I think we have- it was shown today.

We have a great midfield but are too one dimensional when it comes to kicking to a leading forward. We should have more options than little phil.

Our backline is missing blokes like collica and read. But we are still short of a tall key defender. McIntosh has been great for our club for 10+ years, but he is too slow (he's limping for farks sake).
Glass is not and never will be the answer and carrol is makeshift.

The time is now for woosh to play young blokes like lynch, doogal, staker and Hansen inorder for a serious assault on next years flag. Because we aint there yet !!

We did have more leading options than Phil in the first quarter. Phil, Chick, Haynes and Jako were all constantly presenting. And we were winning it out of the midfield.

I would love to see Collica and Read come in, but only if fit. Humm provided nothing again today and must be considered for the axe. Ditto Munro. Wooden also must be considered.

McIntosh is well past it now. On the plus side he didnt give away a free kick for deliberate out of bounds this week. I think Glass has shown a bit more of late, and wasnt overly bad today. Then again once the pressure is on the brain goes out the window.

In fairness to our forward line, we are the leagues leading scorers. Not much more could be asked of the guys.

Our midfield is looking like it could do with the break now, but have done a great job so far. Seaby has had great WAFL form (probably the best form of any of our "other" players) of late and could come in to give Gardiner some help. Wooden or Chambers could be given a go to give someone a rest.

Our backline is startng to struggle, young key backmen are desperately needed. Staker could be given a go. Gaspar could also move down back and another young tall could be pushed forward i.e. McDougall, Hansen, Johnson (even Wilson).

In saying all that, I think the best thing for us will when we have the week off so we can recharge the batteries.

The wheels started falling off when Woosha stopped rewarding WAFL form. Munro, Humm, Hunter and McIntosh shouldn't be in the team, while Seaby, Wooden, Morrison, Wilson and Collica should based on their WAFL performances.

Suddenly there's no competition for a place in the team and the guys are going into games full of complacency. If there was pressure on guys to keep their spots, we'd have more people than Chick and Fido chasing their man.

I was disappointed that Gaspar got the nod ahead of McDougall too.

Woosha has stressed that he is picking players on WAFL form, yet Gaspar after one week in the WAFL (which he was beaten by McPharlin) after returning from injury, he got the CHF position ahead of Doogs.

Doogs is a better ruckman than Gaspar too - which means Gardiner could have had more support and could have played at CHF for periods in the game.

There isn't anything wrong with the forwadline even if Haynes is small - he is pretty usefull.

In the backline though, we are desperately short on tall backs. Jako is way too slow now, but has reinvented himself as a forward. Milli is also too slow, and Glass and Carroll just aren't upto it.

We definetaly have to try Gaspar down there at some point, as well as McDougall and Staker, and even Hansen. We just have to try something down there.

Small backs isn't a problem but out starting small backs are - Banfield, Hunter and Humm's form is ordinary - Green is really turning a big corner I reckon and playing well, so we should look to get Read, Morrison and Collica back in pretty soon.

Basically, the only player who sohuld be assured of a spot in the backline is Wirrpunda.

The backs have been doing allright this year because our midfield is doing so well, but on the weekend we got shown up severely down there.

We should have Collica, Read, Wirrpunda and Morrison down there. Collica can play as a third tall in extreme circumstance. While we need to try someone apart from Milli/Glass/Carroll as tall backs.

I question people's knowledge of the WAFL as only vicki, I and a couple of others actually go - you can't just look at the stats and say "he deserves a go in AFL" - it just doesn't work like that.

Classic example - Willo. A great favourite of mine. Kicked 5 goals against West Perth the other Monday therefore he should have played against the Bulldogs - right? Wrong. Was dominated for nearly 3 quarters by Simon Duckworth (yes, used to be a rokie Eagle a long time ago). Is playing in front of the best team in the WAFL (at least for the last 3 years, arguably the equal best now:D ). Would not match up well against the Bulldogs where we run the risk of being run off our feet (hindsight? moi?). Doesn't show particularly good second efforts - it's just that he's so much bigger and stronger than the competition and can lead and mark well to a dominant midfield.

Also, be fair, the only one who's shown consistently that he's worth it in the WAFL is Wooden. Seaby is young and developing - it would be premature to throw him in, even this week against Brisbane after his last month. Collica is really struggling to come back from injury - at his best, he's in my 22 too, but he hasn't been able to show that in the WAFL and now he's injured again. Phil Read is injured - otherwise he would definitely be in the side, since he got back in for the Derby and played so well, he hasn't been dropped - he's done an ankle. I see Chambers every week (ish) and I wouldn't have promoted him on his form this year.

Note also that every player dropped from Eagles to WAFL does well - there is a gap in class you know. Adkins, Morrison last week, Banfield, even Humm.

So have we. :)

Oh, for the days when slipping to third meant it was time to write off the season!
The guy has a point! :D

I also agree with everything that VOR said. I dont see any WAFL games, to be honest, they dont interest me. Ive never had a team like I have the Eagles and it's just a poor version of the real stuff IMO.

So I can only go by stats and by what people like VOR say about the game. From what I hear, only Doogs and Wooden are due for a call up.

It's not panic stations just yet. Tough ask this weekend, then a weekend off the recharge the batteries then the run home with a kind schedule. Top 4 here we come IMO.
