What if we all boycotted a game

Not sure where to put this but with the corruption, favouritism and sweeping under the carpet that the AFL has done over the past 15 years, do we make a stand as a supporters group. Purchase our tickets, send money to the club and just not turn up. A lovely Friday night in 3 weeks time.

Perhaps a nice protest out the front of AFL house, we want our sport back. The fairness and equality of the 90s needs to come back before the sport dies .

Whole club statement. Maybe refuse to run out to play, not going to effect our season losing 4 points.

Maybe I am just dreaming of a better time....

Yep this is where I'm at.

I love the Saints and either go to or watch every game, but the AFL as a sport is dead to me.

I hate the umpiring, I hate the rules, I hate the over-saturation of media, I hate the term "equalisation" and all of the BS that is anything but equal, I hate that our football code has become another corporation that solely exists to line the pockets of executives.

As far as a boycott goes....it wont make any difference, we dont really have any leverage.

What? How would that get anyone's attention? We are one of the lowest drawing clubs in the league already. It would be far more effective to turn up to a game en masse and protest in the stands, chanting slogans and holding up huge banners. The club would get fined but it would get in the news. The AFL can react with its propaganda, but the more we do it, the more supporters of other clubs will shake the wool out of their eyes and join us. Don't expect the totally unbiased footy media to jump on, but we might be able to generate support on social media and eventually if we are resolute, the normal media won't be able to ignore us.

Boycotting will make us all the easier to ignore and play into the hands of dimwits like Dimma who take the piss out of our low crowds.

I laugh at the AFL. Here they have a product that sells itself. Unlike rugby , crickets, tennis , even basketball and to an extent Aussie soccer. AFL is so so supported by the fans in terms of playing, watching and attending. It should be the easiest thing to manage.

Rather prioritise meaningless token events then fix the fixturing, draft and rules.

Well said. I haven't watch another match outside the Saints for about four years. Can't stand the organisation anymore. As you get older you realise how dirty they are, tyrannical even.

I'm the same as you Chris H.

I go to all Melbourne games and a fair few interstate. I watch the others at the pub. I watch usually the first half of other games on t.v if I'm at home then realise the umpires have been coached to make the game unwatchable.

I no longer listen to SEN or any other radio. I no longer watch shows that I used to enjoy. I'll cancel Kayo the moment our season is done.

The moment they finally kill St Kilda there will be no more AFL. Port Melbourne will get an extra membership as my local club.

When we fold I want a scorched earth level of "never read the Sun" that Liverpool (the city not just the club) instituted after Hillsborough to be imposed on the AFL and all media from StKilda supporters so the AFL gets hit on their bottom line.

Tasmania population will not cover the exodus of StKilda supporters from the AFL landscape.

What if some tech savy individual staterd a Facebook group with the express purpose of organising a boycott of a whole round once membership grew to the point it would make an impact.
The whole AFL following public are going off the game enough for it to already be a thing in the media so the sentiment is out there.

If l can get 100 likes on this post, I'll search out a 15yo kid who might know someone who could organise it.
