What do you sing??

If you look at the meaning behind the 2 different words, it does make quite a difference to the song.

With all the champions they like to send US. - Self explanitory

or

With all the champions they like to send UP (against us)
We'll keep our end up (and win)
And then ..........

For me, I prefer the 2nd option.

YEEEEAAAAHHHHHH I thought I was the only one...wha, wha, wha, wha, whaaaaa
:D:D:D:D:D

Its a bit hard to pick up the tune in writing so i was wondering, is that the start of the carlton theme song or is that the sound of the crying you'll be making this weekend

"We’re the only team old Carlton knows..."

That part of the song make sense to anyone else??

Not ever. I look around when the crowd is singing just to make sure I'm not the only one but them's the words alright.

Does it have to make sense?

We're Carlton, ____ the rest

P.S, we have 16 premierships too

Just once I'd love to sing "tear down the thunder from the sky."
Now that's a lyric.

At least we are not girt by sea
Just let me sing Lily a few mlore times this year please
Sung with a blown voice following a victory - who cares what the lyrics are (But I am a traditionalist)

As far as I remember from 'the golden age 1979-1995' the words went:

..we're the team that never let you down, we're the only team FROM CARLTON TOWN..

...with all the champions they love to send up, we'll KEEP OUR END UP

That's what i always thought it was,
usually the beer will determine which version.

But everyone knows thunder is torn, not shaken? :o

Shaken, not torn!

I just thought it was odd that we'd want to "send up" our champions.

I always thought they would like to "send us" to keep our end up.

I must admit its been a source of confusion as the ground version does sound like "UP" but I have always sung us.

Just didn't seem to make sense the other way.

Good thread though.

Someone should ask what the players sing.......pretty sure it sounds like "us".

I figured it was all the other champions that they send up (to PP to challenge us), and we still keep our ends up?

In which case there is little difference between send up and send us.

Interesting.

I always thought the "Champions" were Blues champions.........being sent up.......umm.......maybe onto the wall with their pic?:o

Dunno. Never really thought that much about it.

I guess it finishes "then they'll know that they've been playing........" so I guess "they" could be the opposition champions that "they'd like to send up".....to PP as you say.

In which case you'd be right, us or up both fit...........the mystery continues.

Not one to blow my own trumpet ( I have a gorgeous lady to do that) but what a gr8 thread... no one still knows?

I will continue with......Da Da Da Da Dar....your turn fellas....lets bring it...sing it loud, sing it PROUD!! next line
