The subject says enough I suppose. The car that I drive is a 1990 Holden Statesman (5 litre V8). I bought the car pretty cheap bout 7 years ago for $15k ;) Since then I've put a new cold air intake and chip, and 17" wheels on it. I'm not a rev head (well a little bit anyway!!) I haven't really had any other cars, but I'd be interested to hear what other people drive to give me an idea if I was to get another. If anyone has a car like mine I'd also be interested to hear from you as to what you've done to the car since you've had it.

Motor on...........

Had 13 cars so far. Don't go far now and have a 1980 Peugeot 604. I would imagine the majority here have never seen or heard of one. They're built like a tank so if you run into me don't expect to drive away.

I've owned various piles of junk (and a couple of good cars) over the years

Rated out of Five :

1964 EH Holden **
1968 HK Holden ***
1958 Morris 1000 ****
1961 EK Holden*
1964 Ford Escort *
1969 VE Valiant **
1977 Fiat 127 ****
1966 Humber Vogue*
1976 Toyota Corona ***
1965 Hillman Minx ***
1993 Daihatsu Charade ***
1982 XE Ford Falcon GL (Gas) ***
1964 Humber Super Snipe *****

Easily the most impressive car I ever owned was the Humber Snipe, more like a ship on wheels than a car, and just as comfy and powerful as an Ocean Liner as well !

Unfortunately it cost about as much to keeep moving as well, so it has semi-retired to the Blue Mountains and a more mechanircally skillfull owner. Still, after 40 years, the old girl is still going strong and still turnin heads

And so now my latest beast is a little 1992 Mazda 121 Bubble Car. Its only the Honeymoon period so far but its proving to be a
pretty classy little car actually

cheers and happy motoring

I drive a 1998 EL Falcon family wagon courtesy of the company.

Very white, very boring, very tailhappy in the wet with nothing in the rear

Also own a very clean VL Commodore which is currently at my parents place doing nothing :(

Deciding whether to spend money on it to go fast,:D
or sell it to fund overseas trip

at $1000 per year insurance and rego I will need to make my mind up quickly:mad:

Current Car - 1997 Subaru Liberty Wagon (AWD gives it some driving pleasure)

Best Car Owned - 1969 Datsun 1600. I stuck a worked 2.2L motor under the bonnet and added lots of other go fast bits to the car. A joy to drive and the twin sidedraft webers made for a rather loud but great sounding car.

My Mum used to have a standard automatic 1600

very impressive little car actually - went like the clappers (yes even automatics go hard), used bugger all fuel and never broke down.

cheers

Just bought myself a brand new Mitsubishi Lancer, complete with 'Extreme' bodykit, 16 inch mags, sports exhaust and paint protection plus much more.

Haven't picked it up yet as I am waiting on my loan to come through and to sell my current car, a real chicks car it is, a 1992 Holden Barina. But it has given me good service for the 2 1/2 years I've had it.

Got a new Lancer last year 2001 model, nice car!

Got some pics, but not sure if they will work:

Nope, they didn't!

Anyway, like Catman, Extreme body kit and stuff...got the exhaust done, and also 15 inch mags....but I want to get maybe 17inch in the near future.

Is your's a 1.5 or 1.8 Catman?

Re the Snipe. I learned to drive in a 1952 - about eleventeen tons of british best.

The rest I've had.

1939 Hillman
1954 Vauxhall Velox
1960 Vauxhall Cresta
1957 FE Holden
1968 Peugeot 404
1970 Peugeot 504 FI
HQ Holden
1970 XJ6 Jaguar
1974 XJ12 Jag
1985 Nissan Navara
1982 Statesman Caprice
1992 Peugeot 405MI16
1992 Subaru Liberty Wagon
1980 Peugeot 604

Did you manage to offload the V12 before it completely bankrupted you ?

The old Snipes were well, just HUGE weren't they ?

Best fellow Humber guy I have met in Sydney drives a genuine 1954 Royal Tour job - still has the Crown on the roof and the Royal Standard on mudguard mounted flagpole !

Apparently the British Government brought out 50 or so for the Tour then left them to the Australian Gov't afterwards - Plenty still survive and they are highly sought after by collectors

cheers

Well, this is my car..hope it works this time!

1.8. I wanted a little bit of grunt, compared to what I have now!

Thanks Catman. Got it from Heidelberg Mitsubishi.

Yeah, the 1.8 goes quite nicely. If only they were AWD.

I bought mine from Northern Mitsubishi in Preston. A fair drive from down here in Geelong, but worth it.

Can't wait until I pick it up.
