But I also wanted to take a minute to thank all those behind the scenes that put it all together.
The last month has been absolutely chaotic on the administration side of things and our club's staff have outdone themselves!
The Membership Department:
who have been responsible for the reselling of the Gabba for 2 home finals and for ticketing organisation for the GF. They have just not stopped. On more than one occasion they have been lucky to catch a maximum of 2 hours sleep a night, and that was done by putting their heads on their desks and snoozing till the phones rang again. Their staff manning the phones, dealing with all types of fruitcakes as well as over zealous supporters and many a member who just simply doesn't read what is on the net, in the paper or the club magazine. Not an easy job and would try the patience of many a saint. Fantastic effort folks!
The Marketing Department:
Under the guidence of our 'new this year' marketing manager Jeremy Kann, they have worked tirelessly to provide supporter functions and marketing opportunites for our members, corporate members, and sponsors. To Jeremy, Christine, Jacqui R-S, Bec, Jacqui F, Khani, Nikki, Michael, Berni, Daniel, and anyone I might have missed - I send a huge THANKYOU for all your efforts. In the last week alone they have organised and supervised the Brownlow Dinner, the Grand Final Eve Ball, the Grand Final Breakfast, the Post GF Dinner at Colonial, the Brunswick St Celebrations, the Gabba Celebrations, the Chairmans Circle functions, the total rebranding of everything publicly seen for GF day for our major sponsor, the sales and seating arrangments of our GF packages and many many other things. I swear this department is superhuman!
To Accounts, Football Operations, Media and all other support staff - we do remember you are all there and have also been working tirelessly and we thank you all for your efforts.
To our Brisbane and Victorian based Cheersquads. Fantastic effort this year folks. The Banners have been outstanding, and the GF banner certainly took the cake and topped off a great season. A special mention to Adrian Zin (Vic c/squad member) for his colour photos of players on the GF banner, and to Col Bodie (Cartoonist) for his Simon Black Portrait. Members of both cheersquads were outstanding at both the GF Parade and the GF yesterday. They all understood and took to heart the fact that we are there to support our team. There is no need for them to slag off the opposition supporters or players to support our own team. You did the club proud.
And from me to all the Lions supporters out there - Woohoo, You are all LEGENDS! Been a fantastic year, welcoming more and more new members, becoming a bigger and bigger family of supporters and now again, forgetting our differences and celebrating our togetherness as we enjoy the sweetest victory of all.
