When you're dealing with top 5 picks, you take the very best available.

We dunno who the Club thinks it is yet, but I'd be pretty confident that the first pick will be a midfielder, as Ellis and Hurn have massive wraps on them.

If the Murphy selection is now set, I naturally hope we take one of Ellis or Hurn with pick 2, then we can sit back and see what Hawthorn and Carlton do.

What I would genuinely hate to see is us pick a Varcoe over a Ryder of Kennedy, just because some order is coming through to draft fast midfielders. Granted, we might rate Varcoe higher than the talls, but so long as we are drafting the most likely player to become an AFL champion, then we're giving ourselves the best chance at winning a flag in the near future.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but isnt there going to be a second trade period after the draft this year, where players picked up in the draft can be traded??

If we pick up a gun who's not the kind of player we need, can't we just trade him, (or another KPP), for a good young fast midfielder from another club??

Example if we pick up kennedy, we can ontrade him for a young midfielder from a team like the bulldogs who are desperate for a KPP.

There isn't any other year, why would there be this year?

I'm almost certain its something they've proposed this year. Wether it takes effect this year or next im not sure

I remember reading something on afl.com.au earlier on in the year.
