Dimma thinks (and I probably agree) that the height of their forwards was an issue. Is one more tall defender needed?

Do we need someone else in the middle? I really thought Cotch and Dusty would have more teeth, but the midfield got overrun for long stretches. Who's the kind of player who could've stopped that? Or is it just a numbers thing? We have several players who I think can defend, crumb, and pass well enough. Do we just need more of them on the field at one time, or do some players need to go to make space for someone more tactically relevant to the team?

Richmond needs a lot right now:

- speedy outside mid
- small forward

We'd probably need to replace a player from each position with another player that has better skills. Good news is that not all of those replacements need to come from the outside. I want to see the majority of McBean, Castagna, Short, CEllis, Menadue and Drummond become a part of our best 22 to iron out any glaring issues.

What Richmond really need to trade in though is a good ruckman, a solid tall defender and an elite inside mid. We got smashed in the middle yesterday, and some of our tall defenders are just not up to it. Also, We get smashed in the ruck a lot, so we need to improve in that department too

Definitely need another inside mid. We need a mid with a bit of size.

We really need to hope some of our more recent draftees become success stories. You have to improve every year and I'm not sure if I see enough improvement in the current team to take that next step.

Yep I think the need to replace Chaplin is high on the fans list. Not too sure the Club feels the same way which is scary.

The club should put it to Elton and Astbury over summer that there is a KPD spot in the 22 available.

I'd only be up for trading Griff if we got something good that filled our needs. No point giving him away or no point getting a 2nd round pick in a weak draft for him.

I'm sure the Bombers will offer their 3rd rounder and say that they're paying overs.

We needed another KPD yesterday. We have two on the list that didn't play. Personally Astbury should have come in not Griff. Or try Griff on Waite.

Our big need though is inside mid - fit Conca and CEllis could fix that. But most of all we need leadership and smarts. Not in evidence yesterday.

Hopefully Astbury gets his knees right. How quickly we forget how good he was last year when Rance was out injured. I'd like to see Astbury replace Chaplin. That should be priority #1. I also think that we look at Carlisle.

Griffiths needs to be traded. Don't care where, to who and what for. He is a spud. Target a ruckman not getting a game such as Hannath from Freo. Speculative ruckman as Kruizer is not the answer.

We need another inside mid and out side mid. Outside mids - Bennell and / or Yarran. Maybe look at Hall. Selwood as an inside mid ?

I would definitely ask Dangerfield what his asking price is. He is worth more that whatever Cotchin and Lids are getting paid simply because he has a track record of finding another gear in finals. something NONE of our players have. If any players have a whinge about payments, just give them a copy of the three failed Elimination finals..

We need a big body inside the contest and Maric isn't good enough against the elite ruckmen.
Those two positions along with a small forward would be priorities.

Chaplin is as bad in a one on one contest as any key defender I've seen but they rate him so I can't see any move being made there

For me the planning for he ruck is crucial - no sub means how many talls / ruckmen teams take into games will change and also how they are used. Need to make sure we have a plan and also right personnel - Ivan will only get worse, hammer has another year on contract - soldo is years away and Vickery , McBean and Griff are forwards there for an occasional chop out- think we need to look at getting one in via trade

When we lose its, generally we are also destroyed in the ruck and in tight- have to fix the ruckman as well as he inside mid

So first thing on my list is ruckman. There are some high profile ones on the radar. Doesn't have to be one of them though. But Ivan needs help and Hampson isn't really good enough.

All the other weaknesses aren't show stoppers, especially given that basically all our onballers will be better next year.

If we're going to get a ruckman it should be an upgrade to replace Maric, not someone who can just help out. We've tried two ruckmen and it doesn't work. Remember Hampson & Maric vs Jacobs? Vickery + an elite ruckman would be perfect.

Agree with Menadue and Lennon. Lennon should be pretty much ready next year. Should have played yesterday.

Menadue is still most likely a year or 2 away from having an AFL body. Was very impressive this year. Exceeded expectations considering he was 69kg at the draft.

For me the number one need is an Olie Wines/Josh Kennedy jnr inside mid type. North were just too big and strong in the contest yesterday. Ellis is going to be good but I don't think he will fill this role.

A ruckman is also a massive need.

Maric has just slowed up this year. God, he is still epic, but he can't do it all at his age. And yesterday he was against the best going around in Goldstein.

We should go all out for an elite ruckman, it's our biggest deficiency and I think Maric is almost done. We need it with our midfield. We lost yesterday in the centre and at stoppages.

They should offer Maric a playing assistant coach role, developing the younger guys, and play him as depth. He's not the worst as a stop and prop deep forward either, btw.
