Big statement after today's somewhat under par performance (putting it nicely), following on from the similar result in Geelong. Ok, it's still preseason, but things are not looking that great as yet, are they. I mean, optimism is one thing, but I'll be holding off making bold predictions, based on not a lot, for another month or so.

based on todays game i dont think it will be this yr.They got alot of improvement to do before they are up there with a chance but saying that if we do play our best and everything clicks we would be a chance but everything will have to go right injuries etc for that to happen.

I stand by my original statement and refuse to base my opinion on a few pre season games.

Do you think Essendon are writing of their season based (before yesterday) on the pre season?

Brisbane lost to Geelong. Do you think they are at all worried about their up coming season?

Of course not. I refuse to let pre season games influence my thoughts on the season ahead.

There are 22 weeks in a football season, 4 weeks of finals. You don't get 4 points for playing Essendon in Bendigo, or Port Adelaide in a winery.

Yeah, winning is good, winning in February though? I couldn't give a ****. I still think we are a great team, and i still think we are in for a good season, and i also think that too many of us here are far too quick to write us off.

dd17, I made the decision to stay here to continue to take care of my parents for another year. I explained all in a thread in January:http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=56641

I made the right decision for sure. My dad is currently back in a nursing home. He developed pneumonia two weeks ago and during his stay in hospital it was discovered that he needed a pacemaker last Monday. Apparently his heartbeat dipped to about 20 on Sunday night and the decision was made early Monday morning to operate right away. He's very weak from this latest setback and is having physical therapy in the nursing home to strengthen him up so he can return home. We'll find out the plans about him coming home on Tuesday. He now has seven major things wrong with him, but he's a fighter! Hey, he even saw a Bulldogs match when he and my mum came to visit me in May 1979. (We beat South Melbourne at the Western Oval that day!:D) I guess he was a Doggie supporter before you were even born! He proudly wears a Western Bulldogs polo shirt. In fact, he has it with him in the nursing home! But I think that's just to chat up the good looking nurses.......;)

Hope he gets better soon Chicago1. Your right he likes the doggies so he is a fighter, and he will get through all of this and be fit and healthy again.

Maybe he could sign up a few new members among the nursing home patients and staff... Only kidding, wish him all the best from all of us and tell him to hang in there, like a true Bulldog!

My Dad is in a very similar predicament and has been so for 13 years. best of luck to you and your family.

Incidently m Dad is convinced the better looking nurses have a crush on him :) . Only wish I could say the same :( ;)
