Reminds me of the Rally Monkey from MLB.

i'm a definite, old fashioned "no". The AFL rushing to monetise it is no surprise.

I hope Richmond continue to hold the line and refuse to do it, just like they don't use goal music, cos I'm sure my club has already begun deciding which tune to use. Carmina Burana is my bet.

Fremantle fans seem to enjoy it.

It's massively popular amongst Dockers supporters, it's something that's uniquely us and it does a good job of not only pumping up the fans in attendance but it gives the boys a lift too. It's not like it's a new thing either, Wharfie Time has existed for years.

The Hawks players would have been taken aback and startled a little by it, the crowd lifted massively when those bells started to toll.

I'm not a fan of the AFL attempting to monetize it but I think it's definitely something that gives us a mental edge.

Any travelling side that's up in a close game when Wharfie Time kicks in is going to shit bricks.

better than playing coldplay before games or having acdc on at three quarter time amongst whatever other cringe attempts at building a club identity that fremantle have previously attempted.
AC/DC has been fairly popular, the addition of Hell's Bells before kickoff has been a big upgrade.

Coldplay is the only real miss our match day entertainment has had. I think we're the best at it in the league for fan engagement.

I think it falls into the category of silly but harmless. I think it's kind of cringey but I'm not offended or upset by it.

A mate of mine once aptly described Coldplay as "Songs to kill yourself to".

Considering Freo's club history and regular Dockery performances, perhaps the person who chose to use Coldplay at Freo games was knows my mate.

I find it a bit cringe but I’m not surprised it’s such a hit with fans. Freo fans have always prided themselves on the club being different and a bit dorkier (lack of a better word) since their beginnings with all those colours and anchors etc.

The term you’re looking for is more dockery

I don't think it's really been understood by the wider footy community - because we've not exactly had many prime time games in the last few years and it's only been used a couple of times a year for the last 3-4 seasons when Freo are chasing down a lead in the last quarter with about 5-6 minutes to go. The response in the stadium is insane and the players have said it gives a huge lift to them at the next centre bounce.

Doesn't always work (last season's elimination final for example) and I would hate for it to be used regularly - but timed well like it was on Thursday and there's something magic about it.

Complete nuffy opinion but I think it won Freo the game.

Both sides looked spent at 3 quarter time. Both sides running on fumes in the last quarter and in the final 5 minutes or so Freo get an absolute lift and run us off our feet.

Melbourne used to/do Hells before the "bounce" (I haven't been to one of their games in a few years).

I liked wharfie time but I like that music so I'm happy to hear it wherever.
