With the gold coast comming in, And there being a bye each round next year. You would be spewing to be the first club to have a bye in round one, just hope its not the tigers, look forward to round 1 the most, wouldn't want to be the team with the first.Round 1 is one of biggest rounds of the season. whats ur thoughts?

Won't happen. With Carlton looking like they might be establishing themselves as a top 8 presence and with us coming back and likely to have 50,000 members of the back of jack Flash and improved form there is no way the AFL will deprive themselves of an 80,000 crowd blockbuster kick off to the season.

The madness of expanding into RL areas will cause enough trouble without further shooting themselves in the foot.

Don't say won't, the AFL are apparently looking at caving into to media pressure to open the season with a GF replay perhaps as early as next year. Big ratings boost, more $$ in the AFL's pocket. If this happens then our opener against the blues will likely be just another fixture?

I wouldn't mind a bye in round one, get it over and done with so we can play on the next 22 games without interuption (except the mid season break).

It's only for next season and perhaps won't come back in for another 5 ro 6 years until one of the new franchises fold.

Each team will be having 2 byes next season. There will be some rounds where multiple teams (possibly as many as 7) have a bye

Considering the crowds we've pulled for the season opener in the last few years, I wouldn't think we'd get the bye. I certainly hope not.
