At least they (power) are doing the right thing by the Hawks and keeping us from being on the bottom, dare I say it? More Power to them, poor joke I know but I gotta try and find something to smile about.

I'm not panicking yet, Grendel. When the boys actually managed to get the damn footy into the forward line, the forwards were menacingly efficient. Gerard Healey said our forward and back lines were just about there so the improvement is needed in mid-field. I was behind the legend goal when thommo took his mark. It looked impossible but the ball swerved into his arms. Croady's leap from a stnding stert must be the best I've ever seen. And 18 goals, even on the losing side (I don't think carlton eased off at all) is a big improvement in my opinion I was a bit surprised we didn't try to kick straight up the ground as we seemed to be efficient when we did.
I guess you need to be 100% to beat carltona t optus, and we weren't. It was a typical 'last losing game in a form slump before getting a win' type game (I hope)
I don't know if you went but of the 21,000 crowd a maximum of 500-1000 wer hawks. was it a boycott or because it was on the telly?

I would be more worried if I barracked for Port. Give the Hawks time, I reckon they will come good around week 3-4, as will the Crows.
Port on the other hand, well, better start planning for next year-you suck.

Hey Pess. Yeah I admit the centre is killing us art the moment, but im not to fussed with the rest of the set ups either!
Cindy is either ill or has been kidnapped and replaced by aliens. Taylor should never have been dropped and anytime I see tallis named in the seniors I feel sick!
Young hasnt done a thing yet andhe better pull his finger out soon or a vfl call up is on the cards. Also the set ups for the kick outs are abysmall. Hay should be instructed to handball at all times and the long and wide to fish wont work ALL the time.
Still there is some encouragement, Jade is looking like he is ready to become a senior regular and like you say, if (Heavy sigh) we can get it down to the forwrds quickly and with precision they are looking like they could be a real force.
Got to say though that Brisbanes midfield scares me, but I thought the same thing last year and they went close.

I suppose he wouldn't be used to losing. Now they are playing with the big boys they might have to swallow their pride and enjoy life down the bottom. Must be a bit of a culture shock for him. Not that I am losing any sleep over their performances.

Fancy meeting up with you guys down at this end of the ladder. I'm having some real bad early 90s flashbacks right now. Hello Hawks too.
Anyway, I'm not sure what Port are doing down here.....I was assured by someone that they'd be undefeated at this stage and so far ahead that the AFL were just going to cancel the season and simply hand over the Y2K premiership trophy to the Port boys. But in news just through....Port being on the bottom is just part of a fiendish plot to snaffle the first couple of draft picks so they can win the Y2K+1 premiership.

Shinboners, I can't help but remember our match against you guys in round 4 last year. You were 1 win, 3 loses and coming off a defeat against the Swans when you had it in the bag. The game was at the SCG and we had a 6 goal lead early on until you fought back and won by 2 points. The rest is history. Hardly another loss, premiership, end of story. I don't think I would need to remind you about that.
I doubt we will be seeing you at this end of the ladder for much longer. I can only hope some of our players pull their fingers out and we can rise up the ladder too.
Your right Gonzo, we must get back on the topic. I thought Fremantle were sensational on Saturday night. Against an opposition as good as you were telling us, they must be odds on for the flag.

Hello folks!
I see that Port Adelaide, even when playing poorly, still has the mystique and charisma to have everyone talking about them.
I don't think there'd be too many people who would have much to say when their team has had two successive defeats like Port has.
Unless you're:
The sort of supporter who criticises their own team at the drop of a hat (eg Richmond 'supporters') or;
Used to your team losing badly (eg Collingwood, Fremantle, St Kilda, Bulldogs in finals, etc).
Well I'm not going to criticise Port in an open forum of unbelievers. I can't defend their performances over the last two weeks, so I'm not saying anything.
If I lived in Adelaide I'd still be going to their games every week. When they come to Perth this year I'll be there.
I'm not running back to the SANFL - I've never left there, unlike most Crows fans who deserted their underachieving SANFL clubs when the Crows stopped being an embarrassment.
This is all new ground for Port supporters. We're used to being abused out of jealousy, but not being ridiculed for being bottom of the ladder! Good job the PAFC has the character, the resolve, the TRADITION to never accept mediocrity and to bounce back...

I'm sure that the Saints will come into some form and will start heading up towards the non-Port Adelaide* end of the ladder. In the last couple of weeks, you haven't had the Wakelin boys to hold down the key defensive posts. If you get a fit and confident Jason Heatley back into the side, then your team starts to look pretty strong. And there's the Sean Charles wildcard...if he plays anywhere near how he played for Melbourne, he'll be brilliant for you. The only problem is that you need to stop Tim Watson from making moves like placing Harvey and Burke outside of the centre square....I was at the Sydney vs St. Kilda match....what was that move all about?
Anyway, keep the faith.

Speaking about sticking to topics Power Mad, I was under the impression that the topic was regarding your absence from these boards rather than Port Adelaides form. We are really not that interested in discussing the form of your team. But I am sure you won't mind, as long as your team continues to overachieve in that "highly competitive SANFL" competition.
Shinboners, you are definitely right but I can't help feeling, along with Tim and all of the media, that we are leaving too much work to so few players. How someone can kick 9 goals and still be comprehensively beaten is beyond me. Especially when Tim finally woke up and realised that Harvey and Burke should be played in the middle. With our backs against the wall against a good team like the eagles, this is usually the time that we have a good win to give the supporters some hope. Lets hope we can make it 6 in a row against them.
