No, to try & get through to idiots. The sun can still be up ie: not set, but there is no sunshine, because it is overcast, cloudy, or raining, got it now.
And how often is that smartarse?

The same could then be said for summer DST.

Gawd it's hard, no it can't, because the sun is in a different position in summer, the reason why it is hot in summer & cold in winter, you get more overcast days when you hardly even see the sun in winter, let alone sunshine.

You are right, it is damn hard. Most days in winter are not overcast and raining. What are you talking about, hardly ever see sun in winter?

Read my post you quoted again, more slowly this time, your reply to my post isn't what I said, once again reading into it what you want.

Anyway I will leave you to try & comprehend what I am saying, lunchtime is over & I have work to do, end of the month & all.

Having lived in Perth for nearly my entire life, I can assure you that you get plenty of sunny days in winter. Not as many as in summer, but still plenty.

The mean daily hours of sunshine for Perth in June is 5.2 hours and for July is 6.4. There's a fair chance on any given day that the sun might be out in the late afternoon.

Just for the record, there are 18.2 (June) and 17.2 (July) days with rain (thus at least 10 days without rain in each month), and not all of those will be overcast in the afternoon. I'd estimate there's probably 12-13 days per month with sun in the late afternoon. After all, just how many footy games in Perth suffer each year with rain? Finally, anecdotally, I'd say it rains more at night overall than during the day in Perth.

Maybe you should re-read your own posts. The sun being in a different position in winter does not mean you don't get sunlight.

Anyway you specifically said it was because of rain and being overcast, then start to go on about the position of the sun. Then you tell me I'm reading what I want into it.

Maybe try and put up a coherent arguement, rather than changing ground every second post.

Quite simply -

- I am able to stand in sunshine at 5.30pm at least 50% of the days in winter
- It makes a few degrees difference standing in sunshine, to standing in shade
- DST in winter would result in daylight until 6.30pm

I realise you do not like this idea, but why keep trying to twist facts (incorrectly) to suit your agenda?

 Yep dead right.

Just thought I'd state the obvious. Dunno about your neck of the woods but in WA we get statements like " While the most of Australia changes to daylight saving, WA remains in the etc etc etc " I wouldnt mind if the word 'population' is used that would then be the truth of the matter.

Conveniently the truth usually suffers if it is likely to spoil a good story or opinion.
