^^ Can't build size and endurance, they're counterproductive to each other. Unfortunate trade off of putting on muscle size is loss of endurance and agility. Could be a reason for decreased performance as running, jumping etc is not as good as it once was as he is carrying around 10Kg extra than a couple of years back

The thing with Notte was that he didn't break into a sprint once. I watched him for the whole 2nd quarter and he'd stand/walk for 5 minutes then when it was time to lead and break away from his opponent he'd jog. There's no anyone would've been too tired to sprint for 20 meters at that stage.

Remember it takes years to build up a decent weight for a KPF. About 5kg of muscle per year, while working off the added fat plus building endurance. He was drafted in 07 at around 70kg and is upward of 80kg now! So in another 2 or so years when he's above 90kg he'll definitely be making more of an impact.

So yes, give him time. Remember not only is he focusing on building his weight and endurance but also he's expected to play consistent football as well! If he's not looking good by the time his 2 year contract is up then yes we can start questioning him.

tell big tony he has worked off enough fat

no everybody can build muscle - he suspect tony will struggle big time

Can a player ever go from WAFL Reserve's to AFL in one week , because Weedon is body mature to play AFL ... its just or wait they played Swans in the WAFL reserves , i have seen them play .... not good

and equally unrealistic to expect him to ever dominate an AFL game if that is where he is after a few years as a full time professional.

*Facepalm*

He's 20!!! He won't be ready until he is at least 23 considering his body shape and the fact that he is a KPP, who take longer to develop than the smaller kids. Argue that he should be put on the rookie list, fine, but anyone calling for his head is way off the mark.

Why won't anyone be patient with him?

Gah!

When i mentioned his performance on the richmond board for any possible fans a couple of them got very pissy and i got screamed down about how he could never possibly be afl quality. The other factor that come through was that it was his career best performance to date.

Yeah. They have turned things around, but they won't admit they might have cocked up with JON.

I have had a quick look a while back and im 80% sure he never even kicked 2. If im wrong he would of only did it a handfull of times.

The small Victorian grounds wouldn't have suited his style, nor helped his development. The VFL is very contested and they are bigger bodied, he was a skinny kid away from home.

He's much better suited to WAFL grounds, hopefully thats giving him confidence to run and carry. :thumbsu:

Agreed, he also played for richmond which is never a good thing.

:thumbsu::thumbsu: Thanks Thorne, I gave up the resistance about 3 months ago!;)

He was tested at the DC with a height of 186cm and 80 Kilos.

He looks taller than LeCras so i think that figure is correct.

That's funny to me because I originally typed 186cm, but thought I better just check. His profile had 183cm, but he's likely grown in that time.
His profile needs an update. Why-o-why did I rely on that ever misleading official Eagles site.

The West Australian " AFL Watch "

Brett Jones - His best game in two years

Pat McGinnity - Won 25 touches in an absorbing battle with Andrew Krakouer

Ryan Neates " Messy " - Extreme pace makes him dangerous as a small forward

Tony Notte - Worked hard had little impact

JON - Lively with 23 possessions , nine marks and six goals

Will Sullivan - Outpointed in the ruck

Tom Swift - Gave the ball away too often

Garrick Weedon - kicked five goals in the reserves

Beau Wilkes - Started strongly but faded out

Callum Wilson - Booted four goals

Brett Jones in good form / Neates is dangerous - maybe give him a wildcard into WCE team soon / JON - fantastic to see :)

Edit Freo's Michael Walters BOG , fantastic game .... if Fremantle dont play him this year we should look at trading for him !

Happens all the time with Notte - I have my theory on this......

Just once I want to see them blast Notte

Tony Notte - Lazy skinny runt, needs a bullet

Laziness is not his problem, even the report says he worked hard, for no impact and he usually works hard for little, to no, reward. But of course you would know that by watching him every weekend!:);)

No offence, dude but I think your Swans bias has you blinded.

Pretty harsh words mate.Best not post at all.How often do you watch him play?
Ash Smith has played alot better in the AFL than the WAFL.I reckon Notte will be that type of player as well.

Those words also apply to Jarrad Grant last year. Saw him play a few times for 'Willy' and thought, what a waste of a top 5 pick.

Look at him now though, playing in a great team doesn't hurt also.. Remember Notte is taller, skinnier (just) and almost a year younger than Grant. Two more years at least imo.
