Didak not a midfielder, never will be too slow, run down by Charman twice in the space of 5 seconds.
Sorry guys not trolling, just have to say that gave me a good laugh.

And even though i dislike the guy i thought thomas tried his guts out last night. Looks like a girl but plays like a man:thumbsu:

I actually noticed him get a stack of hitouts. I thought his tap work was very, very good. Unfortunately, they were all picked up by Simon Black, and then as we all know, Richards proceeded to be an absolute liability around the ground.

His ruckwork was OK. But once the ruck contest is finished we're playing one short. The ruck at Collingwood is a disgrace. It has been for years, and nothing ever changes.

He was not the only one who continually didn't put there head over the ball. To many times last night I saw Collingwood players deviate off there line while the Brisbane player ran through like on rail way tracks. You only have to do this once and the opposition start to think that they have right of way.

Exactly, he wasn't the only one. But 3 weeks ago everyone was hard at it, one soft player gets a game and it becomes infectious. No cooincidence in my opinion.

Although not a great game from Thomas he was at least one of the few Collingwood players who was prepared to put his body on line.

To be fair to Didak he is coming off a knee re-construction and will take time to get back to where he was before it happened. You only have to look at other players and how long it took them to get back to there best after a knee injury like that. It was a effort in itself to get him back as quick as we did.

thankfully i had a party last night which involved alot of drinking so the lost wasnt so bad to swallow. anyways back to what happened last night or rather what didnt for us.....disgraceful, shocking, pathetic, poor, any number of adjectives could discribe last night. what were going through their minds seriously they did not even look interested in playing football let alone winning. I hope this is just a one off. but i have been worried for the past month or so about our inability so far to actually string 2 wins together it has been w l w l w l w l...rather annoying.

Congrats to Brisbane they really absolutely killed us! I believe it was a big reality check and again emphasised even more our weakness which have been so obvious for a while now eg RUCK!

This is what happened!

We just did not mentally show up! We are much better than that!!!!! That was the worst loss of recent memory. If I was Malthouse, I would tell the boys, to destroy that DVD or tape and never talk about it again. That should have never happened.

Brisbane would have beaten most sides the way they played last night. They were simply awesome, quicker, stronger, and more skillful. We were beaten in every position on the ground. Rhan Hooper (or should I say Bob Marley) killed us last night. Leon Davis and Alan Didak were embrassased. Presti is definately not fit. He wasn't fit last week and this week was terrible. Our defensive pressure last night was non existant. We could not lay a TACKLE. Like Malthouse said, it was an embrassament. I was there and Matthews knows the way Malthouse plays. I go every week and I know how Collingwood plays.

Firstly, Whoever is playing on Rocca, Make sure he is tall and quick. Jason Roe exposed him. He ran off him a billion times last night. He would always get a kick up forward and Rocca would be 10 meters behind. Rocca cannot run and it is quickly becoming a liability. We have to make sure whoever is our next full forward can run. Thats why I think Mick wants Rusling in the side A.S.A.P, so he can chase down blokes and cover the weakness in Rocca.

Secondly, After watching nearly all the Malthouse-era games since 2000. I think i've missed 3 in Melbourne, our major strength is our attack from the half back line. But Matthews knows how to play us. The Malthouse game-style always comes counter-attacking through the wings, that is how we play, and Matthews knows that. He would make sure players we zoning off and were ready for us to attack through the wings. Everytime, he had players ready for us.

But as I said earlier, If I was Mick, I would never discuss that game ever again. I play football and everyone knows you go through a game like that every now and then. That loss, will either BREAK US or MAKE US!!!!!

The Brisbane Lions have been Collingwood's bogey side for many years. Collingwood has grabbed the odd win (including the two games prior to last night), but these have come mainly when the Lions have had injury problems.

Every team has its bogey side - West Coast are terrified of Port Adelaide, Carlton have a remarkably good record against Essendon, Adelaide beat Sydney with minimum fuss and Hawthorn trouble Geelong.

The Brisbane Lions, for the main part, have been a superior side to Collingwood in the last ten years which explains their superior win-loss record, but Collingwood have taken some terrible hidings from Brisbane in that time, and it seems there is nothing the Magpies fear more than maroon, blue and gold jumpers.

Ironically, Fitzroy were always a thorn in the side of Collingwood pre-merger, and would often upset them or run them close in games Collingwood were heavily favoured to win.

what really summed up our performance was in the third quarter when thomas was streaking down the wing, 2 pies to provide shephards, yet they just let the lions play run right by, catch thomas and then manhandle him over the line. it was an absolute disgrace.

Daisy tried his heart out, but there were too many out there not fit to wear the shirt.

i am hoping like hell that either didsie or MM is at club night this week, cos i am gonna grill them as to why didak plays everywhere except the forward line.

Licuria and Lonie are at best trade bait. disgraces to the shirt

and what the hell has happened to dane swan?? the guy was playing at fullback for christs sake. his last 3 weeks have really gone down the toilet.

i left at 3/4 time. and the only reason i stayed so long was to see if the players got booed off the ground, like their performance deserved.

Licuria is probably finished, and Lonie was crap, but mind you he had plenty of mates out there.

How did the herald sun have Lonie as our best player????

Well for starters Nick Maxwell should of been playing on Jared Brennan and Martin Clarke should not of been playing in the centre. Let Clarke Didak Lonie Licuria and Richards go back to Williamstown. Bring back Toovey Cox Dick Shaw and Bryan into our side. Because if changes aint made next week the Blues will kill us.

As much as it pains me to say it, I think Licuria is now past it. I wouldn't be surprised if he hangs up the boots at the end of the season, and I have always been a huge Licca admirer.

Lonie got a lot of possession, but for mine he continually put teammates under pressure, was indecisive and his tackling was again limp. I've had it with Lonie, hard sides like Brisbane just show up how much of a netballer he is. Ditto Richards, whose centre bounce work was great but then he may as well be dragged. He's not a footballer.

What happened? We were brutally murdered by a team that play a class above us. Now it's time to take the tape to training and make them watch the game again.

One rumour that has been going around is that the reason we played so bad is that just before the game against Brisbane,Buckley announced his retirement,to all the players inthe rooms, hence why they all lost the vibe to play well that night.
To me that may not be too far from the truth becuase a team doesn't perform like that after playing well in previous weeks.
So at year's end we should say bye bye,to Richards, licuria, lonie, maybe obree, and sadly ,wakelin.

We were smashed in the middle. Rucks and mids were just out everythinged all night. Not fast enough, not hard enough, not intense enough, not skilled enough....

Apart from intensity and skill we lacked a ruckman, a stopper and a game breaking mid. Intensity we can fix quickly. The rest is for the off season. Unfortunately our only two stoppers of any note over the last few years are struggling. Licuria basically has struggled for three years and if MM had balls he’d see out the rest of his final year at Willi. Holland will get a chance to resurrect his year soon enough.

Clarke was one of our better players against Brisbane. There are a hell of a lot of players you drop before Martin Clarke. In fact I thought he was probably our best midfielder, when basically our entire midfield was rubbish. The fact that Maxwell kicked 4 goals says he was fine where he played. If the rotation of players that played on Brennan couldn't stop him kicking 7, Maxwell wasn't going to.

Looking at the game it's tempting to say we were just out-coached - more with game-plan and strategy pre-game than game-day coaching. Lions midfield system was vastly superior with numbers behind the pack ready to pounce and numbers running wide and forward to receive. Also a brilliantly simple forward strategy of huddling then leading out into space, while our forward line ran around randomly like headless chooks, if they ran at all, and were completely throttled by the Brians flood.

But that might not necessarily be true or at least only partially, since if the players are having a bad day they of course make the coach look bad.
I think MM is definitely a great development coach, but whether he can take us to a flag I'm not sure. Someone else might have to take over in a year or 2 to finish the job, but that probably won't happen since he'll keep tantalizing with top-6 finishes. So I hope he proves me wrong.

I think some of your kids are tiring like ours are.
Yes that's a pretty good point - hopefully they recycle some of our other kids like Toovey, Cox, Stanley, DAvies, Reid, Dick etc. and give some of the others a week off completely - this week with the Willy bye is a good opp.
