Anyway I'm sick of this thread derailment, just look at s11 from the Criminal Law (Sentencing) Act.

11—Imprisonment not to be imposed except in certain circumstances
(1) A sentence of imprisonment may only be imposed—
(a) if, in the opinion of the court—
(i) the defendant has shown a tendency to violence towards other
persons; or
(ii) the defendant is likely to commit a serious offence if allowed to go at
large; or
(iii) the defendant has previously been convicted of an offence
punishable by imprisonment; or
(iv) any other sentence would be inappropriate, having regard to the
gravity or circumstances of the offence; or
(b) if a sentence of imprisonment is necessary to give proper effect to the policies
of the criminal law stated in section 10.

It's just not going to happen.

And it is a minor assualt in the same way that Nathan Bock's assault was a minor assault. Assaults can cause permanent injury or disfigurement, not just touched up Bruises (hell if you want to see a real politician victim of an assualt check out Silvio Bersculoni).

And also FWIW I don't believe in the sacralisation of anyone based on their position, I fail to see why Mike Rann being hit over a personal matter is more important than me being hit over a personal matter.

If it was politically motivated there may be a distinction, but in this case there's not.

Hi guys - I have a group you should all join (I would post a thread but it says I'm not allowed to yet)

It's called "The Zone" - In a nutshell it has been created by a friend of mine for Adelaide fans aged 16-35 (anyone can join though!) and when it (hopefully) gets enough fans there will be pub crawls, quiz nights and interstate trips etc organised. We already have two sponsors and the AFC have agreed to line up a meeting should we reach our aim of 1000 fans by the end of the NAB cup period. All help would be appreciated!
