No I wouldnt have a clue what an ombudsman does. I don't know anything about Internal Investigations . But you're line of thinking that they can't be corrupt like rank-and-file cops, you're dreaming.

Let's see,

Generally i would subdue the person in question and tell them to calm down or i will arrest you for causing a public disturbance. With sit 2, i , it will depend if he is being aggressive towards me. If it is known of his violence but in talking to him he seems ok, that's fine. If not, well i will just say that i just want to get the bloke home, but if he is still aggressive i will just leave him. Last resort would be to get back in the squad car and run the bastard over. That will teach him. Not too fussed about the not renewing the license, for me there are occasions where i would not be policing everything that is not up to date, i would just gently remind him to do his best to try to renew his license soon. I would also just ask him to tell me where he lives, or for some reason he is reluctant i will just say tell me a place close to your house or someone you know that i can drop you off at.

With that one on the violent guy with another unconscious, i would go the pepper spray. If there's not spray or if you back yourself in using your own skills to subdue the man, i would do that. I am not sure if cops are given any martial arts styled training to subdue people, but i reckon they should learn Krav Marga. The thing with all this is that as cops i feel you cannot deal with a situation with everything going your way - something will have to give. I wouldn't be too worried by some feral whinging about 'excessive' force.

I am quite sure you are having a lend but I will humour you. Is this an assumption of who I know? You were responding to a BB post referring to police corruption, of which this thread has nothing whatsoever to do with. It is expected from BB, who when cant answer a question, simply changes the subject. I would have thought you were beyond that, and I hope you are. It would be nice for once to keep a thread on track rather than being hijacked. It is quite easy to start a new thread on a seperate topic, if thats what a poster desires.

I understand what can happen if you dont read the whole thread. I am guilty of this myself. It is more difficult when reading posts after hijackers who completely change the subject to suit there own personal needs.
