We have gone backwards since we have moved to the state of the art facility.
Time to get harsh and remove the waterslides.

Agreed. They have served their purpose in helping to lure good players across to the club but now I fear they are a distraction. Instead of extra skills sessions, the guys spend hours on the slides.

This more than any other factor explains our lack of success in recent years. Will our club have the guts to change this? I think we all know the answer to that. Of course Rosich won’t change this now, as to do so would be to concede his waterslide focused strategy was flawed.

- New s&c
- Ross with a few ultimatum placed on him
- new assistant coaches
- Probably new coach by mis next season
- A heap of luck with injuries
- Hoping and praying at least two of logue, cerra, Brayshaw become elite mids
- Hogan to pan out
- pierce to get his body right
- I know most of you give no shits about Freo but it would be good for Dockers to reconnect with it's roots in a new way. Connect with the success of the place. Freo is one of the great footy cities there's got to be a positive way to tap into that that the players and supporters can get around. We are so corporate feeling these days imo.
- we are accumulating some serious deadwood at the bottom of our list, clean them out

We need to lure more quality people to the club in all departments.

All the things we get frustrated about - injuries, skills, gameplan, recruiting, development will begin seeing improvements if we put the right people in positions in charge of those areas.

We don't know the internal workings of the club from the outside, but when we see those things go wrong consistently it's clear we currently don't have the right people.

If we are having trouble finding those people, then it's the board we need to start with because other clubs in similar positions to us have succeeded in doing so.

I don’t think there’s anything that can guarantee a premiership, look at GWS

You just need luck

You have to be good in a lot of different areas to win a flag. It's not luck. Go through the premiers of the last 10 years or so, all professionally run clubs who are strong in all departments.

Keep Hill and Langdon
Either chuck the S&C team or send them to infiltrate Hawthorn and Brisbane and learn how to PROPERLY handle injuries and recovery
Get a proper head of recruiting/list management
Change the whole assistant coaching group (except Roger)
Unfortunately wait a couple of years for all the 19-20 year olds to mature into hardened AFL players
Stop extending the contracts of old players who are past it
Stop going after every WA player who wants to come home, even if they’re crap
Stop giving bog average ‘bring/them-home’ recruits 3-year deals, and then having to delist decent players because there’s no list room
Either back the coach 100%, or sack him now, and find someone who could do the job better
Can’t think of anything else right now, but I think that’s a pretty compressive list for now

Luck is more important than coaching or injury management, in fact the difference between Richmond winning a premiership and not was literally luck with injuries

The difference between having an injury list like Brisbane’s this year and being struck down is luck, the difference in quality of professionals is near-negligible in actual output and injury prevention, it’s not like having a first round draft pick vs a rookie pick, best practice to injury and load management is generally the same - Rowan Marshall was about 1cm off ripping his hammy or doing his knee, instead with a bit of luck he returns to the game and we don’t get the win

Yeah, winning a flag is mostly based on luck right? That's why every team is a chance every year and its just down to luck which one takes out the flag right?

Why even bother training or having coaches? It's all luck right?

Luck is a factor but it's no coincidence that the better run teams usually have better luck.

Hypothetical, say Player X has a niggle and there's a 50% chance he'll rip his hammy next game. Team A does nothing and plays him as is. Team B recognizes the niggle and during the week makes decisions on his training load, recovery time and other sports science stuff that is beyond me. Player X now has a 30% chance of ripping the hammy.

He might get injured in both scenarios and that's bad luck - but over the course of a season, the laws of probability say Team B will stack up less injuries than Team A because luck is weighted in their favour. Good teams will still have random bad luck, like someone breaking a leg in a contest or something - but having better people making better decisions will stack up their good luck for things that they can have an influence on, like soft tissue injuries. You could apply this to other departments too like recruiting.

A full review as to why our key position and rucks continually suffer long term leg and feet stress related injuries. There must be a better way of getting miles into their legs than lumping 100 plus kilos lap after lap around the training track made rock hard by the summer sun over pre season.

keep it's 22 best players on the park. Not push our talls so hard they can't make it through half a season without leg injuries. We lost close ones to Melb, GC, Saints, and Blues. I doubt that would have happened if we were able to play Tabs, Hoges, Lobb, and Pearce and we would be talking about finals positions right now. That is all.
