He's got a really rich tone, extremely full and powerful. And yeah not pitch corrected at all. They strike me as the type of band that would hate pitch correction and would boycott it.
And I totally get the Brand New comments... I hated them for two years then it suddenly hit me and I loved them. It happens with a few bands actually, Karnivool was one because of the rhythms, Dashboard Confessional another because of his vox.

Ah Tiffany Alvord, she's absolutely gorgeous. I assume you know her channel :p One of my favourites of hers is This Is Just The Start:
There's a whole group of youtube musicians, Chester See, Kurt Hugo Schneider, Tyler Ward and all those guys that are pretty damn good, they get annoying because they all cover the same songs though.

Oh I don't tell them that they've got too much make up on unless I'm close to them :p But they still slap me... Girls don't want honesty even if they say they do, they want to be told what they want to hear ;)
The greatest example of that I can think of is Damien Rice. Beautiful, emotional singer, and the girl is amazing as well.

The obvious ones are guys like Passenger, The Lumineers, Bon Iver, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes. I don't really know that much though, I've heard good things about The Mountain Goats that are apparently like them, but I don't know them at all. Also a band called Hudson Taylor.

I really need to watch Eurovision. The only thing I've ever seen from it was the Epic Sax Guy, and that performance... I don't know whether it's great or not, but it's stupidly ridiculour :p

I liked the little Diamonds reference in the Bastille one, and it reminded me of No Scrubs, I haven't heard that in forever! And as for Nina I definitely would. Definitely. 100x definitely.

As I would for this girl, Lindsey Stirling, Absolutely amazing violinist.
They've used it a little bit but nowhere near to the extent that some bands do now. His voice is just obscenely good. Really haunting when he goes down into those lower registers and sings quietly, too. It's one of those very rare voices that has the ability to be both powerful and haunting. Jared Leto's another that can really pump you up and feel strong, but also really break you down and make you feel vulnerable. On that note, have you heard any of 30STM's newer stuff? It took me a while to get into this one but I love it now.

Never heard of Karnivool but I do enjoy Dashboard.

Yeah, she's stunning, haha. I'm actually not a massive fan of her songs or her voice (or her overuse of pitch correction) but I watch her videos for her anyway. ;)
Yeah, I know all those guys. Tyler Ward in particular is brilliant. He's the vocalist in one of the semi-screamo songs I posted a little while ago, haha.

It's not really my kind of music, but I can definitely appreciate his voice. Superb.

I know Passenger, he's incredible. Does some awesome duets with Ed Sheeran too because they're pretty close friends.

I think I've heard of Bon Iver before and didn't like them. Never heard of the others though, I'll have to look them up at some stage. I enjoyed those two Hudson Taylor songs though. Cool country sort of twang without being overbearing like some of those tones are.

Absolutely watch Eurovision next year; it's good for a laugh. Eurovision drinking game is bloody good fun too, even though I don't drink, hahaha.

Ah yes, I know Lindsey. First saw her in this video:

One of the best covers of that song imo but nothing beats the original.

More live Bastille, just cos. :)

Leto's is probably the most extreme voice I know. He can go from a whisper to practically a shout in the same song. I was amazed reading he was an actor who became a musician, because usually those guys are the worst :p I downloaded the new 30STM album but haven't really listened to it, I've been meaning to, but I love that song you posted. Moving in a bit more of an electronic direction, which is cool, I prefer their old stuff though. Although I hate the line "I'll wrap my hands around your neck so tight with love", it just sounds so cheesy and stupid! I remember loving End of All Days though

Karnivool is Aussie prog rock at it's finest! I really can't think of another band to compare them to, you just have to listen to it. They're kind of a love them or hate them band from my experience.

The problem with a lot of those youtube musicians though is that a lot of them are extremely samey, and most of them have just moved in the same pop sort of direction which is a bit disappointing, because some of them are just so damn talented!

That Passenger/Sheeran mashup is one of my favourites, it works perfectly and their voices complement each other so well, also love Ed's little "say what?" :p

I'm not really a fan of Bon Iver either, he did the original Skinny Love if you've heard it before? Birdy's is a LOT better though. Hudson Taylor used to be just the two singers and two acoustic guitars, they recently added the rest of the band though with some strings and stuff, as you do :p But I've loved them for a while.

Planning to go to a Eurovision party, because everyone always says how they're throwing a Eurovision party. I'm sure it's going to be very interesting :p

You seriously have an obsession with Bastille. Like over the top obsession. The kind of obsession where if they come out to Australia again you'll be waiting outside their hotel room o_O

And now for something completely different. I know I'm late to finding this, but it's so ****ing catchy that I don't even care :p

That last one was totes funny...

I kinda remember listening to it in high school, but I just found it again yesterday, it's amazing. It's funny but you won't be able to get it out of your head :D

Funny reading this thread for the first time and seeing Of Monsters and Men mentioned a lot because it was their song Little Talks that shook up my listening habits earlier this year.
I happen to live 100 metres from where the Laneway Festival is held in Sydney, but at the time I didn't know what was going on.
Well, I was standing on my back step listening (it was quite loud) when 20,000 people started shouting "hey" in the chorus to what I discovered - thanks to Google - was Little Talks. It was awesome.
I'd previously listened mainly to blues but now the world of indie music opened up.
Snakadaktal played Laneway this year. I found they're just one of a few terrific bands from Melbourne. City Calm Down is another.
Divine Fits were on too. I love their song Chained to Love. And MS MR. Their song Fantasy is on my current list of favourites on Spotify.
I'm a bit of a late developer, so Empire of the Sun is number one at the moment. Lana del Rey was for a while. The song in my head at the moment is So Much to Give by YesYou.
Nice to have a break from the endless speculation about our pick 4!
