Just interested to know what motivates people on this forum to dedicate so much time to supercoach.

I am a self confessed supercoach addict and spend far too much time each week thinking about how I can improve my team. My motivation is that that I'm in a league with mates. Not only are bragging rights on the line but we've all put in $50 and the winner of the grand final takes all. I love the banter it's created between all of us each week.

I'm interested to know what spurs you guys on to dedicate so much time on your supercoach team? Is it money with mates/bragging rights/overall price etc

Smashing the be-jesus out of my mates....... I'm in three leagues and running 4th, 2nd (On percentage) and outright 1st. The only one I really care about is the last one with all my mates in it. Absolutely killing them. Three games clear, undefeated and with a cple of upgrades to come to finish off my team.

Overall wise my only goals are to crack a score of 2,500 just once this year and finish in top 10,000.

This is the 4th year of the work league, and the same guy has won it every year. I came close last year after leading all season, only to fall at the last hurdle- very Geelong of me .

This year I'm lagging behind after a promising start, but seem to have timed my run a little better- am now in 6th, and might get into the 4 before finals (everyone above me plays each other in the next couple of weeks whereas I've got two fairly easy games).

One of my fellow Sainters in the league (there are 5 of us oddly enough, including 3 of the current top 4) is caning everyone owing to his prediliciton for picking a lot of our boys, so with luck he can knock the Sinner off his perch finally.

Oh, and I spend more time on this than a teenager on Facebook

It means everything to me. Supercoach has taken over my life. I used to have a life, I used to go out every Friday and Saturday night. Now I just sit at home in front of a computer and watch a bunch of numbers on a screen increase. I spend hours and hours just checking numbers and seeing if my numbers are higher than someone else's numbers.

I truly believe supercoach is more harmful than any drug out there. I know that it's ruining my life, but I am powerless to stop it.

So sad but I know exactly how you feel. Especially the bit about spending hours in front of the screen watching numbers increase.

My girlfriend keeps asking me why I monitor the scores so carefully when I have zero control over the final numbers. I'm yet to come up with an answer to that one. She's already kindly informed me that I'll only be putting one team in next year, instead of the three I have in at the moment

Another thing I'm finding particularly disturbing is my growing habit of cheering my fantasy players over my beloved Crows. There was a game a few weeks back when Tippet and Thompson were destroying the Tigers, and I found myself getting angry at them because my league opponent had both players...disgraceful really.

very funny.

Not bad efforts but...

Wife hates me. 5 mins into Fridays game she was on at me. Pissed off that I take the TV and the laptop so I can have FF ticking over. (boo hoo she doesn't get to read StalkBook 'aka Facebook')

Apparantly I have kids. I'll see them in September I guess.

I live in Geelong and work in Melbourne so I have about 3 hours of SEN a day hoping to catch a snippet of info when I'm not listening to Podcasts of YSCC or the Coaches Box.

And I have taken to booking meetings rooms at my work on Mondays and Fridays so I can sneak away and catch up on news, BF and some team planning on TooSerious. (as I am doing right now!!) I produce better SC spreedsheets to track my team and plan my trades than I ever do for work.

One day I WILL get dismissed because of this. Cant wait for future job interviews when they ask "why did you leave your last job?"

Man, that is like looking into a (virtual) mirror.

I'm in probably the busiest phase of my life at the moment. Am working 50-60 hrs a week, doing 2 x full-time degrees at Uni, trying to find time to have a relationship, see my mates etc., and my #1 priority ATM is SC.

I spend my working hours counselling drug & alcohol addicts...if only they knew my dirty little secret. :(

that is fantastic :D

I am flying up to gold coast tomorrow morning for work and will be up there until friday night. Now I know they have internet in QLD but the thought of being away from my usual work/home computer after teams are announced and having to rely on interstate internet to connect and process my trades has been playing on my mind all week!

Being a Melbourne supporter , Sc is a great distraction:)

I am in real close league BF 8(13th overrall), where everyone takes it very serious, see number of posts done in SC league sub section, most of the Psych comments are positive in Sc website it self, anyone from 4 down to 13 could make 8 for those who miss out they would probably be in top 4 of most leagues

totally agree about family life comments..lol
crikey i'll have withdrawl symptoms in 6 weeks

I do it to try and win the prizes. I don't care about the league. For example in DT, I know it's not SC but same thing pretty much, I am 8th or 9th in my league but have scored the most points out of anyone.

I started it last year and it's quickly over taken over my other hobbies. I spend ages reading articles for that little bit of extra knowledge and when my team fails I say

"It's not my fault, they failed to live up to my expectations!"

Ironically I'm having my best year in footy tipping and don't care in the slightest!

some of you guys are sad haha!

but then again my missus is pissed cuz every thursday it's footy show and supercoach...plus i'd spend a fair bit of time each day at work on SC based emails stirring up the other guys in my league!!! all office bitches so everyones at their computer all day so theres always quick replies!

t banger i agree.....i found myself not to distressed at our loss to saints last weekend as i have dal santo, reiwoldt, goddard and fisher in my team......

defitnetly overall win even though i spent at least a few days doing my original team but still managed to **** it up

but i have come up with a list of about 30 premiums to pick from to upgrade to and start with so hopefully that will help alot more and hopefully i can come 1st next year :D

Overall takes some skill byut also much luck.

If you started with rich, ottens in the mid reserves with one playing and then higgins, skippy krak all in fwd line and roo and picked correctly who will rise from teh slums (roo, rok) and who wont pick up againf or teh year (cooney etc..) then you will do well overall.

Yes you can pick all the players correctly with skill, but its unlikely.. you needed a bit of luck to get laim anthony and not muston. and not to fall for cheney or robinson. And to get rucks that didn't flail around.

Im doing it for a league win or atleast win over most mates, hence bragging rights.. and some of that bragging involves overall.
