OK nobody started a thread and it is Wednesday night so i thought i would get it rolling.

Can we win?
Can we lose by less than 80 points?
Will Cummings be back?
Will Gaspar stay in the side?
Will Matera be back?
Can the Eagles man up?
What will be the likely team?

Questions questions questions ????

Answers in order of your questions:

Yes we can win, any team can win on its day
Yes, we can lose by less than 80 points ;)
No, Cummings will be back the next week, he'll be rested
Gasper will stay in the side... he has to!!
Matera will be back, i hope so anyway, hes been great this year
Hmm, id like to think we can man up, if we dont, we're dead

im open to suggestions for our likely line up,

Heart says Yes, but head says No
Yes
No
Yes, & hopefully given more of a run this week
Fingers crossed
You'd hope so
No time to do a team at the moment..

Hopefully we'll see a full team effort this week....

The team for this week:

WEST COAST (to play WESTERN BULLDOGS )
Backs: Wirrpunda Carroll Collica
Half-backs: Hunter Jakovich, Peter Matera
Centres: Taylor Kemp Morrison
Half-forwards: Williams Gaspar Jones
Forwards: Phillip Matera, Wilson Embley
Followers: Gardiner Banfield
Rover: Cousins
Interchange: Braun Fletcher Harding Kerr
Emergencies: Chambers Cox Haynes
In: Jones, Peter Matera, Morrison
Out: Chambers Cox Turnbull

Carroll still named at fullback, Gaspar retains his spot and surprisingly, Cox out. Harding the dud is still there

does anyone else think its strange that Cox has been omitted?

i know he hasnt been the best player this year, but if we throw him in the ruck for a little while, its gives us the chance to put Gardiner in the forward line, where he seems to do really well

is this another of Judges coaching tactics? :D

I just came up with a reason for both Turnball and Cox being dropped, the bulldogs don't have that many talls so sacrificing our talls won't hurt as much.

Though now we only have Gardiner for the ruck, and if anything happens to him who will playin the ruck for us? Jako? Gaspar? Wilson? Carroll?

:D Anyone who thinks that "The best team wins on the day" is out of their mind. It doesn't work that way, any more. In modern Aussie Rulz, the better team will always win. So, I am out of my mind, because the Crows beat the Tigers? That was a huge surprise!

It is an amazing leap of faith to imagine that Judgey's rabble can beat the dirty Pitbulls this week. I'm glad I've been O/S again, because I hate seeing the Eagles lose, yet again.

The team, as selected, is demoralised and the Pitbulls are coming off a couple of handy wins.

GO EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also was a little mystified at the omition of Cox. If the Bullies are short on big men then go with Cox to create headaches for them??

Cox in the ruck, Gardy at CHF will draw a tall good defender to make it easier on Wilson Gaspar and Williams. Im glad to see Matera back in the side and the earlier than expected return of Morrison and Jones. Someone told me Jonesy was gone for 4 weeks? Obviously not, but then the question remains, are we rushing these guys back into the side? Hunter on the half back line i like, good to see him starting to hold his spot.

Fletcher needs a good game or he could be dropped and Harding actually playing for us???? Bad idea.

I take offence at you calling the bulldogs PITBULLS, are you inferring that this is a derogatory term, it is an insult to PITBULLS being mentioned in connection with the bullies, please try & come up with another name which doesn't insult a beautiful & intelligent breed of dog.
Oh & good luck guys, I think you might actually win this one.

My Tip: Haynes will play

Can we win? Of course we can!
Can we lose by less than 80 points? It's going to be another close one
Will Cummings be back? Nope - next week he will be back
Will Gaspar stay in the side? Yep, although I don't think CHF is his natural spot
Will Matera be back? Yep, what a relief!
Can the Eagles man up? They have to if they are going to win

Also, Haynes wasn't selected for East Perth and was listed as an emergency for the game. I won't be suprised if he gets a call-up for the game tomorrow night. I'm just not too sure on who he'll replace... maybe harding?

I dont think Harding really deserves to be in the team. Haynes should play instead of him. Carroll should be played at fullback only until Glass or McIntosh come back. I do believe however, that he is getting better and starting to settle in down there. When Glass and McIntosh are back, I think he should still be in the side. Cox last week didn't appear to do much, spent a lot of time on the bench. Concerning Chambers, its a rather strange situation, he never does bad, but never good but always gets kicked out?!?! Make or break year for him and things aren't looking good.

I think the key to the eagles winning this game will be, as KJ pointed out, the midfield. It has in the last few weeks lacked a spark, and i think moving either Roo or Wirra there is a definite must.

I think the key to winning our defensive 50 is to have the Bulldogs play Grant up front, as i think Jako would be a good match for him, otherwise what will we do with our vice-captain?

Also, Gardiner should be used in the ruck,NOT at CHF. He had one good game at CHF, in the ruck he would be more vital to us.

So here is my positional lineup:
Backs: Hunter Carroll Collica
Half-backs: Morrison Jakovich Jones
Centres: Taylor Kemp Wirrpunda
Half-forwards: Williams Gaspar Peter Matera
Forwards: Phillip Matera, Wilson Embley
Followers: Gardiner Braun Cousins
Interchange: Banfield Fletcher Haynes Kerr

Emergencies: Chambers Cox Harding
*NOTE: I swapped harding with haynes

*I believe Roo should be played up front, he has incredible skill, but is too cocky to be played in defense.
*Wirra in midfield to provide a spark
*Morrison on the HB line to provide a bit of drive out of defense

The rest is pretty much unchanged.

I still think Cox should remain in the side, as it gives Gardiner a chance to float forward.

And to boot, we also dropped Turnbull, which means Gardiner will have to play in ruck for almost the whole match.

If Carroll and Harding remain next week, i will scream blue murder, i just can't work out why they're still in. They're crap, and they're both going to struggle to make any impact in the future, so why not give a younger player some experience.

Interesting decision to omit two of our few remaining talls, isn't it? Given that I doubt Gardie is fully fit yet, I'd certainly would've left Cox in the side (and not just because he's in my fantsy team either ;)), to allow Gardie to push forward or even just to rest. While the bullies aren't the tallest team in the league, surely we still need more than one tall if we're to beat them?

Maybe it's a master plan Kenny has dreamt up, and we just don't get it?

What I want to see this week is stickability, to complement the passion, enthusiasm and energy I requested last time ;) Some of our guys go in hard, but don't follow up. Their opponants shrug off tackles with ease, and rebound ten times faster from marking contests. This week though, I want our boys to make like Libba in 97, and stick like glue to their opponants at all times. Otherwise, we will be looking at another 80+ point loss. I want to see toughness without stupidity, and more defending forwards. There's no doubt these two clubs have a bit of history, so the game should start off pretty firey. If we can ignore the bullies, and concentrate soley on getting (and keeping!) the ball, rather than the tactics of Wallace's boys, we can get in their heads, and put them off their game. However, we usually do react, so ignoring them might be a challenge.

Darcy v Gardie should be close, especially with neither team having a good backup ruck.
Given current form, I think Kempy is no longer any match for Scotty West. He is too good to concede defeat against, so I'd prefer to see him nulified using Jonesy, or as a last resort matched up on by Cuz. Westy will tear us apart if given the chance, so any move has to be made quickly.
Wirra will have to be far more close checking if he's to stay on Hudson.
The Barlett/Carroll duel could be interesting... battle of the hacks? I don't really rate either, so the winner could be the one who stuffs up the least.... ;) [apologies to any TB fans ;)]
I hope Jako can remain focused on the play this week. It's no secret to some people here that I think Grant is overrated ;) but given we dont have the option of forcing Grant into defence (he shouldn't need to anyway), he could be a problem. I adore Jak, but he's struggling at the moment.

I want Daniel Kerr watched. Maybe the Bulldogs don't do that 'welcome to the big league son' tactic anymore... but I still think it can't hurt to assume they do.

I'm definately no advocate of violence, but Troy Boy feels the need to throw his ample weight around this week, may I just suggest he focuses low? Around 164cm ought to do it ;)

Anyway, this is the first home game I'll miss in ages, so cheer loud for me guys :)

btw- if half of this is utter garbage... sorry! i'm tired and half pissed.... ;)

Also would've like to have seen Callum C stay in the team. Definately not the most skill of our team, but does at least go in hard... particularly when we're losing, which more than a lot of our 'senior players' are doing...
