Re: Western Region Football League team

Colts were very very good yesterday. Think there might be some nervous Spotty blokes for the week, because Colts put it all together yesterday and were awesome. Also think Colts still had a few guys down still, and Caddy didnt kick straight either. Lindsay was best on ground by far, dominated all day and would have easily had 35 touches. Hoppers were pretty dissapointing right from the start, Colts got out early and never looked like getting beaten. Winters was also very good early. Next week will be an absolute cracker. Possibility of Massis back too i hear. Spotty might be slight favourites but going on yesterday im gonna go with Colts.

It was a pleasing performance cabs although we did switch off alot in the last 20minutes after having a 57 point lead, but the first 3 and a bit quarters were great and we did finish again with no bench, caddy rolled ankle,he will be fine already jogging on it,elton had a minor corky again he will come up and finaly millen torn hammy very doubtful but we look forward to getting masis back and maybe j.caddy so we should have plenty of run for next week.As for lindsay 45 touches and 3 goals was an awesome display.
Spotty are a great team and will be very hard to beat but we feel they are ready for the picking 11 wins in a row 1 game in 4 wks and some of their player have had even less footy, so if we can execute our game plan i feel that our players are finals hardened and will be fired up to take this premiership home.3 peat is alive and with in reach.....GO COLTS.

Re: Western Region Football League team

Now we are down to two.
Spotty have been the dominant team all year only 1 loss to the colts in rd 8 by 43 points and since have beat all comers and have two wins against the colts by 32 points and 7 points,
Colts on the other hand are in to their 4th consecutive grand final and are full of experience and rise to the challenge of finals.Although we have a had three consecutive finals it's the way we have done it the past two years, but we are in good form but go into the grand final as the underdog a tag we love, two quality teams and i'm sure it will be a great grand final and one we want more than anything.
Also a great club effort to get both seniors and reserves into the grand final especially with all our injuries..........GO COLTS.

How's spotty looking anyone kno?,with the week off they should be full strength, but have herd big boy jensen may have a cracked sternum, anyone know if this is true??? either way i will test it out along with a few of my teammates.Along with spotty we will not leave no stoned unturned in our quest for victory...

Re: Western Region Football League team

Good to see Geelong have a win today. Like Spotty and Colts (maybe) they are keeping a lid on things. Sure it is a big nite down at the WF Tip after the double today. Altona Juniors going for a rare double next sat Morning after their B team won today and the As going for an undefeated season.
Is anyone keen to play at the tip next year. Maybe the League should ask them to find a ground or as mooted a couple of years back they may join with Parkside to become the West Footscray Magpies (sure Bones and the boys would love that !! ).
Congratulations to all teams in the GFs next week. It is why we play. Colts the only Club represented in more than one game. Well done.
As I said a few weeks back, when it is all said and done it will be teams who get more done than said that will be celebrating Saturday Nite and beyond.

A very worldly post there champ, you cover a little bit of everthing, slap some in the face whilst patting others on the back. Your background must be one of great experiences. Please continue to enlighten us with your words of wisdom. Can you start with some likely match ups that we may see this week. Delving a little deeper you write similar to a regular poster who has gone a little quite over the last couple of weeks?

Re: Western Region Football League team

A SPECIAL DAY AT SPOTTY FOOTBALL CLUB.

The clubs favourite player and an all round wonderful bloke BEN KELLY celebrates his 28th birthday this friday the 14th, yes 28 we all know he looks 48 but his head has been at the bottom of plenty of packs so it's a little rugged.
There will be a party held for Ben at the club rooms this friday free drink all players invited make sure you get there.

I see that you support Collingwood. Maybe we will catch up in 2 weeks at the G.
With Colts and Spotty having played each other twice in the past 6 weeks I don't think that you need to be "Magnet Men" Ellis or Langlands to propose a couple of tantalising match ups that I think we may see on Saturday.
Sablich-Winters, Wilson-Clarke, Mangan-Caddy, Jensen-Brannan, Bonnett-Keenan, Debruin-Molan, Cox-Montebello, Massis-Kelly, Webb-Beazley, Wilson-Lindsay, Twomey-Harris, Cooper-Szalay, Puhar-Julier, McAnulty-Musca etc.. etc..
Maybe you can delve a little deeper and come up with a couple of others that involve the likes of Critch, Stevens, Bracken, Caddy, Langlands, Patak, Hayes, Pelar etc..
Should be good !!

Caddy would tear Mangan a new one! would absolutely towel him. they would have to play either Monty or Jensen on him. thats why Colts will get up, Spottys backline just doesnt have enough guys to cover them. Interesting to see how bigfootys favourite poster Crackers goes. gone a bit quiet on here the last few days!

Re: Western Region Football League team

Agius is #9 played on the wing this year. Ali played most of the year in the 2's spooner goes alright for a 19 year old
have heard all the rumours re: leaving, we are in dispute with the league but can tell you we havnt applied to go any where else. you will just have to put up wlth our crowd a bit longer.
I am pretty sure the reason why St Albans are not playing in the EDFL next year is because they will not come to terms with the EDFL. The EDFL have welcomed them into the competition but have told them that they will have to play B grade first and that they will not be given an open invitation in to the A Grade competition.

My opinion is there Should be a league that consist of these teams.

St Albans
Sunbury
Gisborne
Keilor
Port Colts
St Kilda City
Greenvale
Melton
Melton South
Strathmore
Sunshine Kanagroos
Avondale Heights
Spotswood
+ 3 more teams.

have a top 8 and so on

ill be at sunshine again mate. xave didnt actually play footy this year, started at melton but just wasnt interested so he had the year off. probably wont play next year either. not too sure about foley, have heard he may be coming back to sunshine in possibly a coaching role but i cant see him leaving Willy. if he didnt get injured he was a chance to play 1's there, so i reckon he might stay. would love to get him back though, he could prob be the best player in this league nearly.

Probably is a big call.. A coaching role also... another big call but there will be a few clubs chasing him I reckon but a shame a guy like tht cant get a game on the seniors at willy. Will be different in two years when collingwood not with them and guys like Ben will play seniors so he may stick around there for a while

I was thinking exactly the same thing. If they can't get over yarra and glenordinary i think slogging it out against this super league might be a big call.
Has anyone ever heard wind of this concept? The way the WRFL is going with teams dropping out, and rumours flying around about teams wanting to depart, it'd be little wonder if the league is still around in 10 years....or at least it'll be intersting to see the quality.

Not forgetting Theodore and Jacobs?? , perhaps one of the fore mentioned may be a little too close to home to comment on?

Would you care to go out on a limb and give us your educated opinion to the likley outcome.

In first division no team has left and as for the roumors of teams leaving well they are just troumors and until any side has gone lets not worry about that.
As for the league the western suburbs is on a boom growth so don't expect it to slow down and there for the football league will prosper, footy is a religion our only concern is the water crisis and weather we will have grounds to play on

Thought I would leave the playing coach and the captain for some other luminaries to comment on. Not sure what you mean by close to home, neither have been to my place, not whilst I have been home anyway !!

Not sure how educated this is but my opinion is that because Colts have had 3 hard games in 3 weeks on a hard ground and in the heat (they had their 3/4 time address on Sat in the shade) they will stay with Spotty for 3 quarters in what will be an enthralling contest only for Spotty to pull away in the final quarter with fresh legs to win by 16 points.

that is what people said last year that we would tire and get runover but when the premiership is within reach and the adrenalin is high you find another gear....... will be another good grand final for wrfl and i can't wait
