"Pat Hinds as a junior administrator set up a 10 year plan for the juniors in the late 90s, he got the junior teams out of B and C grade put them into the As and hoped that in 10 years time to have these young boys playing in a strong spotty senior side, lots thought he was mad, he stood on a few toes. the strength of spotty juniors is a credit to him."

Hear, hear! Does he get the credit he deserves or is the usual happenings at footy clubs the order of the day? You know, give the credit to the blokes who benefit from the planning i.e. the coaches?
What about Tony Walshe?
Sensational coach, I've played 3 coaches and can honestly say there's none better at junior level, IMO.
Last year, coached the 14A's side to a 40 point win premiership & then, as if that wasn't enough, got the 16D's to a Grand Final where they lost by 12 points, after not having a team until Round 3.
Now coaching the U16A's who are having a real crack at finals, he's got two sons, one of which plays in the 16's and one in the 14's.

Also played in a premiership at Spotswood, if I remember correctly..
Any of the Spotswood boys here played under him?

Ok people let's put our reputations on the line with some predictions on how the ladder will finish, we have some important games coming up for all sides on the run home and into the finals.
Also let's just say i know we have had some big margins in alot of games but at least the fight for a finals spot is still open to 6 teams and may stay that way til round 18.
Injuries and availability will play an important part.
LADDER AFTER RD 18
colts
spotty
albion
st.albans
sunshine
I went for sunshine to sneek in alot will depend on this week, but i believe they have the talent to beat any team on their day, hoppers seem to be slipping again and i don't think their depth is as good as it has been in the past.
Albion should hold on to 3rd spot and i think we might be able to sneak into top spot if we can beat hoppers at home, % mite play apart.
Look fora great finals series and albion and spotty to play two weeks in a row.
OTHER PREDICTIONS PLEASE
if the ladder finished like that it would be a very interesting 1st week of finals as sunshine and st albans would play 2 weeks in a row also

Interesting to note that in the local paper, the spotty president not giving the colts much credit for the win and by some of his comments not really rating the colts. Saying it was the worst they had played all year, (i thought getting smashed by sunshine on anzac day might be up there)
Also that the colts played their best footy or something along those words, yes we did play well but we were dissapointed with some things also and feel we have alot of improvement in us.
Now this is not trying to stir the pot i have alot of time for murphy, i had a quick chat with him after the game and wished him all the best, maybe i'm reading to much into it.

Settle down mate, don't start comparing Spotty with Yarraville i think thunderball's post summed it up. Don't worry about how Spotty develop their youngsters i think we have a proven track record with our youngsters playing quality senior footy, and to add Urch, Houli, Ward all spotty juniors.

To question how Spotswood select their team and develop their juniors into senior footballers is ridiculous, i think we stand amongst the best in doing this!!
just hope all the work put in over the past doesnt come crashing down in one bad year would be a shame to all the poeple that put all that hard work in to those kids and the club:confused:

Don't read to much into it. No one apart from you blokes can really say that you played your best footy on the day. Spotty people have seen you twice this year so how can they even call it close to your best footy? That being the case, you take it with a grain of salt.

Spotty were just as bad against Port as they were on ANZAC day. No better, no worse. Make no mistake, Murphy and the club rate Colts and the other teams doing well. They have no choice otherwise there may be more losses like that to come.

Now stop looking for fuel to motivate you blokes for next time..haha.

Colts don't need motivation to get up for a spotty game, the last 5 times have proved that, you got us at home last year by 5 goals and beat us in to finals by 1 goal each time, this year we have you by 1 goal and a 5 goal margin......but as ben kelly said you only have to beat us once, that's if both team make the gf.

Astro, not sure what you are getting at but posts over the past couple of days indicate that you are disgruntled over yourself or someone you know not getting a fair go. Maybe you/he should go through the correct channels ie. The Coach and/or Selection Committee. Not too many blokes have got a game through veiled statements on Big Footy or in the Media.

If Astro is a supporter/interested onlooker, what's the chances of a coach/selection taking his arguments into consideration? Astro is most likely expressing an opinion, as most are in here. That's the beauty of such a forum and not many make thinly veiled statements in the hope of influencing selection decisions.
If Astro is a player, he may have already taken your advice and gotten nowhere.
Clubs make decisions according to policy and have to deal with consequences, good or bad. They aren't going to make everybody happy.

Sunshine will win this week and will keep pushing for a top 5 spot.
Have a few players back from last week and the confidence is up to knock over Albion at home.

Also Happy Birthday to Wayne Begbee this week. All the best buddy.

A big game this week between arch rivals, sunshine & albion, it is a very important game for both sides in the make up of the top. Firstly the cats need to consolidate there position in the top 3 a loss here could put alot of pressure on them with game against hoppers and spotty away. A loss for the kangas at home will finish their season in my opinion but a win will get them back on track an confident and that should see them sneek into the 5.
My tip at this stage is the kangas, but would like to know from both parties what players are unavailable, this could swing my tip....

Crashing down in one bad year are you for real the seniors are sitting 2nd and the 2's undefeated on top, youngsters such as Pope, Noye, Porcevina, Murat have played seniors this year as well as other youngsters continuing to establish themselves as established senior players.
I like thunderball am starting to get a feel of disgruntlement towards the club.

So tell Doctor DaVinci what's wrong, did you not get your name in the paper, did the coach give you a spray or have you just detached from your mother? Like you yourself said just go get a kick and stop crying!

I dont understand all this talk about spotty, which kids are/arn't getting games in seniors/reserves. In the seniors there have been plenty of kids come in & out of side, its all about team balance not how old a player is. Some senior players have been rested last 4 weeks which has given opportunities for other players to prove themselves. There would only be 1 or 2 players waiting for there chance but unfortunatly when you have such a strong side sometimes a few miss out. Again its all about team balance. The reserves are undefeated & flying so i dont think you can criticise there selections, just shows the great depth spotty have.

Don't tell me you believe everything that is written in the Newspapers or even on Bigfooty?
I am yet to read the newspapers this week, but from what I have been told that has been printed this week, the truth has been twisted AGAIN.

If you heard last Saturday night in the Spotswood Rooms, it was stated that Port Colts are definitely the bench mark this year and are going to be difficult to beat.
Yes it was a bad game from Spotty last week, but it was never mentioned their worst performance.

All Reporters use the same motto “Never let the truth get in the way of a good story”

Now, now fellas, easy does it.
Why don't we leave the Psychoanalysis to the professionals and discuss this like local league supporters/players/officials or just ring ins.

Dr Davinci.
Since when was presenting an opinion and being critical of selection decisions an indicator of a few screws loose upstairs? If that was the case, most people in footy clubs would be visiting a shrink. Both you and Thunderball have argued Spotty's case and if people still don't agree, then discuss the details of who, why, when, and how? Perhaps in private message rather than on the forums. Wouldn't want other clubs thinking that there's a storm brewing at the club...haha.

Astro. You a player, supporter or ring in?

Great rivalry between the two sides so you're right, no need to pull out the Rocky movies or play 'eye of the tiger' before the games. Ensures that the game is about winning rather than punching the crap outta each other. A bit of the latter doesn't hurt just to spice things up a bit. One thing's for sure, neither side will go down without a fight. Finals will be good to watch. I feel a month of Saturday sickies coming on.
