White has started to become a regular in the coaching staffs eyes it seems. This is a good thing. If he chooses to stay with us next year, which he should, then he will probably play all 22 games barring any injuries.

yeah good point - except maybe bode, Guearra and eagleton from the WB and didnt chapman from geelong come from the power ??

Bode plays well when you blokes give him a run, which is about once a month, so he hasn't been used as well as he should have.
Guerra and Eagleton are both good players but havent exactly stopped us from being a top four side, and we also picked up Montgomery who has become a B & F and an All Australian for us.

Its also good to see Tom Harley improve because he couldn't get a run in our team and he is now playing in an exciting Geelong side who have taken all before them this year.

So point taken and thanks G37

I thought they were a genuine contender last year. This year I think they are more mature and are playing better footy. This is their best chance so far to win it.

I disagree.

That's what everyone thought last year

Last two years they were playing excellent footy, no worse than they are now.

Percentages say that they can't continue to stuff it up from so high on the ladder.

I'm with Stiffy on this one. I think Port are playing better, more mature footy this year. Games like the Bulldogs and Melbourne - last year we would've coasted for long stretches and fell over the line. They all count as wins, but some are more impressive than others. I've been much more impressed with the way we've won this year. Could all still count for jack in September tho ...

Exactly this year port has a bit of a mongrel in them in a sense that they really finish sides off when there is an opportunity to do so. I also think you are playing a better band of footy this year that shouldn't come unstuck in finals.

Good luck to you anyway;)

I'll take that on face value. Thank you Stiffy.

Ive been more impressed with our wins this year than last. The second half of last year we just coasted along for hte majority of the games, won by 3-4 goals without stressing too much and it caused our downfall in the first final when we couldnt shift out of first gear.

This year weve been putting sides away and have been more impressive in our wins. Weve gone on with it so far. Instead of getting 6 goals up early on and then coasting for a 3-4 goal win, weve gotten 6 goals up and then continued on to win by 70+.

Im not certain about our gameplan still....i think this hot potato handball thing is going to seriously come unstuck in the finals...but at the moment weve played better this year than last year.

Apart from sacking Choco what would fix it? It's not as if you lack a quality midfield or an abundance of options up forward.

Agree the overall performances this season have been more impressive than 2003 - and in the face of far greater adversity.

Well im not sure what would fix it. Its still the relatively same gameplan. Its just instead of kicking it sideways across half back we end up having 7 handballs across half back.

I think under intense physical pressure, this will come more unstuck than last year or the year before.

I dont think Crows fans can be talking about some of Ports worse trades when you consider your record. The only trade i would want back would be Tom Harley.

Who did Port get for Harley, or was it a draft pick in return?

Port Adelaide received pick 37, whom they then went and used to select Adam Morgan, currently at the Bulldogs.

Cheers.

I would have thought that RFK for Guerra was worse than that as at least Morgan has some ability.

Also, what did Port get in return for Kingsley?

Problem is, Morgan's only beginning to show that ability at the Dogs, which, you could argue, is just as bad knowing a player shows his potential at another club.

Kent Kingsley was traded with Wade Kingsley for Paul Geister. Kangas then traded Kent, along with pick 45, to Geelong for pick 42 in the 2000 draft, with which the Roos picked up Daniel Pratt (currently at Brisbane). And for anyone who wanted to know, pick 45 was traded to West Coast as part of the Mitchell White deal. The Eagles used that pick to secure Trent Carroll.

For Morgan it was more a case of lack of opportunities, though Thurstans could argue along similar lines.

K Kingsley > Geister & > Carroll

Oh Yeahhhhh Damon White.... a good Perth boy.. and Eagles supporter growing up... is leaving Port to wait for it... go to Adelaide bwahaha. I'll give you a tip.. if White leaves Port.... it won't be the Crows he will be wanting to go to. It's back home. Some of you people really need to think out your posts. Why not try and aim for some Sth Australian talent because you have absolutely no chance of attracting interstate players.

Agreed TP. There appears to be this misguided belief amongst a large number of Crows followers that every AFL player dreams of playing for the Crows :(

This type of twisted logic is promoted by the likes of Nigel "Not So" Smart who, about a month back, wrote an article suggesting that Josh Carr was going to leave Port Adelaide to go to Adelaide. Now JC's reason for wanting to leave Port is to go home to WA and play alongside brother Matthew so why on earth would he leave Port (where he is a vice captain and highly paid player) to stay in SA and play for Adelaide?

That's a funny view on that article

It was written for one reason only - to stir Port supporters. It worked as Rucci had to rebut it in the Advo the next day. It was classic Smarty

Agreeing with TP means you lose all credibility already, but who on here has even said whether White want's to play for Adelaide or not. The topic is based on what player the AFC need and Damon White fits the bill. Whetehr he wants to play for the AFC is known to him and him alone.

Tom Harley???

And if Port have existed since 1897 they have given away the likes of Ebert, Buckley Wanganeen etc etc ;)

Exactly Jars. Which is why the PAFC (which HAS existed since 1897) got so pizzed off with developing all this talent and then seeing them going on to play in the VFL that they decided too join the VFL/AFL for the 1991 season.

And a few more,

Anderson, Abernathy, Bradley, Delaney, Didak, James, Johncock, Lokan, McLeod, Obst, Phillips, Russell

I must have missed the humour in my take on "Not So"'s article.

It was written for only one reason and that is to sell papers because "Not So" peddles the kind of piffle that many (not all) Crows followers love to read. I agree it certainly got up Rucci's nose but that's not a bad thing.

Yes, I see TP was banned from this board for not toeing the "agree with Jars458 at all costs" line.

It is not I that lack credibility.

The point TP was making and with which I agree is that even if the AFC have something to trade for Damon White and the PAFC are willing to trade Damon White he is unlikely to want to move to the AFC. While to the world at large this is quite a valid and reasonable opinion as this is at odds to the almight Jars458's opinion it was be ridiculed and the forwarder of such opinions derided.

I apologise if my differing opinions interrupted your little like minded fellows back slapping session :(

I had no idea TP was banned and it had little to do with me or my opinions.

Alternative view points are accepted here no problems. You just need to back them up.

Smart stirs the pot and you obviously don't like him but that's your perogative.

Your view that White MAY want to move here was agreed with by me. Who knows whether he would or wouldn't. So how thats a contrary opinon I am not quite sure

You must be well aware that TP under this and his other names does nothing but troll. If you support that, well good on you.

Sorry Jars458, confused you with Macca23. Both Crows players and numbers. My humblest apologies for casting aspersions :(

No, my opinion is that White will NOT want to move to Adelaide.

why must I? It wasn't until after I quoted his post that I became aware of all of the controvesy surrounding him.

Sorry, I meant may not.

How do you know whether he does or doesn't? Its a moot point surely.

The thread is about the fact that we would like to get him and I think most supportes have agreed that its unlikely Port will firstly want to trade him adn secondly want any of our players in return.

But you never know.

I certainly don't know. I'm just expressing MHO. It is certainly a moot point.
