What a joke - Williams just gets a week!

The AFL is either serious about protecting the head, or it isn’t.

If they are then any player intentionally slamming another player’s head into the ground should get multiple weeks. To make it worse, both Cameron and Keays were defenceless at the time and the incidents occurred behind the play.

This is what they need to “make a statement” about. Instead we spend a week dragging an innocent player through the mud for a football accident. The focus is all wrong. Stamp this gutless **** out.
It's not even just protecting the head. It's non-football incidents.
What Williams did (I have no issue with the week - shouldn't have done it). The late hit from Fogarty on Weitering. Toby Greene's gut punch last week. Stewart's similar incident to Williams. Selwood with the punches to the face. "Clumsy" Mumford with the dropping of the knees. It goes on.
Any non-football act should be an automatic week as a starting point.

Oh, and Tex with the example above.
The angle and the pressure that would put on the neck is scary. That's not even momentum. That was a deliberate act.

EDIT: And Astbury's elbow to Plowman's jaw in round 1.

With that one, there is added risk of another player from behind running into him, or a Carlton player to try to drag Tex off and fall on the pile or whatever. Just dangerous and pointless.

Well spotted, Newnes is lucky he didn't injure his teammate by pushing Fog into him.

Yeah, that push caused Fogarty to extend his arms downwards and continue to push downwards instead of forwards. It was such a hard shove that after completing the pushing motion in Stocker, he was able to regain his balance and stand upright on his own.
