Just saw on the realfooty website that they thought Wirrpunda would play forward pocket...I BLOODY HOPE NOT!!! Hope Munro gets to play as I reckon he is real talent.

I have no idea how WC will play, we might see a highly organised home outfit or something terrible. I think its time we started developing young kids like Munro to take off the load from players like roo. Roo could still be devasting if he played off the bench and came on in brilliant bursts. I just dont think he can play a full game anymore and thats why we need Munro.

So you rate Munro as a possible future roo? He must be damn good, because i haven't heard all that much about him.

Whats been happening with Kasey Green? He started so well last year but i haven't heard shit all from him since.

Just look for Greg Stafford to play another blinder against us! And Jase! grrrrrrr

As good as Roo.......hell no, but he looks to be a quite a good player and I think he should be getting more time. In the practice matches during the preseason he was pretty handy around goals from what I remember. He is still quite young as well.

Both Green and Munro should get more of a go, both will be great players for our future power team i feel, and we will have a good team, once they have a bit of experience!

It is interesting. I think Ash can handle Bally okay. Carrol v Luff will be interesting. Gardy v Stafford will be a real test. Williams v Williams will be a commentators nightmare.
If Gardy can do well in the ruck and the midfield gets going then it will be a close game.
I still can't see our half forward structure. Wilson is named there but last week when we desperately needed a CHF Wilson was benched. I hope Hunter shows something special. Can't undestand Donnely being missing.

I was reading the official WC handbook from 91 and 92 last night and it said in it that even then they had problems on the half forward line. Carl Langdon and Brett Heady played well there, but there was no real true half forward. I THINK ITS ABOUT BLOODY TIME WE DID GET A TRUE HALF FORWARD!!!!

PS. If someone tells me how to post pictures on bigfooty I will scan some of the photos and post them

Some of them are beauties, especially this Mainwaring mark which is on the front cover.

The Eagles Site says Cox and Munro in for Siera and Glass.

However, it said on the News Tonight that Troy Wilson got a corked thigh at training last Night. But should be alright. I just hope that the guy that run into hime is alright!!!!!!

On the AFL Site it shows Peter Matera under the injury Column listed for a test with no specific injury.

Emergencies are Chambers, Hunter and Turnbull so I suppose we have got everything covered.

I am glad Munro is playing. He will bob up and kick a couple. He isnt a playmaker but an opportunist. I think similar to Heady. But then again Heady was good in the midfield in one of our Premierships. I like Munro I think he has the goods.

In regards to Kasey Green. He seems to have disappeared off the planet. I think he was injured a bit during the preseason.

Its about time we Got a half forward line. First we say we need a CHF, as we have never really had one, now we see we don't have any true half forwards. We have plenty of youngsters we can mould to these positions so it is about time we used them!

How the hell is a guy meant to do maths homework just knowing that his team is getting hammered

What the hell is going on out there. Seems Gardy is the only one doing something constructive. Taylor has be usefull but we're being totally outclassed!!

Cousins is having the game of his life, 30 possessions and it's not even 3qtr time yet.

Morrison, fletcher and gardiner are also doing quite well, and Kerr is playing as well as last week with 14 possessions and a goal so far.

Jakovich has hurt his shoulder and won't come back. Braun and munro are also injured.

We really got hammered in the 2nd quarter, 8 goals to 2. We won the 3rd and 4th quarters and were only outscored by one goal in the first.

We came close. Last year we lost by 13pts in rnd two at home against sydney, this year we lost by 15.

Cousins got 38 possessions, Kerr got 20 and fletcher 27. Seems our midfield did alright but we failed to convert those possessions into goals. Another indicator of our weakness on the forward line.

Maybe next week against St. Kilda we'll do better. Hopefully we'll get tommy and cummings back, with a chance of Phil Matera playing. Lets hope KJ gives Gaspar a run.

Richard Taylor also played quite well finishing with three goals but some of those injuries are worrying. Just heard KJ's press conference on the radio and he reckons half of them aren't serious but is he just saying that?

Cox is a big bonus. It allows Gardy to be a focal point at CHF. With Cummings and Phil Matera back I can see a route to goals. Ash was better in attack than defence and maybe should be kept up there.
Midfield looked good and will be beefed up with the return of Kempy.
The problem is going to be defence. Jako was still slow and his going off was probably a good thing. Jason ball gave Ash a bath in the second quarter and Carrol did a better job. Wirra was much better in defence giving rebound than last week. But we are short oif fit talls in defence. Saints have a very tall forward line and we will find it difficult. I guess Turnbull will have to play CHB. Better to have the injuries now than mid season but who's to say more wont follow!

Very encouraging, and promising. Don't have time to say anything else.
One Problem INJURIES ALREADY :mad

OK heres my review of the game.

The late withdrawl of Cummings was a big loss as i didnt see us kicking a winning score without him but i was optimistic as we kicked the first goal of the game. THe 1st quarter was a little tit for tat but i thought our midfield was servicable and we ended up just a goal down at quarter time. At this stage i felt pretty good cos i thought we had a game on our hands although i still had doubts on whether or not we could continue to kick goals. But then the inevitable happened, injuries and our worst football shined through. Braun gone and our good start was totally ruined with some absolutely shocking decision making bad skills and execution and a little bad luck thrown in to boot.

47 points at the main break and i was thinking percentage. Start of the third and three ppl put there hands up and tried to change the game. Captain Cousins led by example as he started to get on top in the midfield, Gardy was sent down from heaven and could in the future be our answer to CHF and Cox dutifully took up in the ruck and to my surprise played great footy. The whole team followed and instead of dropping our heads and taking a 100 point thrashing we dug deep and found something which is very encouraging. The assault continued in the last with Taylor, Fletcher and Wirrpunda getting into the act as we came within 13 points of an unlikely win. Which brings me back to Cummings, i like Wilson but he had two set shots one 50 out just about in front and won about 35 out in a pocket. Switch Cummings for Wilson and he would at least have bagged one of them. With one of those it would have been 7 or 8 points and we could have given it a real shake.

Negatives - Injuries continue to run rampant through the team with Braun Jakovich and Morrison all going down. Our worst footy is really really REALLY bad.

Positives - Cousins is relishing his new found captaincy. Cox will be vital in the ruck this year allowing Gardy to become a target up forward. Youngsters all starting to find there feet with Kerr the standout. New guys starting to mould in with Taylor and Collica playing well. Held our heads high instead of a second half fadeout like so many times last year. Key guys still to come in like Cummings, Seira, Kemp, Matera, Glass.

Overall - i have found something to cling too

cheers.

I just can't believe Judge said half his team 'weren't serious'

WTFk ? is this guy on ?

After yesterday's game I don't think the WCE have anything really serious to be concerned about. As long as Gardiner keeps grabbing marks, Cousins and Morrison keep running and your young blokes keep trying then the WCE will put in a good competitive season.

But try telling that to Judge ?

He must drop the negativity - yesterday's little comment must seem like a punch in the stomach to some of your boys who tried their guts out there yesterday.

cheers

The biggest positive for me was the Eagles not giving up at half time and coming back with a good contest. Last year the final margin would of been an 80-90 point win to Sydney, If we can fit 4 quarters together we will not only contest matches but win some too.
