Geez, you'd have to be disappointed with that. They sent 5 ppl to Optus Oval!!! For What! A week long holiday?

I hope not. Maybe they talked to a few potential coaches. Actually, correction, MAKE that, they better have talked to a few potential coaches!

I guess they would not trade the first two picks and thats what was wanted for the good players on their shopping list.
I'm not unhappy as I believe we have a good young developing squad and we will strengthen it in the Drafts.
Freo has come up well in the wash and will add Sampi probably at pick 4, but has no other reasonable pick in the draft. Eagles will probably go for Polak at 3 and a midfielder at 6 with possibly Medhurst at 21.
It will also mean that we probably have some room in the cap for a couple of strong pickups in the pre season draft.

Sir Humphrey Appleby in Yes Minister:
"I suggest masterly inactivity, Minister."
Jim Hacker:
"What? You mean do nothing?"
Appleby:
"That is precisely what I mean."

Relax, we know what we're doing.

I hope.

VOR I am trying my best to not get uptight about things. Just the pills dont seem to be working.

I hope we know what we are doing. I hope we just dont see more of the same as the last two years have been pretty lean.

I know that we must look at short term pain for long term gain. But we dont have a Coach or any new players. Just great!

After all that I feel the club must get Woosha as Coach. If for no other reason but to boost morale amonst us supporters. I think we are all feeling a bit flat.

After all that I am a committed member and will stick with my team.

GO EAGLES!

Whats there to worry about? We are going to pick Misiti up in the pre-season draft. Apparently he isn't expecting Essendon to offer him anything worthwile, at least nothing the eagles can't substantially beat.

And if not, then at least we will get Polak, who is probably the best youngster in WA.

Im not too worried. We have three high picks in the draft and if injury stays away and we can get our best team on the paddock then i believe we can win games. Remember our top 5 pick from last year hasnt debuted either.

I'm starting to worry about McDougall. In his first year of AFL he didn't play any AFL games and his games in the WAFL weren't all that great either. Sure you can say it came down to constant injury but I have my doubts about that excuse. I'm tending to think that the sudden change in lifestyle has caught him out. I hope for both his sake and WC's sake that he does work himself out next season, play some good football in the WAFL (like how Gaspar debuted for us) and then gets promoted to the senior AFL ranks. Hopefully he can then do a semi Gaspar in that he impresses everyone but doesn't get injured whilst he's at it like Gaspar did.

Anyway, we have the potential youngsters, next year is the real test. My expectations:

Gaspar, Glass, Haynes, Munro, Hunter (if still here) - all develop further to become good young players. They are all now in their 3rd year and must start taking more of the load (Glass allready doing this btw)

McDougall, Kerr, Humm - McDougall to make his debut and show us what he's capable of. Kerr can stay how he is at the moment! :D Humm to show further improvement with more senior games. Humm at WAFL level is very good, he's just one of those players that gets overawed at the big league and needs several games to settle in. Then he will start to perform well.

#3, #6, #22, #38 - Expect signs from the two top draft picks. Don't mind seeing the two later ones developing slower. Hopefully we can pick up some more good youngsters here.

hopefully we get 2 key position players with the first 2 picks
polak and another chf/ff/chb
this would set us up with key position players for the next 10 years, midfielders are easier to come by in the later picks, much much easier, most of the key pos players recruited in the earlier draft have succeded at the afl and have been good, unlike midfielders, best to pick up 2 talls, and 3 midfielders wtih picks 22, 38, 54

One bonus for the Eagles next year is that, the supporters at least, of the other 15 clubs under estimate the potential of the Eagles youngsters. It will take 2-3 years to get up, but we do have the basis of a very strong team. It isn't the potential of the dockers, but they've had 7 seasons to work it out, of course they're gonna have some guns now. We've just gotta keep focused and take the short term pain for the long term glory, as i'm sure our youngsters will bring that to us eventually(with a few casualties and additions along the way of course though)
