What an interesting season it has been this year.

In no particular order
----------------------
*Essendon going through a whole Home and Away season with only 1 loss.

*Essendon on top of the ladder for the whole season

*St. Kilda taking half a season to win a game

*Carlton having 13 wins in a row but still finishing second

*Indoor footy (at Colonial)

*Colonials Ground Problems

*Matthew Lloyd becomes the first Bomber since J. Coleman to kick 100 goals in a season.

*One of the worst games of footy ever as far as skills were concerned. Port Adelaide v St. Kilda

*St. Kilda not having won a game were FAVOURITES aginst Port Adelaide

*B. McDonald having to carry the entire ruck division for Brisbane and coming second in hit outs in his first full year

*S. Woewodin winning the Brownlow (no one would have predicted that at the start of the season)

*Collingwood winning the first 5 games of the season then losing the next 8 (or something like that)

*Essendon beating reigning premiers by a record margin in a final (125 points)

*Preliminary finals were a blow out (50pts and 45pts)

*Brisbane's Win-Loss-Win-Loss week in week out for quite a while

*Cricket at Colonial. Footy at MCG (Roles reversed)

*J. Leppistch becomes only 3rd person ever to have tribunal decision changed

*A. Heuskes walks out on Brisbane after having an awesome season last year

*Brisbane has 3 people who have kicked 50+ goals in a season

And the year hasn't even finished
What more surprises will the Grand Final hold...

Any more interesting facts?

Golions, eventhough i'm a Pies supporter and I am going to hate saying this, BUT Collingwood lost their next 9 games and not 8.

*CJ leaves the room to shot himself after admitting that!*

This has been one of the least enjoyable seasons, for me.

The Kangaroos have struggled from one dilemma to the next, and everytime it looked like we might be back on track, whamo something would come from behind and bite us on the arse.

The BAD...

Lose Night Grandfinal
Family Day - Pike turns up late and Suspended
Ryan Pagan.
Straight kicking of WCE and Melbourne in first two rounds.
Martyn Suspended, Carey Booked and Sholl.
Stevo cut by glass, nearly dead - misses 13 weeks.
Martyn Suspended again.
The Passing of Ron Casey
Should be comfortable victories turn to narrow wins - Geelong - St Kilda - Brisbane - Melbourne.
Should be wins turn into losses - WCE - Hawthorn - Bulldogs - Sydney - Collingwood.
Colbert never made it on the Park, until it was too late.
Winnie and Crown Casino.
Pike telling training staff to get stuffed.
Martyn Injured.
Archer Injured.
Carey Injured.
Corey Injured after 8 goals agaist Geelong.
Form of McKernan - Grant - Winnie
49 - 0.
125 pt thrashing by Dons in final.
Never really good enough in 2000...

The GOOD...

The overall form of - Jason McCartney - Peter Bell - Wayne Carey - Brent Harvey - Spider Burton.
All-Australian Captain - Wayne Carey
Best Victories - Geelong - Richmond - WCE - Freo 2nd half.
Drawing a line in the sand - Hawthorn Final, when back firmly against the wall
Progression of young players - Troy Makepeace - Adam Lange - Stuart Cochrane - Shannon Motlop.

Outcome...

We still managed a respectable 4th on the ladder.
With a little bit of luck next year - you never know.

BUT WE WILL BE BACK... BEWARE OF AN ANGRY KANGAROO..

Yes an amazing season - for some people

For the Swans its been a very frustrating time as we stood by and watched the Red&Whites throw away winnable game after winnable game, mainly through stupid lapses in concentration at critical times.

You know the sort of stuff I mean

- an easy shot at goal missed at a critical time
- a stupid free kick given away
- a handball that dosn't find its target
- a player slips over

that kind of stuff has really cost us dearly this season.

Some highs

- Paul Kelly makes an unexpected and dramatic come back
- Robbie Ahmat kicks the goal of the season
- We run the Bombers as close as anyone in Round 14
- We thrash the Kangaroos in Round 20
- Young players Bolton, Fosdike, Crouch, Bennett, Fixter, Doyle and Fitzgerald are coming on nicely
- Michael O'Loughlin gets some Brownlow votes (finally)
- Roos and Lockett on the coaching panel has worked out nicely

Low points

- We miss the finals for the first time since 1995
- We lose games in Round 4-7 all at home, all by less than two goals
- We lose to Fremantle in Round 15 (we really didn't need that one)
- Craig O'Brien leaves the club after falling out with Rodney Eade
- Our crowds go south (a little)
- The two Rugby codes have good seasons.
- Thrashed at Football Park again
- Losing Jason Ball after he was BOG against WCE in Round 2
- The Kangarros continue with their 'invasion'
- Dale Lewis resigns with the Swans for 2001

I'm glad its over - bring on 2001 !

One incident of note: A Rocca cleaning up a teammate after T Croad dodged him. It was 2 Magpies to 1 Hawk with an open Magpie Goal beckoning. Croady raced off with the ball and after a few steps kicked it to ... A Collingwood player (but in their defensive half)

Also from that night. Collingwood 'fans' openly slagging off their team on the Colonial PA

Well said Drakey!

THE WORST FOOTBALL SEASON I HAVE LIVED THROUGH.

And yes, I have lived through some bad years in the past 20 years.

I can't wait until Monday when a new era of the St Kilda Football Club begins.

I hope!

I reckon that it was a real boring and predictable season myself. Thank God it will end early.

Boring, may not be the right word - especially as a Geelong supporter! IE:

Rnd 3 - Geelong def Adelaide by 11pts
Rnd 4 - North def Geelong by 5pts
Rnd 7 - Geelong def Sydney by 9pts
Rnd 10- Geelong and Port Draw
Rnd 12- Geelong def Collingwood by 4pts
Rnd 13- Geelong def Bulldogs by 7pts
Rnd 14- Carlton def Geelong by 10pts
Rnd 16- Geelong def Fremantle by 6pts
Rnd 18- Geelong def Adelaide by 7pts
Rnd 22- Geelong def Sydney by 4pts
Elim F- Hawthorn def Geelong by 9pts

Thats 11 games out of 23 decided by less than 12 points - 7 wins 3 losses and 1 draw.

To me, Melbourne are the big shock of the season, after all, I picked them to finish last!

My highlight of the year would be The 2 victories over Adelaide - especially the first one over Ayres when we had never won at Football Park against Adelaide before, and the win against Sydney in round 22 which guaranteed that we would be in the finals.

Another highlight would be Mark Thompson, he is a genious and IS the one who will lead Geelong to a Premiership in the next few years. The fact that he played 8 first year players (and he wasn't forced into doing so by injury) showed that he is looking to the future with hope and optimism, and he was still good enough to get us into the finals.

WELL DONE BOMBER!!!!!

My lowlight of the year (Not all that hard to work out) was that disgracful performance against StKilda - Sorry Sainter - But that was an absolute shocker, even worse than getting beaten by 70 points at home against Brisbane.
