or 22 minutes from memory too when every quarter went to or close to 30 minutes.

Zadow's going to love the space out at Elizabeth.

Wonder if Blackwing will be there yelling out to Liddy to come home.

Why are we playing Westies at Elizabeth?

The
West Adelaide v Port Adelaide trial match on Saturday, 14 March 2026 is being held at
X Convenience Oval
(Elizabeth Oval) to facilitate a triple-header involving three different clubs at a single neutral venue.
By playing at Elizabeth, the SANFL is able to centralise multiple trial matches for different grades and teams on the same day:
  • 10:00 am: West Adelaide v Port Adelaide (League)
  • 12:40 pm: West Adelaide v Central District (Reserves)
  • 3:20 pm: Central District v Adelaide (League)

Why use a neutral venue?
  • Ground Availability: SANFL clubs often use neutral or regional venues for pre-season trials because their primary home grounds (like
    Alberton Oval
    or
    Hisense Stadium
) may still be in use for Premier League cricket or under maintenance to ensure "cherry ripe" conditions for the premiership season.
  • Logistical Efficiency: It allows West Adelaide to play their League and Reserves squads back-to-back at one location.
  • Regional Engagement: The SANFL frequently uses trial series to bring games to different suburban and regional zones, providing free access for local fans to see multiple teams in one afternoon.

10am. We're kicking the dew off the grass for ... checks notes ... West Adelaide and Centrals reserves.

Also note to sanfl, Centrals are playing in 2 of the 3 matches at their home ground. This is not a neutral venue for all teams involved.

Happy for our players to not cook in the afternoon sun

Ross, then you have to wonder why the Crows are playing on the same day at the same ground after our game. This game should be played at Alberton Oval or Richmond Oval. It's that simple. I won't be going as a protest to this decision by the SANFL.

We'd be like the parents watching the little ones on a Saturday morning Auskick tournament at the Modbury Heights oval.

Mate! Good thinking.
I wouldn’t be taking your rig anywhere near Elizabeth if I were you.
