Re: Western Region Football League team

Seen Fatty Zavalas out Saturday night spoke with excitement about his new role, his brother is following him there and they are close signing Juegan as well would be a fair team he also is keen on losing 10 kilos.

DaVinci heard you took a pay cut so you could squeeze in all the superstars along with fellow captain Joksen, any truth in it
that josken is a great captian, thanks for ur input.....NEXT

Looks like Albion are shaping up to be the biggest recruiters of the off-season, not a bad effort. It'll be interesting to see how things change around there nex year. Anyone else got any big player movement news?

They always are. The difference this time is that they have picked up proven performers from this comp. Should definitely be very competitive next year with a realistic shot at a top 3 finish. Lets not predict anything too soon though, people have been wrong b4 about Albion.

Re: Western Region Football League team

monty and ray are broke because they waste all there money on the gym and spray tans, and they are still ugly. yeah i got a couple of nice offers, but nothing compares to a channce to win back to back flags!!

not sure about musca, did hear he was keen to go back and play vfl if so all the best to him, would be a bit of a loss to us he is a quality player.

how is ur team shaping up? kept most of ur team from last year? picked up any?
You only stayed at Spotty bcos other clubs couldnt guarantee that you would nail any of their horrific trainers.

Thats funny stuff seems you have me a bit mixed up my friend, if i did play i wouldn't be worth much in the 2's. But being a Spotty follower i have heard that the 2 captains in question are playing without match payments in 2008.

True, it seems the more albion have spruiked in the past the more they have been let down. I reckon they'll keep a real lid of this at the moment and just play it safe. Good on em though, nice to see the league shaping up. Too bad some of the lesser teams couldn't pick any success so far.

I dont think anyone is saying they do, I for one have posted before that I think the current blokes are doing well with what they have.

The discussion was all about "oppurtunitys that arise" some clubs are pro-active in this regard and others aren't.
Obe1 you might be able to answer this, any truth to the rumour that Albanvale are broke and are goin to fold.

Is it Albion that spruik or is the comp that jumps on them after they go and unsuccessfully recruit the wrong players? After years of playing them l couldnt really say l can think of many cocky players, like all teams im sure theres some but l think its more the hype generated by the comp rather than by Albions core players.I might be wrong and havent heard it

Beazer youve won a couple of flags now, what are your feelings of doing a full circle and finishing where it started at Altona in a coaching role im sure youd be like Carlton getting Chris Judd and who knows players from the club might come back and join you, and take the club with its impressive juniors coming thru to its former glory

I think the Albion talk is probably a combination of both. I dont think its them being cocky, rather them being optimistic each year and it never coming to fruition. I do agree that the comp helps give this impression also.

On the coaching point, Id like to coach somewhere one day and there is a bit of romance in the whole Altona thing. What people probably dont realise is that Ive never played seniors there and the last I played there was as a bottom aged u/16 bcos I played at the Jets after that. The closest I came to playing seniors was when Roo Muschelli was going to pick me in the seniors when I was 15 then pulled me out bcos we were playing Braybrook and they thought it was too dangerous. I have actually spoken in conversation to my parents and a few others about going back there at some stage but Im happy at Spotty, so at the moment my efforts are with them, and being involved in a history of our own.

Only time will tell I guess, whats more important is clubs move on from where they left off the previous year. Albion may be seen to be recruting well but history shows that Parkside were not good enough in 05 with the above players plus.

Do you think Albion will be better than the 05 Parkside team?

Keep in mind Spotswood have raised the bar and colts are never to be written off. Hoppers have also improved and the Saints are recuiting well.

I also hear that for every signing there is a youngster moving on, with Deer Park looking to benefit from the above.

In 06 parkside were favorites to win the flag until they self destructed
6 top players into a side that finished 4th im sure they will improve on that position.
Albion look to have improved but will the other sides improve ?

In order to be succesfull you must improve, time stands still for no-one.

Albion's general improvment this year came from the quality on-baller's they recruited, a forward who was resonable at times at a few younger blokes who stood up and last but not least a coach who gave them direction.

Most of those who have signed are also on ballers. Unless there a some key posistions players on the horizon, I feel they will be much the same.

Yeah, your right again, and most of them were against the crap teams, Condos also kicked heaps against the lesser teams as I recall, two years down the track I dont imagine things will be any different.

So the talk so far is Albion,Spotswood,Colts,Hoppers and Saints about recruiting,is this already who will be playing finals in 2008.Sunshine know doubt will be wanting to ensure they stay within the mix.
But what is happening to the other four teams that are at the bottom of the ladder, will it be the same again, just there to make up the numbers?

Re: Western Region Football League team

Jesus, if Pattie Davis is kicking 90 goals in a season in the WRFL then the boys I know who are heading to Hoppers are going to run riot.
Pattie to his credit has demonstrated some real footy ability! He is a huge man and against those weaker sides who don't have anyone big and strong enough to defend him he has had a field day. He has also played a lot in this league and people don't adjust to this style of footy all the time but he has. So as for your boys who just went to Hoppers wait and see. I have seen many a men talked up about but fail to live to the hype!

yeah maybe your right about pattie but i reckon your a bit harsh on condos he kicked 85 goals remembering he was only 21 this year as a 22yold he kick 80 goals for keilor in the edfl which is regarded alot better comp than wrfl what do you think ?

Last I heard was that he is training flat out and been doing a heap on the dirtbike. Even talk that he might have a crack at a few races.
