Whilst I wish the eagles get a team. I don't think adding more teams is a good idea. Will dilute the talent pool too much by adding more teams.
Its the AFLW and its expansion that is the reason for half the talent thats out there now. The faster the AFLW expands, the faster the talent pool expands.

Exactly. You could also make an argument that now is the time to expand when the skills are where they are now- rather than in 5 years when the skills get better and then the standard takes a drop because you’ve introduced 4-5 new teams.

I’d personally like to see the ladies play on a smaller field, actually.. The scoring would go up, and the ball would spend less time just bouncing between the arcs because it takes 3-4 kicks to get from HB to FF. Could even make it similar to the AFLx size in length 14 a side and IMO I reckon it would be a fantastic contest.

Games which feature 6 goals in a match combined (which does seem to happen frequently) won’t sell all that well to broadcasters in the long run and will struggle to maintain crowds when the AFL inevitably introduces an entrance fee.

Anyway, that’s off topic. I think we should put a lot of effort into getting Sam Kerr to come finish her sporting career with us.

Getting Sam Kerr would be like asking Rodger Federer to join a local table tennis team

There's a lot of talented youth coming through that can kick low flat bullet passes and hit targets which should be available around the time WCE come into the league, so as others stay the standard will improve dramatically when they start to get drafted. :)

Hasn’t stopped her brother from asking though - he thinks she will finish her career here after she stops playing internationally.
She has made it pretty clear she has joined the 'soccer is the only real football' crowd. Shouldn't be approached again imop. If she ever wants to play, let her turn up to a talent ID day and take her chances.

One of the biggest queries imo about AFLW is whether people will actually pay to watch it, they can't go on for too much longer with free admission surely? Apparently they will only survey people about whether they'd be willing to pay next season or not. If the cost is only $2-5 (Perth Glory W-League games began at that price), some people may still turn up, but what about when it becomes a minimum of $15-20 like other women's sports leagues? I think that both W-League & WNBL is about $15, netball apparently starts at $32.

The price will go up when the demand for the product increases. The league does have a consumer demand (supply) problem at the moment but that might change as the game improves over time.

Im pretty sure theyve increased AFLW tix to $2 entry.

Not sure if that or 2nd year drop off affecting crowds.

$2 was just the Optus stadium game. Think they may be asking a gold coin donation at some games for charity.

At this stage, I think attendance is more dependent on team performance than price. The curious coming to just check it out have already dropped off.

The Freo Lions game was during the worst weather Brisbane has had for years, at a ground apparently not really up to it, and they still got several thousand.

Ditto the GWS Crows game, was played in a monsoon.

Cannot imagine people willing to go to poor grounds in bad weather are going to drop of because of $10.

Ah ok cheers

If they went straight to the ridiculous AFL mens prices then I reckon the crowds would be under 200

I would like Week 1 2020 to commence with a Derby at Optus Stadium to finish Round 1 on Sunday and have it as a home game for West Coast. However I would like to see it being promoted equally by Freo. Set the challenge split stadium in 2 a wing each and an end behind the goals have a sea of Blue and gold and a sea of purple. Do the charity thing again for Telethon. Create a buzz about the 'Women's Derby'.

Expats gone east. I can't see the marquees returning but you should have a crack at the other 5. Whilst Collingwood is struggling they have Caitlyn Edwards, Ruby Schleicher, Tara Morgan. GWS Aimee Schmidt and as discussed Dogs Rachel Ashley.

Freo have been conservative so Eagles be bold!

Even though your home ground will be Lathlain Park take a game each season to Bassendon, Leederville, Claremont, Joondalup and maybe the Showgrounds. It might take a couple seasons to this.

Freo passed on Kate Bartlett maybe they might miss on Courtney Hodder. 6 tries in a match for Western Force and AFL Academy member who is eligible to be drafted to play AFLW in 2019.

Hoping West Coast force the issue on Representative footy. If not take on Crows academy.

NT may help now that 2018 will see the start of the NT Thunder in the VFWL there maybe some ready made player not being able to fit into the Crows where they can stay in Darwin. Perth maybe an easier adjustment then Melbourne. Like the way M. Rioli made his way from NT to Vic via WAFL.

I am just hoping that the AFL do not turn womens footy into something like the original womens basketball (netball). Could see players like Hodder pissing of and playing Rugby rather than a dumbed down, shortened bastardised pink version of footy.

My confidence that the AFL cannot really **** this up is dropping quickly.

Exactly right, let them play the proper product they grew up playing

Political suicide to not get a side. The club would be seen as bigots. Hence why every club wants a side now. A 6 to 8 team comp was all that was required for the Womens league.
They could of led the way in how the AFL should of been set up.
East melbourne
West melbourne
South melbourne
North melbourne
Sydney side
Brisbane Side
Perth Side
Adelaide side

No one would even know it existed, and half the cross coders wouldn't have crossed.
