Just watching Fox Footy and theyr'e showing West Coast training and all the players are blindfolded. Could someone please tell me how this could benefit lol.

I think Woosha has a bit of Blight in him

Didn't see it but in my playing days I did blindfolded training once or twice. Usually a player without a blindfold is leading the other players. Its a trust and talking thing. The non-blindfolded player has to tell the others where they are going and whats happening etc and the others have to trust him not to lead them into a big pot-hole or into the fence. Don't know if that's what the eagles were doing though. Maybe just some kinky WA thing.

Showed it on the 10 News, laughed big time when the blindfolded dude ran into the fence. :D Lucky for him he didn't injure himself.

Desperate Housewives is starting so i gotta be quick lol
But could it also help their balance as well? I know when I'm blind lol, or walking in the dark i lose a bit of sense of balance. So just wondering.
Is a bit different, but doesn't seem to be hurting them. Saw them do it a while back, so it must be entrenched in their training.

Its not something new that they're doing. They've done it before. And far be it for me to argue with it when I look at our ladder position!

I just hope Fletch didn't injure himself when he pole-axed into the fence!

Hehe yeah they've done it before, quite amusing for us and the players it seems. It's for building communication with teammates. And didn't Chicky and Embley get stuck into eachother! All in good fun though and I'm glad the WA media didn't blow it out in something it wasn't, which is often the case.

Acually you are incorrect Froars. Its a new variation on an old theme from their recently apointed new specialist advisor, a Mr D Frawley, who reputedly managed to coach a team for a 5 whole years blindfolded!!

And lobotomised :D

we did a blindfolded match at training a few years ago when i was playing. the reason why were as followed:

-communicating with team mates with out seeing them
-having trust in team mates advice
etc etc

cant remember the rest. but i found this task bloody difficult! being already deaf, then being blindfolded so i couldnt see made things hell! but still gained the ball. :D

Don't normally heap ********** on my own team, but there was a letter in The West today saying that the Dockers were the first to introduce this training technique, and they've perfected it so much that they're now using it in their games.
