What do you want our team to be like by 2022.

I don't know about 2022 because there are young guys playing listed in the OP that wont be on the list in 2022, but from the guys that played against West Coast on Friday night, born after 1/1/97 and taken since the 2015 draft, that in 2027 the following guys will be 30 or younger;

Ryan Burton
Dan Houston
Riley Bonner
Todd Marshall
Sam Powell Pepper
Willwm Drew
Connor Rozee
Zak Butters
Xavier Duursma

Apart from Bonner, I reckon all the other 8 guys above have the talent to still be on the list in 2027 if they avoid injury, or Wingard type malaise, or Polec type big $$$ offer.

If so that's a core of 8 players that will play close to 150 to 200 games together.

In 2004 GF side there were probably 5 guys that had played around 150 games together, Wanga's, Tredders, Peter B, Kingsley and James and another 8 that had played 100+ games with these 5 ie, Chad, Dew, Wilbur, Lade, Schofield, Montgomery, Carr and Bishop.

By 2007 that would have been Tredders and Peter 200 together about 175 together Lade and Chad, 150 Wakelin and Kane and then Shaun, Dom and Brogan 100 or so together.

What’s intersting is our back 6, pretty much unchanged. I wonder what the likelihood of that happening.

IMO no point including Coniglio or Lukosius. Otherwise we may as well put in Fyfe and Dangerfield too.

FF Lycett, Marshall, Farrell
HF Rozee, Frampton, Butters
C Duursma, Wines, Burton
HB Garner, Howard, Byrne-Jones
FB Houston, Clurey, Lienert

RUCK
Hayes
Drew
Powell-Pepper

id be happy to use that line up this weekend if we could. exactly what we need to look to the future....

we need to draft another KFB and KPF asap.
And another fast midfielder.

The year 2022 is three drafts and three trading periods away. Who knows who we will draft or pick up via trades ?

Three drafts back our side for round 23 against the Dockers included Chad Wingard, Cameron O'Shea, Nathan Krakouer, Jasper Pittard, Brendon Ah Chee, Matthew Lobbe, Jack Hombsch, Jarman Impey, Jake Neade and John Butcher. We might have expected the majority of those guys to still be around in 2019 but circumstance has meant otherwise.
That list does not include Jay Schultz or Matthew White who were doubtful due to age plus Jarrod Polec and Jackson Trengove who were both unavailable.

The point is you cannot get too far ahead in the this game as you never know what is likely to happen. The fact is we have gone through half a side in three years.

By 2022, 2021, no … 2020 … stuff it … I'd want a team of skilled men with bulk and salivating for success. A few All-Australians and a couple of AFL stars that play better when the expectation is heaped upon them, and that goes for the entire team. Also with a coach that is plenty confident that they don't need to talk it up during the week nor tell us we love being underdogs.

Kern is in year 2 of his new six year deal.

We impressively made finals in 2020 before losing in the EF after being 15 points up with 3 minutes to go. Gaff kicks the winner after the siren. Shame, but Kenny gets his bonus for making finals.

Average home crowd attendances have dropped to 28k. But the match day experiences are great as we now have a hologram of Michael hutchence who sings up until the ball is bounced. We have the wiggles at half time to keep the under 6s entertained.

2021 was a disappointing year where we finish 11th, losing 5 games by under a kick. Ken assures us that with a bit of luck we would have won all 5 games and been top 4. Nuffies on Facebook continue to stand by ken as "the club knows what there doing".

Rozee has been traded to the crows because he skipped chadbro's bbq to play Warcraft 4. Duursma and butters delisted after their careers stagnate. Westhoff is still floating around about to play his 350th and you're just waiting for him to explode after he plays that one game where he looks like a lanky Nat Fyfe before disappearing the rest of the season.

We trade in the package jakey stringer for a 3rd rounder after 2 disappointing seasons within Essendon. He's caught in the off season hanging around outside a high school and shows up 10kegs overweight.

We change our motto to: "we sometimes battle hard for our little community and try to make them proud"

Tri-captains wines, lycett and clurey take turns having a go at being captain and were the first club to bring in a reality show where saafl plodders or Chinese imports have a chance to captain the power for a day in a real AFL game!
