Chick, Stenglein, Hunter > Gardiner, Darling, Jakovich (Jako made his name in the 90's, if we're looking at 2000-2014, Jako is not in that team).
i probably agree with that but i tried to name players in their positions and unfortunately i thought there were better players in the positions of the ones you listed. also i am including 1999 so jako just scrapes in for me but i think mackenzie hot on his heels.

Jako winning the F &B in 2000 not significant?
The Judge years never happened.
Jakovich was a bit of a liability in his later years, kept getting swung between HBF and HFF. Was too slow and cumbersome in defense, no good up forward. I still remember the McGinnity-like hate for him on here.

Not sure one good year justifies selection in a best of 15yrs team?

I was simply responding to your "if it's from 1999 he's in but 2000 he's out" comment. Given he had an ordinary 1999 and was our medallist in 2000 it seemed an odd comment.

I agree pre knee he was much better.

I mean any team picked from 1999-2014 has issues with weighting performances in 2000-2001 and most of 2008-2014 because they've been hugely poor eras.

The players one would favour are probably fading 1990's stars who still performed (Kemp was still good when fit and was runner up to Jako in 2000) or players from 2003-2007 when we were actually good. With the exception of a few the 2008 onwards guys don't really warrant much consideration - as we've barely competed with them there.

Priddis wouldn't get in an actual side probably because he'd be a role player and he's not as good as stinger, rojo or chick as a role player. Emac likely makes it. 3 tall defenders are Glass, E Mac and Hunter. Lecca makes it because we never really had that gun half forward after heady and Lewis. Who don't make that time frame.

Hurn probably. Kennedy just because Hansen & Lynch was a pretty ordinary pairing :)

But Cox, Judd, Cousins, Kerr picks itself. Embley, Braun, Fletcher, Stenglein ....

If I have time I'll put my own team together

Trying to pick a "well balanced" team as possible

FB:
David Wirrpanda - Darren Glass - Adam Hunter

HB:
Shannon Hurn - Eric Mackenzie - Daniel Chick

W:
Tyson Stenglein (tagger) - Chad Fletcher

C:
Daniel Kerr

FOLL:
Dean Cox - Chris Judd (V/C) - Ben Cousins (C)

HF:
Michael Braun - Josh Kennedy - Andrew Embley

FF: Mark LeCras -
Quinten Lynch - Phillip Matera

INT:
Michael Gardiner - Matthew Priddis - Beau Waters - Adam Selwood

- Gardiner plays as 2nd ruck.
- Priddis as a rotating midfielder. Maligned player but can you leave out a Brownlow Medalist???
- Waters V Chick was a close call. Gave the nod to Chick but both players would end up rotating through the back line.
- Selwood preferably as a shut down defender on a dangerous opposition forward where he played his best footy IMO. That last bench player was tough to pick.
- Cousins the logical choice for captain IMO. No disrespect to Judd but forgetting the off field stuff Cousins's leadership even when stripped of the captaincy was huge. Spiritual leader of the 06 premiership.
- Without Kennedy I'd have had Ash Hansen as CHF. Maligned player but arguably we wouldn't have made the 2006 GF let alone won it without him. Was important to the structure of the team and gave LRT the jitters early in the 2006 GF. Roberts Thomson didn't really recover from that first quarter.

#13
HF/FF - Josh Kennedy, Mark Lecras, Fraser Gehrig, Jack Darling, Quinten Lynch, Phil Matera
Mids - Ben Cousins (leadership group), Chris Judd, Daniel Kerr, Matt Priddis, Tyson Stenglein (vc)
HB/FB - Darren Glass (c), Wirra (leadership group), Adam Hunter, Drew Banfield, Eric Mackenzie, Daniel Chick
Ruck - Dean Cox
Interchange - Nic Nat, Mark Nicoski, Shannon Hurn, Luke Shuey
Coach: Worsfold (obviously)

Like all the other lists it's dominated by the current era and the 06 premiership era, since most of the Judge era players were terrible/declining 90s players.

Bullshit.

Why would you even say that given the obvious poverty in our midfield?
Well because 8 or so of the current players are in the best over the last 15 years ? if we had 2 or 3 then yeah we belong down the bottom end of the ladder but 8 come on here that's saying either we are a shit side for a decade and a half or our current list is way under performing.

It's not 8' more like 5. And that's if you include Priddis who is borderline/bench in our best side. He's also the only Mid.

The only ones who are walk ups are Emac, Hurn, Kennedy and Lecca and all of those play in areas where we were at best adequate in our premiership years (Glass was great but he was our only genuine tall defender)...

We have a modest list and given the number of mids we've picked since 2007, or midfield rebuild has been an epic fail.

We are a middling side because we have an ineffective midfield. And we have a brownlow medallist - go figure:)

Darling, Waters and Priddis ??? who were better in the last 15y ? Waters is one of our best ever for courage..has made all Australian in 2012 and frankly does/did more with the ball than Worsfold ever did. Priddis is a Brownlow medalist so even though I don't rate him much he gets the ball and Darling is pretty much one of our best defensive forwards that chases, tackles and kicks goals.

Priddis was borderline in my 5.

Waters was one of our best in the 2006 Grand Final - especially in the last quarter. So I see him as a product of that era. And he's barely played in 3 or so years, so his "presence" hardly suggests we should be contenders.

Jack is a good player. Have a look at the side I liked, not sure he was in it....

Priddis is average. Wouldn't start in our best side of the last 15 and wouldn't get picked in our best midfield of all time. We currently have a relatively poor midfield. Not sure how many times I need to say that before you figure out why we aren't that good.

But he's the only football player in the multiverse who can get the ball.....

I think Priddis would of pushed out Fletcher in the 2006 GF if he was old enough back then and really since 1999 who is going to knock him out of the midfield ? don't get me wrong I'm no huge fan but he is what he is.

Reckon that's pretty close to the 22 I'd pick. Only change would be Naita in for Gardiner, who didn't do much after 2003 so misses out for much the same reason as Jako.
