This game just showed that our midfield does in fact have the ability to win clearances. Sure we were aided by no Jolly, but still, the Pies have one of the best mid in the comp and we slaughtered them. Also anyone who reckons Priddis isn't damaging is an idiot. More damaging today with his disposals than Swan. I also reckon that when Naitanui plays like he did tonight we are very hard to beat. It's almost like another player on the field.

Gaff is a superstar, Kerr back to his lofty heights, JK makes our forward line look super potent and our ruck duo smashed em all night.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say yes. We match up well and they don't have a tall defensive backline. So that could work in our favour. Night game at the G and this win would have given the boys a huge amount of confidence. The things we needed to see improvement in, we did. Clearance work was sublime, intensity was strong and the tackling was ferocious. Do i think we are favourites? No. Do i think the boys believe they can do it?. Yes. Our season whether Woosha admits it or not can go a long way to being decided next week. Beat Hawthorn at the G and who is to say we can't win the whole darn thing. Need to turn up with the same hunger though.

Great post and great summation. If indeed JK can provide a foil to Hill and Darling it may give us a chance.
I hope the midfield can do the same job. Though, they have been inexplicably patchy of late

Think we can do well against Hawthorn. IMO they still struggle with good big forwards, with JK back should make it awkward for them.
Also they give little credit to the ruck position playing Hale & Roughead there, which is another area that we can beat them. If the mids play like they did tonight clearances from that ruck domination should happen.

I wouldn't tip us but I honestly do think we have the back line to take their forwards and have a forward line to trouble their defence. Before tonight I would have said we would get slaughtered in the middle though. But I think when on song our midfield can get the job done. If we play at our absolute best I think we're a chance.
