I'll be honest, I was concerned at quarter time. I had that feeling before the game that Essendon were going to be on and alas, they were. However, what unfolded was some of the best footy I have seen in a long time, not just from the Pies, but also from the Bombers.

Focusing on us though, I was so proud of the way we fought back. We literally 'grabbed' the game from Essendon's hands in the second quarter and held on so tightly (defensively). This is where we won the game; through excellent implementation of our defensive offense (if that makes sense).

I bloody love our boys. I am super excited for our future.

I'll add more to the thread later when I get a chance!

GO PIES!!!!

The difference in mood between quarter time and half time was unbelievable. Pendles and Rusty owned that 2nd quarter. GREAT win.

Fantastic match, awesome comeback. Incredible victory! I was worried we'd drop our heads after the first quarter like we've seen so many times in recent years, but hell no. Our players dug in deep and won a hard fought win. I freaking love how we're unearthing quality youth out of nothing picks and rookie drafting. They all play hard footy and that's what you want to see.

My favourite moment was tooves sticking the tackle on carlisle - he could have flown off and he would have run into goal but he stuck it and held the team together.

The Toovey and Keeffe rundown chases were awe inspiring and really epitomised how hard our team worked for the win.

Exactly this (bolded). They only managed 19-20 more points after that flurry of 6 straight goals whilst we on the other hand, we amassed 66 points of our own. That to me speaks of how good we are playing from defense to attack. Yes, the first quarter was rough, however, we turned that around and it didn't hurt us in the end. It isn't easy to restrict a team to 20 points for a half of footy whilst at the same time score 60 points of your own.

Fantastic to see the boys dig in and go for it, last year we faded away too much. Good to see some heart out there and some respect for the jumper. Our young defenders really stood up today.

Was an absolute ripper of a win. Thought we were absolutely gone at quarter time and going be on the receiving end of a shellacking but then ...... who would of tipped such a massive 2nd quarter. Hardness, composure and a bit of mongrel has returned to the team in 2014.

Side by side, GO PIES!!!!!!! :p:p:p:thumbsu:

Our key backs form may now allow us to bring Reid back and swing up and down as the game plays - this could be huge structure wise I think we seem to be clicking to allow this to happen without costing us the other way finally
