Data from footywire. To check the draft order see the thread here.

I think I have a point where the answer is yes, but not sure the club does and especially not at a point that I think would tempt the Eagles.

Also, Yeo has to agree to it as well.
Yeh absolutely he does, not sure hed be that keen on the next 3 years at the eagles though. Im not sure it would take much to tempt a move to a finalist side down the road but the trades between WCE and Freo are rare

If im eagles im taking pick 30 for him

If im freo im happy handing over pick 35, IF they finish the year off well, Yeo doesnt get the OP return and eagles pay the majority of his salary. A healthy Yeo come finals imo could be the difference. If he stays injured then the loss of a mid 30 pick is nor here nor there

Maybe im way off on this theory. Just think Gov, Yeo, Darling, Cripps ect should be at sides contending and not the worse side weve seen for a while over the next 2 years. Unfortunately most are contracted and wont move outside of WA. So the only option for them is Fremantle.

Late 2nds and 3rd round picks should be seen as valuable to some degree by west coast. The ability to put alot of picks togetger to get say a suns pick ect

Sharp, Dev Robbo, Brockman, Neale, Ash Johnson dont cost much more than that if any more than that. Plus you could hit some talent at that range in the draft.

Not sure what you’re watching but our recent drafting has been a highlight.

Ginbey, Long, Hough and Bazzo have all shown they belong at the level. Chesser and Hewett clearly have the talent and hopefully show it in time, Chesser should be given some time to get to speed given his lack of game time the last 4 years.

7 other clubs passed on Johnson after us, not sure he was the miss you are claiming.
Long,Hough and Bazzo won’t get a game at another club. With development might be solid role players.

Ginbey is pretty good and Chesser and Hewett are solid but not world beaters.

I have no medical training, but I would take a 100% Yeo for pick 35 and minimal salary.

Freo is absolutely the only way

Do the eagles off load him for a 3rd round pick for example?

Imo Fremantle should be looking to get any of Darling, Gov or Yeo for the right price if they believe their window is in the next 2 years

Freo dont need gov theyve too many kpds as it is. Yeo is too injured. Darling is possible purely as they need fwds but i doubt they would take on his big wage and do wce a favour.

I've said on other threads that I think it's much better for a rebuilding team to stockpile multiple 'very good' players rather than cash all their chips in on one 'superstar'. And WCE need as much talent as they can as quickly as possible.

So I'd recommend them trading this year's first (likely Pick 1-2) plus next year's first (again likely a Top 5 pick) for as many picks this year as they can. If they can turn 2 first rounders into 5-6 picks in the Top 30, that would speed up their rebuild considerably.

Considering that 2x pretty sure picks can be swapped for 4 mucg more speculative shots- it seems a bad deal.

Got to move on everyone you can that even has a hint of currency.

Gaff, Yeo, Darling, Ryan. Looks like they are keeping Mcgovern and Cripps, which is fair enough. Shuey retires, Barrass or Duggan becomes captain you would imagine.

Collingwood surely have an interest in Darling. Essendon would too. Even Geelong for mine, as they push for one more flag with Danger at the club.

Yeo to Sydney seems to have some legs, probably get a pick in the 30s, same with Darling.

Gaff a pick in the 50s, but just take it. Never know what you could uncover.

Flying Ryan you probably get something around the 20-25 mark. He would be a really good fit for a GWS or Richmond.

Id be looking at some stop gap players to in order to help development for the young guys. Bring in someone like a James Harmes on a decent deal for 2 years. Bring in Matt Taberner to take some pressure off Allen. You cant go all kids because it will get even worse again.

Obviously go hard at Georgiades because if you can get him the key forward posts look pretty good long term.

Draft a minimum of 5 young kids, and a couple more rookies.

Get rid of Ryan and bring in Harmes on a decent deal

Throw away Darling and put in an order for a broke down, over 30yo Taberner

Are you on acid?

I agree, a very wierd premise.

How many spots do the Eagles want to free up ?. Then who are the deadwood who are not going to make it at AFL level ?. Would you see 2 retirements, Hurn & Shuey ?.

You can only move so many on, it may be a 2 - 3 year progression to clean the bottom of the list. The top of the list with the veterans is a tough issue, you need them for leadership, but have they been leading over the last 2 years ( a bit rudderless ? ).

I can see the Eagles look strongly at getting 1 or 2 experienced players, to support the team as they nurture the green shoots. How they afford these players, I’m not sure, as they haven’t got much to trade ( no touchies, untouchables ).

Maybe the trade period in 2024 is where the Eagles will really clean their floor, with more delisting’s and retirements.

Who are their KPDs?

Yeo would be on the radars of several clubs if he keeps producing what he has the past 2 weeks, there isnoptimiam hes past the serious Hip and OP stuff which can be extended periods on the side lines

Usually doesnt occur as much in guys his age

You can do that but it ends up a middling team like Carlton.

Got a feeling West Coast will take short cuts in a rebuild.

They already talking about getting free agents.
Free agency costs us nothing, provided the contracts are front-loaded.

If we were trading out first rounders, then you'd have a point.
