I've just got home from the match at the Gabba, and I still feel stupefied by such a commanding performance by the Eagles.

Before the match I thought that the Lions would be favourites going into the game, but I thought that we were a good chance.

Well, it turned out that we had a great team effort and showed that even the Lions are vulnerable to injuries to the better players.

I was sitting together with the Victorian cheer squad members behind the goals where we were kicking in the second and last quarter. This means that when the ball is at the other end of the ground you can't see much. For this reason I will casting my votes tomorrow, after I see the replay in foxfooty at 9pm.

Isn't it good to see Wilson back in the side!!

I liked what I saw of Mcdougall too. I don't know how many possies he had but he probably didn't have much game time either. However he leads well and took a couple of good marks.

Goooo Eaglesss!!!!!

PS, I can hardly speak now after so much shouting at the ground.

Adkins was the fringe player who most impressed me. I hope he gets more chances. Also, who said Milli still isn't our best defender? God save us when he retires...

Lynch and Milli were having an enthralling battle before McIntosh went down with injury. I think Lynch kicked 3 on McIntosh before going off but every foray forward went in Lynch's direction so McIntosh was repelling more attacks than we was letting goals. A pity injury brought that battle to an end. Lynch was then too good for Glass and Jako was playing too well at CHF to bother bringing him back into defence.

Cousins, Judd and Fletcher were amazing. Gardiner controlled the ruck and was great around the ground. Sampi, Jones and Wilson were effective up forward. Embley was great again. Embers is now a star, no more "potential" he has arrived!

Jakovich at CHF was like a 20 year old kid! Doogs impressed, Wirrpunda and Banfield ruled the backline. Braun and Kerr worked hard.

I could go on and on!

We Rule! :D

EAGLES! (tap, tap, tap) EAGLES! (tap, tap, tap) EAGLES! (tap, tap, tap) EAGLES! (tap, tap, tap)

i was there at the gabba today for my solitary game this season (which is also i good thing i guess because we wouldn't want to travel to queensland too much), and i must say judds performance in the second quarter was one of the best ive seen in a long time, it was simply outstanding to stick it up brisbanes arses! if thats the way we turn up to play consistently, we will be a big chance come september time!

Dunno what to think of Glass today. He didn't seem to play that bad, provided some run out of defence but still had 4 goals kicked on him. Is that a combination of Lynch's strength, confidence and experience or just Glass' loose checking at some points.

I dunno, I still prefer Glass to Carroll though. When Milli retires (guessing at the end of this season) we'll need to find a new FB quick. I don't think Glass will be ever good enough to be the #1 tall backman but I can still see him taking on the 2nd or 3rd tall easily.

Anyway, great win by the boys. Pretty stoked about that win!

NO !!!

I was hoping for something special but he didn't impress me at all today. And that stupid over the head effort when he had two easy passing off options was worth a dragging IMO.

24 goals and only 3 by the forwards.

He had 6 scoring shots. Can't ask for much more.

Wilson should hold his spot next week on his performance today, it was satisfactory to warrant another week in the seniors.

He got those courtesy of great midfield ball to him (Lynch scored most of his goals courtesy of the midfield too). He created nothing himself or for his team mates. His great ability is to crunch the packs and put fear into the defence. He didn't do that today.

Would you have been happy with 0.6 ? Thats six scoring shots.

No, that would be an issue with his disposal, not his ability to mark the ball from the midfield. While it would show he has a shocking kick, it would at least prove that he has the ability to get the ball.

I expect him to get all his goals from the midfields perfect delivery.

Freo Hitman must be living in denial himself - his whole life is a denial.

A lucky win for the Eagles?

Gee I could say the same for the Freo win over the Kangas at Subi round 4 and argue the roos had a young side, didn't have a good day, blah , blah and blah.

But I won't.

Simply because:

- you can only beat the team the opposition puts towards you-
- an under-manned side does not equate to an automatic win, you have to fight for it - ala essendon, ala western bulldogs
- it is imperative you win a match regardless of opposition
- you would still bag us if we won or lost you idiot against the Lions, you'll bag us if we lost to an undermanned team, you would still bag us because we beat an undermanned team.

Make up your mind ******.

Your logic of argument easily backfires on your own team.

Heres a sample:
Freo vs Geelong
- Geelong is a young side
- Geelong had to travel
- bad night
- lucky win
- lucky to make the 8 last year

Freo vs Stk
- Stk is a young side
- Stk had to travel
- bad day
- Grant Thomas is a tool
- lucky win
- I mean come on, we're talking bout STK

Hey, most of us have congratulated you guys on your win.

And by the way, we have been younger than every side we've played this season. Even last night against Geelong, our average age was 22, theirs was 23, and our boys averaged 15 games less per player.

A bit late by me, but my congrats to the team. I listened to the match on the radio and i was very impressed, considering North play WC next round. To think North COULD HAVE been playing an Eagles team vulnerable from recovering from a loss on the other side of the country. How wrong i was...

Congratulations on the win, watched the whole lot on TV, great game. Grim prospect for the Roos next week against you, starting to worry about our chances :(

Anyway, congratulations again, hope to see the Eagles do well in the Finals this year.
