I will be sad that we got caught while other clubs haven't been caught.
Simple as that.
If they give us the same panalty as the Storm I'll be angry.

However I do not think the AFL will dish out that type of penalty. As the other clubs, I would like to believe would not like to see in any circumstances a premeirship taken way from another club.I would not like to see it.

Not to defend Rugby League here (i absolutely hate the game) its interesting to note when Melbourne Storm joined the league apparently they got nothing. Nada, zil, zip concessions from the NRL to entice/recruit players down to Melbourne. Imo thats just a tad bit harsh, considering how it is with the AFL and new teams that join our comp?

Just an observation is all.
I can sort of live with the no concessions bit as the NRL is a different competition and in reality the NSW teams have been sooking about the Storm in the comp since they joined. Giving then any extra money would have ended badley.

What has been the most annoying thing about the NRL is their complete lack of help trying to promote NRL in Victoria. They refuse to enforce their own clauses in the TV rights that say games should be on TV before midnight and do not even try to make nine play games on free TV to get people interested.

If I found out it Geelong did the same I would be gutted. I am a Storm supporter now and am gutted. I am however going to stick by them hoping they can survive.

I have decided I am going to buy my next computer from Harvey Norman ,even though they are expensive, as they have not deserted the sinking ship like many of the Storms other sponsers. So for their faith in the club they will get my money.

I already have a ticket for the Austrlian game at the new stadium and when ever they get around to selling them for the first Storm game I will be getting one for that as well.

even if geelong did breached the salary cap (which i highly doubt), we would still have 6 flags that can't be stripped...

on the other hand, if st. kilda breached the salary cap they've only got 1 flag to show for their entire club history haha i think that would be enough to probably send them into extinction

My username says it all.
Great user name, and I'm sure all of us who would be devastated would still be Geelong. There will never be any other team for me . But if we were to have our premierships taken away, and this season not for points, and the slur of a corrupt organization causing our demise, pretty hard to maintain an interest for the short term.
Am very glad we have the correct BRIAN to listen to.

I'd still be loyal to the gfc. Can't let my Skilled Stadium seats go to waste. :p

I wouldn't be visiting the bigfooty gb again though. I couldn't handle all the shit on there if that happened.

I wouldn't care that we still have the six flags. After all, the Storm still have the 1999 flag, so their trophy cabinet hasn't been entirely stripped clean.

I would be absolutely gutted if the '07 and '09 flags were taken off us as a result of salary cap breaches, as, unless you were alive in 1963, you wouldn't be able to say you saw Geelong win a legitimate flag. I'm sure though that with the players' willingness to take pay cuts to ensure the majority of our list can stay together, we never went down the same path as the Storm did.

If the team is formed illegally by breaking the salary cap then they cannot take pay cuts. It's a slap in the face of competition and the whole point of a salary cap.

Mate, I was so stunned upon hearing about the Storm (a Club and a sport I do not follow, nor care about) that I can't even imagine how bad I'd feel if it was the Cats. :(

I do know that I would definitely still barrack for them though.

I was referring to post 2007. I doubt we'd have been paying over the salary cap before then.

I would steal the premiership cups, I would wear one upside dowon on my head and carry the other. I would then strap dynamite to myself . Then I would run around the streets naked shrieking like a
woman for hours on end. Then after serving 3-4 yrs I would get out and come home and go on bay 13 only to have a port supporter say something smart and halfway through typing 119 I realize I can't. That's when I quietly turn off the computer, heat up the oven and stick my head in there.

What if after 3 years of wedded bliss , you find out your wife was sleeping with your best man from your first day of marriage. It would be like the last 3 years of your life were nothing but a lie.

I really don't know what I would do if this was where I found myself.

For Storm , who's fault is this?

The players who asked for more?
I have a feeling the NRL players look at the SC like the community used to look at drink driving. That sort "I know its wrong but I'm only five minutes from home and I'm only a little bit over!" In a moment of honesty they would say the rules are bogus or they don't apply to them etc. Well its a new world now , might not be a good idea to be paid in boats anymore boys

The Admin so weak?
Like a parent in the supermarket giving in to the screaming kid , they have weakly caved to demands. Perhaps they thought that if it all went pear shape the penalties would be that harsh. Or perhaps they just didn't really believe the drivel thats been trotted out the last couple of days , about this fantastic club and its fantastic loyal supporters. If they did believe it , wouldn't they have been willing to trust them with losing some players and going down the ladder for a while?

The xenophobic NERL ( NorthEast Rugby League)?
This so called National League is nothing but shabby bunch of self serving , ego driven anachronisms , their comp is more akin to VFL of the 70's in which the Grahame Richmond's and the George Harris's ruled the roost and thought the comp belong to 3 or 4 clubs. For some they would wish nothing but death to this Victorian abomination that has made their life hell. To crucify them for the crime they are all probably committing would not worry them at all , in fact they probably are laughing at the irony.

Who knows really. I know the paradigm is different for League , its probably closer to Soccer than AFL because hey have the pressure of overseas offers etc. Maybe they should look at the Soccer's use of franchise players , it would serve the same purpose of ensuring the comp is relatively even as all clubs could have 3 FP's for example.. I say 3 because it appears at first glance that this basically revolves around their 3 best players and I doubt this would have happened if they had of been allowed to pay these guys what they could afford to and what they were truly valued at on the world market.

The fact that Carlton are blatantly cheating the cap with Judd though, and given that history shows that the AFL are unwilling to remove premierships from those teams that cheat, I think we'd be pretty safe even if we were breaking the cap. I wouldn't care if it was proven that we cheated, because if other teams hadn't been cheating we would have won a few flags sooner. If they didn't take our premierships away, which I'm fairly certain they wouldn't, I'd tell the rest of the AFL to suck it up and take a spoonful of their own medicine.

Would be absolutely shattered, struggle to retain passion for the club, and then no doubt regain it.
Interesting Gallop has said the losing clubs in those years won't be recognised as premiers, I'd be dirty if a Manly/Parra fan. Storm cheated, pure and simple; went outside the rules to gain advantage over other contestants. In the Olympics if a medal winner cheats, those behind move up a spot. Surely he same should apply here?
Can't say for sure that Manly or Parra don't have their own issues, perhaps?

But more importantly, they didn't win. Take the Storm out, and who's the say the team they knocked out the week before wouldn't have rolled Manly or Parra? Why should the team that got rolled a week earlier get nothing, and Manly and Parra get a flag - neither were good enough to beat the Storm, no-one knows if Manly or Parra wouldn't have won if the Storm weren't there.

Right decision to not automatically elevate. In the Olympics, you've usually got say 8 in the field competing directly against each other (swimming or track & field for example), so the second place getter has beaten the next 6. In AFL/NRL, the 2nd place getter hasn't beaten half of the top 8.

Hey folks, was just over on the Crows board wondering what discussions were like around the Tippett fiasco. It got me thinking how lucky we've been that until this point GFC have behaved pretty well and had success. But what if we were caught cheating like Adelaide, or we had WC's drug issues, StKilda's school girl stuff, Carlton's shit culture etc.

At what point do you think it becomes your obligation, as a fan/member/person from Geelong to sink yr boots into people at the club over shit like that? Do you keep the membership?

of course... i support the geelong football club, not the administration who happen to be in place and then decide to cheat their way through whatever.

while the administration are there, i guess they have my full support (not that i give them much thought, however we have had a very good one).

if geelong were caught using performance enhancers, cheating the cap etc, id be pretty annoyed about it, but it wouldnt change my love for the club at all.

i would just want to get rid of the people involved, and move on.
