West Coast Eagles Priority Pick (2024)

So let's * it up even more? No you've missed the point. You don't deserve access to players, when you made Finals not 3 years ago, and won a flag 6 years ago. What kind of precedent does that set?
If the worst side in AFL history can't get support after a club with, as Jono Brown says it, has the 'best' centre square combo in the league + a bloke who just kicked 71 goals does, then all forms of assistance and ways to bring in players from the draft, outside of using the actual pick you get handed, must be scrapped.

That means no academies, no father sons, etc, just a pure draft.

Do that and no assistance would even be required, because everyone will have the same access tot he draft when it's their turn at the bottom.

Clear enough now?

Yeah clear enough that you sound exactly like North posters last year. Then what, we gonna get Hawks posters next year? Richmond posters?

It's all 'me me me' and 'look what they got, I want it too'

What you're too stupid to understand is, that I actually want a pure draft too. I've argued for this in other threads. Your solution however, is to take Premiership sides from 6 years ago, and hand them PP's so they're competitive again - further distorting the comp. You played in 2 Grand Finals in the space of 4 years, and played Finals up until 2021. Why the hell should you get assistance, when this is equalisation at play, and you should be at the bottom of the ladder? No-one told you to hand over the kitchen sink for TK, you guys did that. You guys paid Gaff, Shuey, McGovern, Yeo, Sheed ridiculous wages, while they kept regressing/getting injured. You made your bed, you should sleep in it.

I will say though, utterly hilarious how you've lowered yourself to the level of North posters who were widely mocked for so long by posters from 'big clubs' such as your own, for years on end. Now you're no better than North, so enjoy begging for handouts like the other 'little clubs'...rather than standing on your own two feet like the supposed 'powerhouse' that you are. Pathetic.

See ya.

Best centre square combo that lost 20 games in a row last year ? 🤣
And a pick 73 that kicked 71 goals in his 7th season ? 🤣

Don't believe all Duffield feeds you.

As an Eagles supporter, I have zero desire to get draft compensation. Yes, we've made some drafting mistakes, but a huge part of our downfall has been injuries. Consequently, I'd prefer any compensation be in the form of additional allowances for fitness and conditioning and/or injury management. I think at some point, the AFL also needs to consider their plan for dealing with concussion-related retirements. We lost Dan Venables, a first-round draft pick, after only 21 games. And we kept him on our list for more than two years.

More than anything, though, I'd like to see whatever compensation the AFL offers to be standardised instead of handed out on a whim. North seemed to get kissed on the dick in return for their own incompetence, but if the rules were clear, transparent and the same for everyone, then there wouldn't be any arguments or recriminations.

LOL " kissed on the dick" are you mental, we got a heap of second rounders that we offered to you for pick ****en one. You said no and then bitched about missing on your academy player.

Had you said 'yes ' who knows how it would have panned out.

I wish we had priority picks instead of draft assistance. a huge difference.

3 extra 1st rounders not enough, I guess. They were PP's, just end of 1st PP's. You got free picks two years in a row, quit sooking.

That was from Jono Brown actually and he said that before the draft.

How many close games did North 'lose' last year?

Wow, a heap of second rounders. Can't believe we turned it down to keep pick 1

Are you also mental, " three end of first rounders", what were the actual numbers. FMD, FML & FFS.

I now honestly believe the average AFL is a dead set moron.

End of first round = second ****en round.

So, you got 3 end of first rounders, that were before our actual first pick of the 2nd round, which was pick 30...

And you're having a sook about it?

I agree mate, the point is apparently North cleaned up like no club before them.

You'd have been completely of your guts had you done that.

And fwiw I couldn't careless if you get draft assistance

I'd have been ecstatic if WCE got what North did.

I mean, no, it doesn't. Love that you call me mental, and comment on me being a moron, when you're too braindead to realise that if it was a 1st rounder before distortion of the draft, it's still a 1st rounder after distortion of the draft.

It doesn't matter where the picks were taken. You never had access to Academy players or F/S. And to be honest, what's really funny about this is, that they were actually mid 1sts, given the draft went to Pick 30 for the first round. You took Pick 20, 22 and 23...see the big 'ol 1 next to the table with the names in it, that makes it a first rounder, moron. Taking out the aforementioned, you would've had Picks 16, 17 and 19.

But please, feel free to act superior and throw some more acronyms at me when you're too f*cking dense to a) remember your picks, or b) understand how the draft actually works.

You want to see a moron, look in the mirror.

Don’t post very often but need to bring up a few points:
1- west coast and Freo fund WAFC and have a reduction in revenue of around $2m per annum due to bad performance of WA teams
2- north got circa $19m from AFL and West Coast circa $10m
3- if north have a poor year financially the AFL increases the amount to ensure no serious revenue loss and this doesn’t happen for West Coast and WAFC
4- west coast and Freo fund the WAFC who develop players in WA who are drafted by all AFL clubs and are $2m down on this- is the AFL gonna make this up?
5- our wealth isn’t an issue as we can’t use our one advantage
6- we can only rebuild via the draft as it’s hard to trade out older players as they don’t want to leave Perth and incoming players don’t want to leave the east for Perth
7- our last two wooden spoon years led to pick 1 becoming pick 4 due to draft concessions and pick 19 becoming 30 due to draft concessions

It seems we only get draft concessions against us and not for us. We just want the draft to be fair and uncompromised. Please don’t mention start up concessions as we were trail blazers who faced incredible disadvantage in those early years.

We also want access to the rare academy players we get prior to 40.

Remember, the northern clubs have academies as their advantage and the VIC clubs can trade in and out easier as players are already in VIC or happy to go there.

I just want uncompromised drafts and to be able to use our advantage which is money via more soft cap.

Without this we are at a massive disadvantage building a list.

You're on the record saying you don't want priority picks.

Stop clogging up Bigfooty with your vomit of text everywhere
I don't, I'd much rather the AFL introduced pick purchasing instead.

If they don't, then PPs are the next best option.

You have had plenty of priority picks over the last 2 decades, where has this “we seem to only have draft concessions against us rather than for us?” Come from?

Judd, Shuey and Darling is a fair trio of priority picks…

Do you even win any of your flags since 94’ without them? 2 of them are Norm Smith medalists.

The way some eagles fans talk I totally forgot those numerous priority picks they’ve received.

Then someone like yourself brings me back to reality.

I'm glad we got Ports first for JHFF, pick 20 seems like a first rounder to me, when I consider it is an 18 team competition.
