Opinion What do you want from 2018?

I think after today most people will be resigned to us not making finals, so besides wins, what do want to see/get out of this year?

1. McLean play midfield. Think we’re getting this now that Liber is down, but I want to see him play every game and attending most CB’s.

2. Richards and English play every game they’re fit for. English is our future gun ruck, we really need him to be the main man in 2019. Richards has pace, takes the game on and can kick. All things we struggle with.

3. Lipinski play all remaining games he’s fit for. Haven’t seen much of him, but we need natural forwards ASAP..

4. Schache/Boyd play together. Hopefully it happens once both are fit.

5. Naughton play as the third tall. Think he’ll be much better once Moz and Adams are back. I want to see him play the Lever role.

6. A forwardline of
Dale - Schache - Dunkley
Dahlhaus - Boyd - Lipinski

7. Picko and Moz play atleast one more game..

Manic pressure that won us games in 2015 and 2016.

If we're committed to a rebuid from pumping games into players to get them experience before they play a part in our next flag, we've also got to see the signs of how we're gonna win that flag tactically. Two games in and I haven't seen it yet.

Something resembling an orthodox structure.

No more Dunkley in the ruck, Jong FF, Daniel on resting fwd ruck and Gowers on ball. That’d be a start.

English to play every game. He's going to get mauled some weeks and there will be calls for his head, but we need more players who can be amongst the best the league at their position and he can be. Accelerating his development is important.

Simplicity!

Defenders are defenders, mids are mids and forwards are forwards. Don't want to hear flexibility.

Improve kicking skills and ability to mark the ball in a contest. Get specialised coaches for these two basic requirements of an AFL side. Teach players how to position their bodies in packs and practice foot skills have a genuine program not a gesture of one.

Play with KPP at full back,, full forward, CHF and CHB.

Get someone in the coaches box to help Bev. This is not open for discussion with Bev he gets a senior assistant
ASAP.

Get back to basic structures and effort is not negotiable.

What do you now want from 2018?

A good root, its been a while.

On the footy front, a Dogs team that at least tries to resemble an AFL team for at least some of the games they play.

Maybe they could try to sometimes tackle blokes in the other jumpers. Maybe the coaches could play players in their probable best positions for whole games and have some sort of strategy to stop the other guys scoring more than 100 points.

Maybe for short periods some of our players could actually kick the ball to one of their team mates in a good position where they don't have 3 of the other guys (usually taller) sweating on them.

Maybe they could figure out a way to get the ball into our forward line in a manner where we might actually get it and kick a goal sometimes.

And most importantly, maybe they can ****ing figure out how the shortest man in the AFL ends up defending against a ruckman in the goal square.

Young, Lipinski, Boyd, Schache to all get solid game time. Play Richards for an extended period, give Greene a go.

Schache is a 20 year who’s had mental health issues and queries over his competitiveness.

We don’t have one genuine small forward, nor medium forward (post-Dickson).

Our next forward line is a long long long way off unfortunately.

I want to see our players put in a position to do their best. I want to see them motivated.

I’d like to see us play Redpath, English and Schache, with Red & Schache forward at all times, and at least try something other than the world’s shittiest mosquito fleet. The small forward line isn’t kicking goals and isn’t applying pressure - so why keep it?

Boyd is easily our best ruck, he should be playing over Roughead every week.

Naughton and Richards should keep getting games. I’d like to see Lipinski and Greene get games.

If we’re going to bottom out, which I don’t think is on the cards after only two games, I’d rather we do it this year when the draft is loaded and we can potentially get a gun and West.

Surely Smithy is earmarked to be a ruck. Roughy moved to a back pocket. Daniel leading out of a goal square. Once fit Morris can move into the centre to help Suckling extract the footy.
