The West Coast Eagles were formed in late 1986 in an era when state football competitions were facing crippling debts and mismanagement. It was a step towards a national competition finally being formed and from their first game in 1987, their mark would be made quickly and emphatically. In just their second season, they made finals, losing a heartbreaker to Melbourne as a final shot at goal drifted wide...

Three decades on, the club has won four premierships, with their most recent decided by a final shot from the tightest of angles.

In between there has been more premiership glory, being the first team to take the VFL/AFL Premiership outside of Victoria. There have been Brownlows, Colemans, Norm Smiths... there have been epics wins, disastrous losses, drawn and extra-time finals, kicks after the siren, stunning debuts. We've had a history that has had it all....

The club has existed in four separate decades... from the tail end of the 80s, through the 90s when it emerged as a power club, through a turmoil ridden 2000s intersected by two heart-stopping grand finals, through the 2010s and setting the course to return to the top. As we enter into a new decade, let's take a look back on our greatest triumphs.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A number of year's ago, there was a Movie Draft game over on the Media & Entertainment board. This is a blatant rip-off of that. :p

As a fun off-season game that could possibly last us until the new season, I'd like to see how our boards ranks the best ever Eagles games... we may end this before we cover them all. We may keep going to include the not so good games. This is open to all West Coast Eagles board members (no set amount) to join. Hopefully a good number take part but it doesn't get too crazy. Basically how it will work is like this....

Step 1 - Sign up by LIKING this post. That's probably the easiest way to do it (saves pages of people saying they want to sign up). If you DON'T WANT TO TAKE PART then DON'T LIKE THIS POST IN ANY WAY. I'm sure that's not too difficult, right? Don't * it up, campaigners!

Step 2 - After a set amount of time, let's say end of this "work" week (so Friday night?) we'll lock in everyone who is taking part.

Step 3 - I'll randomise the order people will be selecting games. Whoever gets pick 1 goes first (so check in Friday night as it may be you!).

Step 4 - Whoever's turn it is has 48 hours max to do a write up of what they think is the Eagles best ever game. If they get it done sooner, all the better. Make it as detailed as you like (hopefully it's a massive essay with pics/gifs/videos/feels... all the bells and whistles). Talk about how the game went, set the scene of how it was approached, talk about the best players, individual highlights... whatever. We've seen what people can do with game preview write-ups, so this should be glorious.

Step 5 - After that person has posted their game, they TAG THE NEXT PERSON in the order (see step 3) and they then have 48 hours to do their write-up of the next best game. So make sure you're checking in so you don't miss your turn, campaigners!

That's pretty much it. Obviously, once a game has a write-up it can no longer be selected again (so, the 2018 Grand Final is only getting one write-up by whoever picks it first). If you're 25th in the order then it'll be a bit of a wait, and you'll probably not want to start thinking about what game you're picking until it's close to your turn.

Well, you've forced my hand on this one. Looks like I don't have a choice.

I’m still a little unsure what’s going on here

When it’s your turn you do a write up on your favourite ever Eagles game. If the game you want has already been chosen then you must pick a different one.

Is my understanding.

Pretty much this. The goal is to just have write ups of our best ever games through our history, in a sort of ranking. But this makes it more interactive and interesting, rather than just voting or one person doing it all.

I should add that we don't need to be super strict with the 48 hours. I figure that's a good amount of time to take care of it, but if you need extended time, that can be added. On the flip side, if you're unresponsive, your turn will get skipped after the 48 hours. :p

Yes
92 GF Greatest game I watched on Tv . 94 ,06 right up there .
2018 watched live at MCG with my Wife . Twitched with every ball movement seemed like my senses could see like slomo vision , fully engrossed in that game , hugging complete strangers when the siren sounded . One irish bloke kissed my cheek he was a vocal supporter as was I the whole game , we did a great job supporting our team that day , the freezing day was completely forgotten about once the ball bounced until the Jimmy Barnes after concert . The business lounge at airport had non stop replay the next day so free food and beer it was a great great weekend .

Ok cause the 48hrs to rewatch the game and then write up is tough.

Could write up off memory then rewrite what actually happened

48 hours should be enough if you're keen, but happy to extend if needed. I imagine people will differ with how they approach it. Some may prefer to go off memory, some need to re-watch the whole game, some may flick through highlights, some may just watch a last quarter. Also, when it's getting towards your turn, you could start prepping with some games you think you'd consider as your pick. :) We'll see how it goes.
