No way, Scott Thompson??

Fook off, we want a bloke that belittles and demeans us in the papers and fooking thinks after 11 games this year with the Dees that he is top ********??

Where is the balls of the fooking Club and MAKE A DECISION that WE WILL NOT TRADE FOOKING CLASS FOR MEDIOCRITY??

From a link to a web site which compares players AGAINST each other and overall..

http://finalsiren.com/PlayerCompare.asp?SeasonID=&SelectedPlayers=445,497,&Compare=Go

Stacks up pretty good IMO when averaged out

I dont know whether this will be a good or bad trade...NO-ONE does so lets wait and see..but to me the figures look ok.

That we gave in too easily and we should have gone for Thompson in a separate deal and use our position of strength to force melbourne into uncomfortable situation

Doesn't rate pick 28 and while he is a BIG Thompson fan he thinks Stinger was worth more than given. He wanted Waters or Butler and 1st round pick or Waters and Butler
Well hello there Stiffy!:)

Yeah, maybe I was A BIT over the top in the use of my 'colourful' language in this thread but Cornsey is right on the money.

We should have dealt with both Clubs separately in the Trades process to make sure we got the BEST DEAL POSSIBLE.

It was never about "raping" opposition Clubs; its about looking five years down the track and this is the year where we really need to reconstruct and rejuvinate the playing list.

I would have tried for Beau Watters and a second round draft pick, but they obviously to get thompson we may have had to give Melbourne both of the second round draft picks (adelaides and the one traded from west coast).

So, the crows didnt do too bad though

I think we all would have preferred to keep pick 12 and done another deal for Thompson. But - if you read between the lines - it's obvious that Port were ready to pounce on Thompson unless we offered the Dees our pick 12. Dees would have been very happy to trade with Port considering they would have had more in the way of players to offer.

Nice to hear that the Crows are still over there battling away for a couple more trades. Let's hope we get a nice surprise by COB Friday.

OK I know its far from being a reliable source BUT I found this bit interesting from Rucci's article on the Thompson deal

Win-win as Crows close in on swap

Now I am interested to know what deals are we trying to get done

He also said yesterday that a deal involving Butler and Waters was close? ;)

I think that was a Stenglein-related rumour and would now be off the table.

As for the Thompson deal - a 21 year old up and coming midfielder, plus a second round pick, for Stenglein? Sounds fair to me; I don't know what the rant is about.

As others have said, here's hoping we can trade in one or two more draft picks, that's what we need.

sucked in crows

u got what u deserve

thompson is a port boy at heart

he wont wanna stay at your club

I don't think any club got r*ped over the stinger , Thompson deal but being an AFC supporter I would have prefered to see pick 12 and Butler or Waters to Adelaide and our second round pick and a player such as Bode or Ladhams or Gags to Melbourne for Thompson.

But I guess WC and Melbourne did not want to touch their toes and learn about magic.

Remember one hand clapping and a tree falling in a forest ect. If we all ignore stupid posts then they are no longer a post.

When Stenglein first announced he was leaving there were some Crows fans on here saying he was only worth a second round pick. Some were saying he was worth a first round pick, but closer to pick 20 than pick 12. I said a couple of times that I would be more than pleased if we got WC's pick 12 and if they offered that I would take it and run. The fact that we managed to get WC's first and second round pick is some sort of coup in my book. As much as I hoped otherwise, until this week I never dreamed we would get that much for him. As I said, pick 12 alone would have been enough for me, and if you look back through the discussions, many others agreed.

So, anyway, at that point so far so good. I think the arguable decision was whether that pick 12 is then too much to pay for Thompson. I don't know enough about Thompson to give a totally informed opinion on that. But, consider that he was originally taken at pick 16 with no guarantees. Since then he has shown that he has got what it takes and the risk associated with a draftee is not there with Thompson. That increases his value (like it did with Stenglein).

Lets be honest. If Stenglein is worth pick 12 and 28 to West Coast, Thompson surely is worth more than just pick 28. That's very optimistic to think we could have got him for that. Melbourne would have to be stupid. So if pick 28's ruled out what else do we have to offer? Not much in my opinion. Unless you want to hand over Reilly or Johncock.

We had to request Waters and Butler but as they are contracted there really is only so much we can do. To expect us to come away with BOTH of these for Stenglein, or even just one of them is difficult while they are still contracted. Think about it, would we give away Johncock to Melbourne for Thompson. No way. WC would be the same with Waters and Butler.

That's what I like about your posts, ****. Well put.

Yep he sure does put it all into perspective :)

Myself i'm fairly satisfied in receiving the Eagles Picks 12 & 28 (maybe lower) for Tyson Stenglein.

Not too sure about Scott Thompson as a player as i haven't seen that much of him but if what most of yuse people are saying about him is on the mark then it looks like we have done well in trading him over to our club.

But we did mate. We were hassling West Coast for a couple of months now and they said no chance in hell. I am also led to beilieve that both Waters and Butler refused a trade which is fair enough. They are just settleing down in perth and they want to see out their contracts. I think thats understandable.

While, I would have liked to get a better deal, I am still happy with the deal we got. Honestly if someone told me couple of months ago that we woudl get Scott Thompson and pick 28 or inside 28 for Stenglein I would have been stoked :)
