PLAY at the Australian Open was disrupted today when a lighted orange flare was thrown onto a court.

Tennis Australia officials said a 15-year-old boy had been apprehended by security staff after the flare landed on court one during a doubles match featuring Russian Anna Kournikova.

Officials said security staff escorted the boy from Melbourne Park and had referred the matter to the police.

Play was held up for more than 10 minutes to allow the players to compose themselves.

No serious damage was done to the court by the incident and no-one was injured, officials said.

I've noticed in every match Kournikova plays that the same guy sits in the same seating area. He's wearing a Detroit Red Wings hockey sweater with the name and number of Sergei Federov (one of Anna's ex-dates). I swear he's been at every match she's played, even saw him in person last week when I went.
