CC until 2012 -.

It was not through CC initiative that Pav is up forward but because supporters, commentators and jounalists were suggesting this for some time.
Pav was born to play up forward.
A touch of realism to the Topic!

More likely a touch of negativism from Jarman!

I was wondering when we'd hear his latest pearls of criticism. Havent heard a word of positive comment since we have been winning. His mate Tico cant be far behind.

I just reckon we are doing better (we are not in brilliant form!!!) because more of the players have extracted the digit. You can blame the coaches all the time, but they are not on the field.

Well Freo Shark - we have beaten Carlton (16th), Doggies (12th), Melbourne (9th) and Pies (14th) so I guess we should be jumping up and down that we are the best thing going in footy.

We have the cattle to be top 4 instead of sitting in 8th position and again battling to stay alive for finals footy. I am sick and tired of mediority and failure. Above all I have no time for CC. He is not a good football coach and will never take Freo to a GF. Many past footballers that I have spoken too on this issue agree.

CC further showed his lack of coaching ability, when he admitted that last year he instructed Larcom to only focus on the fitnness and well being of the top 10 footballers and this caused a lot of internal problems at the club. How stupid and hence failure in 2004.

2005 is not over yet and there is still a chance that CC and Freo can be a failure in 2005.

So tell me you must be hoping we lose this weekend - you wouldnt want anything positive to come out of it ?

Cant you be happy Freo are winning or must you continue your crusade against Freo and CC.

Do you actually support Freo or are you a imposter ?

Very happy to be able to watch Pav develop. Get experience, develop huge stamina in the midefield, then as he matures move up forward where he is dominating.

I wonder if things like his development are why we hear about 3 or 4 year plans. I know in my work it is why we do them.

Each time CC has changed Pav's role it has improved him as a player, and each time it has put him where we have needed him most at the time.

No, I do not like to see Freo loose but do not also accept that we are a top 8 team. I would just like to see CC out and a coach in place that will take us to a GF. Regardless of win or loose on the weekend or if even we were wooden spooners, CC will still be there in 2006. More failure and going nowhere.

I am very much a freo supporter from day I and will be until I die. I just have had a gut full of the continual failure when we should do better. One GF and I will be happy.

Jarman,At the time of beating the Bulldogs they were ahead of us on the ladder,we jumped over them when we won. When we played and beat Melbourne they were in the four and well and truely entrenched at the time.
The pies you must remember BEAT the WC at the MCG earlier in the year. There are 16 teams in the competition and you can only beat who you have to play.I would like to have seen us win more games as well but I think more soul destroying to me were the games we SHOULD have won yet lost, not so much the games we have won and who they were against.
Jars it is your opinion that CC is not a good coach there are many others who think he is.It is a matter of opinion.
Your negativity is only out done by your stupid and inane comments. If you don't like the way things are going go elsewhere.Go be a front runner and support the mob up the road.

When I cough up my money year in and year out, I am entitled to my opinion.
I have never rated him and he has under achieved with this squad. The first semi in 2003 showed him up and 2004 was not much better.

You are entiltled to your opinion and although I do not agree with yours I am not going to say that they are stupid and insane. Keep believing that CC is this super coach but he will never take Freo to a GF. We are again struggling to make the 8 this year.

He has mismanaged the team.

It's kind of embarrassing to hear George Mouthelvich trying to justify his vendetta against CC on PeeeeeAgh. A bit of humility. A little "Gee, I got that wrong didn't I." A little, "Maybe I should support what the team has done and recognise that like all teams they will struggle when they have injuries." A little insight along the lines of "Hey, the team has undergone major restructure this year. I can't even recognise the forward line. Once they get used to each toher it's gonna be awesome."

The other thing that would be good is some recognition of how much of a setback changing coaches would be, and that you'd CC is easily the best coach we have ever had, and the best available when he was selcted as well as right now.

Here's an interesting article in the Herald Sun where they interview CC.

http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/common/story_page/0,8033,16230219%5E20118,00.html

Some interesting points that stood out for me (plus many more that are more relevant to this thread):

McPharlin and Pavlich can develop into the best one-two attack in the competition. You must be so excited to see what they can do.

And the other one you're missing is Aaron Sandilands and Justin Longmuir changing out of the pocket.

Who is your best back six?

Parker, Haddrill, Hayden, then I'd go Walker, Thornton, Mundy.

Would you trade Graham Polak?

My position with trading and you can burn me on this one, but I say to the players everyone's tradeable because that takes all the nonsense out of it.

How Chris Connolly dodged heave-ho
12 August 2005 Herald Sun
Mark Robinson goes head-to-head with Dockers coach Chris Connolly.

<There were a few guys here in the office watching a Fremantle game. You were four goals down in the second quarter and the comment was made: "If he loses he might be sacked tonight."

That's nothing to what some people say around here.

Like what?

Talk to people in Perth. I will give you one example. One of the top radio commentators midway through last year wanted me sacked and we were fifth on the ladder.>

Ah yes, he's all clASS Georgie boy. Why doesn't George resign. He is a disgrace. There were a few guys here in the office watching a Fremantle game. You were four goals down in the second quarter and the comment was made: "If he loses he might be sacked tonight."

i totally agree with you and we can only form an opinion from the results of his coaching.Unfortunatly there are people here who have there heads in the ground and want to make personal attacks on supporters who do not agree with there view.My view is that cc will never take any team to a flag and he is wasting my teams time.Call me stupid or insane as well but mark my words cc will end up being sacked and the sooner the better

That was a shocking effort on Friday from the players and the coaching staff, and CC bears the brunt as the buck does stop with him (I am a CC supporter). There are no excuses; we were wipped.

What I don't get from the get rid of CC crowd is who they think the options are. generally the argument runs along these kind of lines;

Option 1; The experienced Super Coach; We have such a fabulous list that Mathews, Parkin, Malthouse, Sheedy will shift from their current existance to come here and coach the team. The flaws in this argument are enourmous. For a start they are all struggling where they are, extremely well paid, and happy where they are living. It is a bloody huge thing up and move when you are in your fifties, and unless the fire is burning, or the pay cheque rediculous (as St Kilda found out) I can't see it happening.

Option 2; There are lots of good assistants who can do as good/better job than CC. And there may be. But by definition untried coaches are unproven and need to go through their own learning curves. CC and Drum were both excellent assistants. Thank goodness we have CC. How are Hawthorn going? Adelaide are doing well. In total appointing an ex-assistant is a lottery. Win some; lose some.

My biggest reason for my faith in CC is that I can see why the team has not performed as well as they can; injuries. Also, I believe that CC is improving as a Caoch, and he is the best person to get them to do well next year, which according to his "plan" is when we should be vying for a flag.

I was always taught that positive critisism was the way to go. If you don't like something, offer alternatives.

For my 2 cents, I reckon the players have got away with murder this year. Instead of alot of blame being apportioned to their lacklustre performances being placed on their shoulders, alot of the blame has been thrown at CC. Not saying CC hasn't made alot of errors, but the players need to pull their own pants up.

What actually amazes me about footy today is that not all players attend training. If I was in charge, all players must attend scheduled training and then they would be split into groups. Injured - do work with physio, weights, swim laps etc. Bruised - swim, run laps, weights etc. Fit - undertake full training. In essence the players train as a team.

Cut the crap. There's two games left in the season, both are winnable if Freo actually turn up to play.

First of all, let's get rid of this Friday night "bogey" crap. It's just a bunch of hooey. Each time we got sucked into the occassion and played a wet weather scrappy style of football like most teams do when they get sucked into the occassion. We need to focus on the footy and the game plans.

St.Kilda. They've got 3 key defenders out (Penny, Hudghton & Fisher), Gherig is battling a thumb injury. It's at Subi. Not matter how bad our defence is (and lets not delude ourselves, Our defence is pretty dodgey, mainly because of the youngsters and the key lack of a key position defender) it should be able to hold Gherig, Milne, Riewoldt and Koschitzke if our midfield can win a bit of contested footy and help out the defence. McPharlin, Pavlich and Farmer should be able to stretch their defence with Medhurst given an opportunity to play a good game.

Two problems that we must, and I repeat MUST overcome on Friday night:

1) Not getting sucked in by the hype of a Friday night game, it's pathetic how we play when we get sucked in instead of focusing on the game and the plan
2) Midfield HAS to stand up, find the footy, hold their defence and actually get some godam contested footy. It was problem our main problem in the derby. Our midfielders were too afraid to get the ball and too afraid to lay some hits. Grow some balls boys!

Then it's Port's turn. Port, no matter what Porthos, PPWA, PAFC2004 or all the other Port trolls say they are beatable and we can beat them. Infact I'll go as far as saying we should beat them. Tredrae vs Pavlich, Pavlich on his current form but Tredrae should be able to beat whoever we put on him. Our midfield and Ruck is better than theirs but the fact that we've lacked that fire and we get intimidated away from home that we tend to choke.

And what's with Connolly saying he's not focusing on finals and the 'F' word. That's a load of crap. Every team HAS to be aiming towards winning a premiership each year. And if they can't get a premiership at least be trying to make finals to keep that hope alive.

The Fact of the matter is we need to play like we did against St.Kilda last season in Round 22 when it was our season on the line. Though we lost we played a league or two above what we were playing the whole season. A finals like style of game. Our season IS on the line. Should our guys fail we'll be ridiculed like you won't believe. We need to play like our lives depended on it.

If we lose tomorrow and play in a similar fashion as last week CC will be back in the gun and rightly so. We have the players to match it with any team, any where but when we come up against quality opposition in big games we usually fail. Friday night is a must win for many different reasons.

It's become a situation if we lose Friday night, we're screwed. Even if we win Friday night we will more than likely still need to beat Port over in Port to make it into the finals.

We must win against St.Kilda on Friday, otherwise we're gone!

A very winnable game as the Saints do not travel well and are suspect under pressure. A lot of thier players are inconsistent and they rely on the same three or four players every week. Also their backline will struggle against Pav & McPharlin. With Cowley, Peake and Schofield, Freo should have too much pace.

I have picked Freo to win by 42 points.

Collo21 - we were gone for all money a few weeks ago. Everyone howling for CCs blood. Look at where we are today, in the top 8 and one more win we are secure for finals action.

We have got players back on the park, the team is growing in confidence and both St Kilda and Port are very beatable. They beat us last year is history and all that counts is the next game.

I am confident that we will be there at finals time and put on a good show. Mate, one is never beaten until the final whistle and the final whistle has not been blown yet. "It ain't over until its over"
