What can we expect from the new Shorten government

Given the election results seem a fait accompli, attention should focus on what the incoming government will deliver.

Minor tweaks to the current set.up or significant change?
A premature thread especially considering that Shorten is capable of losing the unloseable election!

Are you suggesting he is going to allow more tax avoiding corporations in and give them tax cuts

Bill will reinstate open borders nothing surer but thankfully it will take time to reach the heady heights it did under Ruddlard. Its why the nation owes a vote of thanks to Tony Abbott without which we'd be dealing with 50,000, 100,000 or more freeloaders every year just as a starting point.
Only problem with your argument is that illegal arrivals have increased under Morrison and now Dutton. It’s just that they’re not poor refugees coming by boat, they’re economic migrants coming by plane and staying illegally. But never let facts spoil your narrative.

Theoretically yes, but he'd have to break new ground to do so.

Basically, the LNP cannot win this election unless Shorten commits a serious faux pas (unlikely given his personality) or Morrison combines prime Keating/Howard in the lead up.

When people arrive by plane we know who they are so we can easily assess their eligibility for refugee status.

Strangely the people arriving by boat preferred to toss their passports into the sea. Almost as if they wanted to hide their real identity in an attempt to get false refugee status.

and yet they were more likely to be found to be real refugees than the ones coming under the Libs by Plane

The Labor government gave up on properly assessing the refugee applications because the number of boat arrivals were out of control. Rudd acknowledged this before the 2013 election and endorsed the successful Libs policy.

It's not clear from Shorten, Plibersek and Albanese what the ALP policy is that they will take to the election.

No brainer- Very little will change, just some tinkering around the edges, more of the same, 2 sides of the same coin, hope and change is a myth, we have the illusion of choice.

The major parties do the bidding of the bankers/IMF/industrial military complex/big business etc. the politicians eventually get to where their masters want them to go to just at varying paces and methods.

No, it's much more complicated than that. Not sure where you're getting your information from.

Have you any data to back up that frequently cited, but never verified claim?

It’s pretty clear. Same as the Libs.

Great news!!!

In the past two years, I have had two friends who worked for companies that either went into liquidation and or bankrupt. Both were salary sacrificing into super. Lost thousands because they weren't paying into fund although their payment slips stated otherwise. Sure they should have checked but how many do?

Labor will change the laws to include a right to superannuation within the national employment standards, which will give all employees the power to pursue their unpaid superannuation.

Currently unpaid or underpaid employer superannuation contributions are a debt owed to the Australian Taxation Office, rather than the worker. Unless there is a clause in their award or agreement, workers can’t chase this money – as the money is not technically owed to them.

Same thing happened to my brother he lost 10 g in Super

No mention of NBN at the conference.
I hope sorting that sabotaged mess out is part of the future plans

I expect the ALP will win easily, I see Shorten as being similar to Dan Andrews, solid middle of the road type that implements its policies with some frustration in the senate but still able to pass some of its policies, beyond that I expect many on the left will start sulking that it isn't left wing enough and the Liberals will rediscover debt and deficit budget emergencies.
